    I would just say stay away from the HID kit (or maybe any other products) from Canadian Cruiser Customizing. I bought one from then and it failed within the 1 year warranty. I reported it to them and they wanted to know my invoice # and date. I sent that to them and here I am ,a year or so later, still waiting to hear back from them!

    In the '96-2000 group, the Tour Classic and Tour Deluxe are basically the same bike, except the TC had soft leather "slant" saddle bags and the TD had larger hard bags.

    You gotta remember that there is a "in between" bike. The '96-2000 Royal Stars are neither 1st Gen or 2nd Gen. They are the 78hp ones with 28mm carbs. Now to confuse the issue, some of them were called "Tour Deluxe". That is not the same bike as the 2005 and up Tour Deluxe that has the same engine as the 1999 and up Venture.

    to asylum!!! And YES it is a good site, more like a family. I don't have one and have only ridden one once, but others have described the 1st Gens as 900lb crotch rockets and will carve the curves with the best of them...

    Also along with different cams, 32mm carbs, double valve springs and larger intake systems (among other things), I believe the G2 engines have balancers added.

    Not sure why it changed your speedometer, but it did not on mine. According to my GPS the same (fast) reading on the speedometer gives the same MPH on the GPS as it did before the swap.

    If you are gonna put a relay on the main power wires, I would strongly suggest that you put a relay on the headlight and another relay for the passing lights.

    Just DO IT!!! John @ SportMax is top notch in my book!!! You will LOVE what is does for 1st gear! So I'm told you can really lift the front wheel..... Add Skydoc's clutch upgrade and it is even better getting a heavy trailer moving. :cool10:

    Just my but I it is sure easier with the tank off and on top of that I always run a vacuum cleaner hose over the plugs before I remove them to be sure no foreign body (like a rock) falls into the spark plug hole.

    I've heard tell that the tag-a-long with the standard length tongue pulls just fine up around the 3rd gear rev limiter speed behind an RSV.....
