Moving the inner faring
wes0778 replied to elmicko's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
What kind of risers? I installed the 1-1/2" Barons without having to move the fairing. The trick is having a second set of hands, to pull the handlebars back while I slid the risers in from the side. There was not enough slack in the cables to allow me to put the risers in place and lift the handlebars up enough to put them on the risers. But to answer your original question, remove the headlight frame and then there are, I believe, two stud/nut mounting points on the top of the inner frame (the thingy the headlight is mountd to.) and two bolts at the bottom of the inner frame. If you have passing lights, you have probably already removed these. -
Since I have a 4-wire trailer, I did need a converter, but I hooked mine in to the connections behind the license tag.

I'll be interested to see what you find out. I got the E3 we put on at Kenny's from Jake Wilson and I think I remember (need to go look) it had 07 as the last 2 digits of the little 4 digit code.

Fuel Filter??? -
What's pictured here looks like a "later" Tour Deluxe. I believe the later TDs has the same carbs as the RSVs. Just an FYI, The Royal Stars with the smaller 28mm carbs have only one air filter, hidden in the air box under the fuel tank. The RSVs and later TDs have twin air filters mounted behind the lower fairings. The Royal Stars have no lower fairings.

Take a look at http://www.venturerider.org/modules/history/index.php The 2000 Blvd is basically the same bike as the late 90s Royal Stars. That is they have the 28mm carbs, thus without the proper adapter plates the 32mm RSV carbs are not a "bolt on" fit.

Guess the PO of my '99 had a different idea of windshield attachment. There is no metal strip. The windshield is bolted directly to the tabs on the fairing. So when I pull the fairing, the windshield comes off with it. Once the fairing and windshield are in place there are two bolts in the center that hold it to the inner fairing frame. May fall off tomorrow, but has worked well so far.

I bought the thin(est) wall socket that NAPA had and used a po-man's lathe (bench grinder and electric drill) to machine it to fit.

Anybody passing through or close to Jackson, MS on the way to the Rally? I'll hand her off, otherwise had planned to take her to Vogel.

Look who showed up (in a box) at my house this morning... Gumbo says if it wasn't suppose to be close to 100 degrees this week end, we'd go site seeing.

Don't think the wind deflectors will get in the way. Here are pictures of the engine guard on my '98 RSTC http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=315017&highlight=Baron+Highway+bars#post315017

Cutting down windshield from the bottom
wes0778 replied to Grisolm1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Don't have a clue what brand my wide W/S is, but when my wife turned us over , not long after I got the RSV, the two center holes broke out. This left me with the two choices of pitching it, or cutting it off from the bottom. Being the cheap, uh no Frugal guy that I am you know I took plan "B". Should be simple, right??? Make a paper template of the bottom, mark the holes, slide it up an inch mark the hole location and the cutouts for the wide sides and cut away.... Wrong!!! because of the complex curvature the location of the new holes is not straight up from the original location and the cutouts for the (wide)sides must be cut more than what is cut off the bottom. This is not to say it cannot be done, 'cause by trial and error I got mine done. I really would like it about 1/2" shorter, so maybe one day... -
Some days you are the windshield, some days you are the bug!!! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/03/motorcyclist-dies-helmet-protest_n_889427.html?&ncid=edlinkusaolp00000009

Just my , but the simplest answer to this question is to wire a single pole single throw toggle switch parallel to the temp sensor. That is just run a wire from on terminal on the temp sensor to one terminal on the toggle switch and another wire from the "other" terminal on the temp sensor to the "other" terminal on the toggle switch. This way when you flip the toggle switch to the on position, you simulate the temp sensor closing. Just an idea from the "KISS" method...

Just got in, safe, sound and un-rained on(hot as it was definitely cannot say DRY!) Wonderful week end!!! Kenny and Beth, you throw a heck of a party!!!:clap2::clap2: May have had a pygmy sto-a-way! Think he fell off just as we got into Richland, and we may have run over him. Back end of the bike feel "squirley" all of a sudden. Hope he didn't poke a hole in the tire. I'll look tomorrow...
