  1. Congrats Rattlesnake. Welcome to the "DARK SIDE"...........
  2. I could only get mine to regester over to the 3/4 full spot on the gas gauge. I was in "Hot Pursuit" of an 1800 VTX:innocent:..... Of course my speedo does register kinda fast..
  3. HORSES????? We can't afford to lose no horses. Send some of them Harley riders:innocent:...........
  4. Older. Welcome to the world of the Ventureriders. if you should have any questions at all, rest assured you shall get plenty of answers here. Most of them wont have anything to do with the topic you asked about, but they are answers. This is a like a family with that one kid that is just a "little off center" except that we are ALL a "whole lot off center". I hope you do decide to buy the Venture. I have had one for 3 1/2 years and have really enjoyed it. We have only gotten to put 48K miles on it so far so it is not really broken in yet. The comfort and realibility is beyond anything I had ever hoped for. And the best part is getting to blow those limp running Harleys off the road. Good luck and again welcome.
  5. Don. I'm really sorry to hear that you got stiffed so bad. I can't imagine anyone in here intentionally doing that, but it does happen. The best thing my wife and I did was to get separate checking accounts. Now when she runs out of money in her's, she can come steal from mine. I too choose not to use Paypal. I have always sent a personal check to cover purchases from individuals. I hope you can work out an acceptable method that will work well with everyone. The postal money order sounds good to me if it is cool with you. If, for some wild, senior moment reason, I do forget and send you a personal check and it bounces, rest assured that I will send you another just like it to cover all of your expenses:stirthepot:.
  6. I saw an article in a recent V-Twin mag where J&M Electronics was offering an upgrade for the stock speakers in the HD Ultra Classic. The article stated these speakers fit several "metric" applications as well. The price was aroud $125. I am thinking of looking into this for a nice Christmas present for the wife. Of course I will have to wrap it up with something GOLD.....
  7. Larry. Thank you for seeing the need and supplying us with a quality product at a very fair price. It is great to be able to buy what I need from a fellow Venture rider. I wish you the best in your retirement:080402gudl_prv:. Hope some day to actually meet you on a ride.
  8. Bob. I purchased one of the spacers that you are talking about. Really like it. I believe I got the fella's contact information from the Venturers website. It shoud be listed under aftermarket parts.
  9. I am looking forward to the day when Yahama produces the RSV with EFI. Then I will gladly purchase my second one. After 3 1/2 year and 48K miles I have yet to have any trouble out of my Venture. I just keep it serviced and "RIDE IT LIKE I STOLE IT":dancefool:
  10. Cause it's FUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNN:stirthepot:
  11. I use the rev limiter to let me know when to shift gears. Or just wait til the wife starts pounding me on the helmet.
  12. I lean way too much for me to put my life on the line with a square cut tire with a soft sidewall:no-no-no:. Just the thought of falling into the turn and expecting the floorboards to drag with a car tire on the bike makes cold chills run up my back.
  13. This as well.... I believe both of these answers are pretty much on the money. But I would still change the filter at 3500 miles. http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/spacer.gifQuestion: Any Reason Not to Use Mobil 1 Extended Performance in Motorcycles with Wet Clutches Is there any reason that Mobil 1 Extended Performance 15W-50 Gold Cap shouldn't be used in a motorcycle with a wet clutch? Some additives in automotive oils that reduce friction are bad for a wet clutch. -- John Gardner, San Diego, CAhttp://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/spacer.gif Answer: ExxonMobil’s primary recommendation for wet clutch applications is Mobil 1 Motorcycle Oil which is specifically designed to minimize the effects of friction modifiers contained in typical engine oils. These are have been optimized for the performance experienced in motorcycles including those with wet clutches.
  14. I found this on the Mobil website..... www.mobil1.com http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/spacer.gifQuestion: Oil Filter Change Interval with Mobil 1 Extended PerformanceI currently use Mobil 1 in all my vehicles. I change the oil and filter every 5,000 miles. If I switch to Mobil 1 Extended Performance should I continue to change the filter every 5,000 miles or should I wait to change the oil filter when I change the oil at one year/15,000 miles? -- David Willian, Muncie, IN http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/spacer.gifAnswer: Mobil 1 Extended Performance is designed to go 15,000 miles with any high quality oil filter available in retail stores. http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/graypix.gifhttp://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/buttons/button_askaquestion.gifhttp://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/buttons/button_questionarchive.gifhttp://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/images/spacer.gif
  15. If I were going to go the 7K miles between oil changes I would change the filter at 3500 miles. The oil is designed to run without breaking down for that many miles, but it will be good to put a new filter on to assure that you keep it clean. I know several people that do thier synthetic oil this way and have had very good sucess with it
  16. Don. I can't get near the top end speed out of my o4 Midnight in 4th that I can in 5th. It hits the rev limiter in 4th before it is through stretching out:whistling:......
  17. My feeling is that every engine should be broken in and run moderately hard. The temps need to be up to make the engine reach it's maxium performance range. As far as the RPM, that is what the rev limiter is for. It helps to keep idiots like me from stretching out the connecting rods:no-no-no:.... I am an agressive rider and it is not unusual for me (when I'm alone) to hit the rev limiter several times a day:whistling:. As long as you don't peg it out every time you accelerate the engine should be fine. I've got 42k miles on my 04 and have not seen any kind of adverse effect (leaks or high temps). Of course as soon as I hit the rev limiter I come back off the throttle and shift up. It is just my opinion, which doesn't mean much to anyone but my dog, the stock rev limiter is set a little low. I believe it is to protect people like me that like to get close to the edge every now and then. (OK,, a lot....) Mainly, just ride it and enjoy the day...
  18. I checked out some of the prices on Super Bright LEDs. They have some good prices on regular bulbs, especally the wedge bulbs. Thanks for the tip Buddy.
  19. The best price I have found in LEDs is from Custom Dynamics, www.customdynamics.com . I have seen those wedge LEDs listed but dont remember the price. I too am swithching to LEDs to reduce amp load and for better visibility. You are right though, it gets expensive quick. Good luck with the search.
