  2. Be a bit of a ride, for a day, but come on down to the Jackson area and I'll help with the adjusting...
  3. Check for blown fuse, then be sure something has not fallen the shroud and is binding up the fan blades. I would think you can put a toggle switch parallel to the temp sensor, to manually turn on the fan.
  4. On these really high geared bikes, don't even think about 5th gear slower than 65, and even then if you need to accelerate quickly down shift to 4th, or even 3rd!!! Third will get you over 90mph Don't be afraid to hit the rev limiter...
  5. I bet the have!!! :ice_awesome-vi46644:sign woo hoo:
  6. There was a bit of confusion at the grocery store this morning. When I was ready to pay for my groceries, the cashier said, "Strip down facing me." Making a mental note to complain to my congressman later this morning about Homeland Security running amok, I did just as she had instructed. When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to my credit card. I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. They need to make their instructions to seniors a little more clear....... P.S. That was my favorite grocery store........ Alas
  7. We MIGHT even let y'all in the house!!!

  10. Ok, things are finally down to a mild enough roar that I can check the mileage with the new VMax rear gears. Total trip according to the GPS was 1995.6 miles. If I didn't miss any gas receipts we burned 53.474 gallons of gas. That translates to 37.31907095 mpg. My average fill up was 4.373 gallons per fill up so even if I missed up to two tickets my mileage was still 32.58 mpg. Not to shabby for 2-up pulling a trailer that weighed in at 90lbs on each trailer wheel and 25lbs on the tongue. Most of the trip up there was "back roads" with 55 and 60 mph speed limits. The trip back was mostly "slab" miles running 70-75 mph. So best I can tell the mileage for my bike is about the same even with the lower ratio gears. The exception is that in the hilly back roads I didn't have as much shifting to do.
  11. Don, a good ride from your place is from Livingston to Alexandria to Natchez, up the trace to our house for a 1st day ride.....
  12. Let me know if you can eat the whole "Holy Cow Burger"
  13. Oh it's there!!!
  14. When you get to Fairhope, stop in at http://www.old27grill.com/location Tell 'em Walter sent ya!!! (A cousin is the owner)
  15. The lock on my right saddle bag is different from all the other locks, so I just had a key cut on one side for that lock and the other side cut for everything else. I cut a notch in the plastic, so I know which side of the key is for which lock, problem solved!!!
  16. You might wanna check out one of the 90s Royal Stars. I love my '98 for short trips and errands. It is a couple of inches lower than my RSV and a little lighter. It is not near the "pig" the RSV is at slow speeds and in my limited experience rolls in and out of the twisties much better than my RSV. It has the same (reduced HP) 1300cc V4 as the Venture and is shaft drive. Just my
  17. Oh were we suppose to quit??? Bob, glad to see you are doing better!!! Take care of yourself and don't push!!!
  18. Yep such a thing is available, It's called a trailer........... :stirthepot: :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:
  19. There is a 5-pin DIN connector under the passenger seat. Check it. My wife started complaining that one side of her head set was not working then the intercom quit. I ended up having to replace the female part of that plug. I could not find a female connector locally so ended up buying a MIDI extension cable from Radio Shack. It had male plugs on both ends so I had to get a connector (gender changer) to go with it. I cut the cable and soldered and shrink wrapped the connections. BTW it was a mind bender hooking it up, cause the Yamaha wire colors don't match up with the Rat Shack cable.
  20. I see you have a Tour Deluxe, I could be wrong, but I think I've seen it said that risers will not work on a TD. Maybe the speedometer is in the way.... Might try back rest and highway pegs
  21. For what ever reason, or combination of all, my H/F Tag Along reduces my gas mileage 2-3mpg, best I can tell.
  22. :crying: Y'all have all the fun, wish I could find a worm hole between Richland and Houston!!!
  23. Just my , but I have a circuit breaker, from Autozone, that will plug into the fuse block. I found it a lot cheaper than constantly blowing fuses in the troubleshooting phase. Once you correct the problem, unplug the circuit breaker and install the proper fuse. Another trick is to hook a 12v light bulb in place of the fuse. Then as long as the bulb is lit, you still have a short to ground. When the light goes out, you have broken the short. Not REALLY :no-no-no: recommended, but if you get completely frustrated, you can use the smoke test. Put a large piece of copper wire in place of the fuse and turn on the ignition, Where the smoke stops is where the short is..... :shock3::shock3: Hey it's a JOKE!!!
  24. I'm kinda disappointed in the life of the original equipment tires that came on my Tag Along!!! Gee They only have somewhere around 12-13,000 miles on them and looks like I'm gonna have to replace them when I get home...:stirthepot::stirthepot::rotf::rotf::rotf:
  25. The Tag Along comes with 4.80X8 tires, but I guess there are 5.60(I think)X8 tires must be available, as I saw a couple at MD. The were mounted on 4 bolt 8" wheels. They are noticeably taller than the 4.80s.
