  1. I guess ALL the oil is now out of my rear shock. This is NO FUN!!! A good while back, someone posted a cut-a-way drawing of the shock. Can anyone help me find that post? I'm wondering about drilling into the shock to make a "refill" hole. Yeah I know the oil will just leak back out, but in my case it seems to leak slowly, as I have suspected my shock was dying for almost a year now. I'm just thinking maybe I could add oil before each trip. Circumstances right now are such that a new shock is out of the question.
  2. Almost since I've had the '99 RSV when I hit a hard bump, the cruise would drop out and the yellow RES light would be on. I suppose this is the clutch or brake lever switches causing it. When that happened all that was necessary was to push the RESUME button to resume the set speed. Today another symptom has shown up. Now when I hit a bump, not only does the cruise drop out, but now the yellow RES and the green SET light come on together and the blue ON light goes out. A second or two later the green and yellow lights go out and the blue one comes back on. Then the process repeats. Pushing CANCEL, SET or RESUME has no effect. I have to turn the system off and back on to get it to function again. Next bump REPEAT....
  3. Got to burn almost a whole tank full through the the RSV this afternoon. Dodged a couple of rain showers. Saw a rainbow, but put the Frog Toggs on anyway and sho' 'nuff 5 minutes later the sun came out! That's the good news, the bad news I now have a 1999 "pogo stick"! The rear shock is completely "oil-less".

  11. Has anyone gone this route? If so what do you think? I've read this review and folks seem to think it will work for faxing and work all the phones in the house. http://the-gadgeteer.com/2011/07/22/magicjack-plus-review/ Is it too good to be true?

  20. Maybe I'm the over cautious type, but I think a tire change would be in order before riding it very much. 1. They are at least 4 years old, and have been sitting in one spot for a long time. 2. If they are Brickstones your 1st(ride) impression will be BAD!!! Get a set of Avons or Elite3s on it!!! BTW I understand blowouts are no fun on these 900lb pigs!!! As for oil, there are as many opinions here as members! for me I use Rotella (blue jug) full synthetic in the engine, along with a PureOne PL14612(or PL14610) oil filter. And the Wally World brand 85-140 full synthetic in the final drive. I change the final drive every oil change. OH, AND:welcome1:to the asylum!!! Also you gotta learn rule #1 without pictures it didn't happen!!!

  22. Been looking forward to the 3rd annual Anti-Snow day, but looks like it is not scheduled. Just looked and Thom has not been on the site since September. Anyone seen him? Hope he is OK!!!
  23. Oh heck no, the only thing I'm gonna pursue is replacing the indexing "star" on the extractor. there is visible wear on it. If the trigger is pulled slowly, or the hammer is cocked slowly, the cylinder will not turn far enough to lock. Don't like lead "shavers"!!! There is no telling how many rounds this gun fired in it's life prior to the 1920s. That is when my grandfather acquired it. He died in 1931 and with the exception of the box of shell I shot through it in the late 1950s, It has never been fired since.
