  1. Did I mention that I was looking for a job???? :whistling::rotfl:
  2. No lights??? Did you pay the electric bill?????????:rotf:
  3. That does it. The Warden and I HAVE to go down to NC for the fall meet. Work will just have to learn to do without me. People like this I must get to know. It's not everyone will offer to work on your ride AND offer room and board. But inquiring minds must know, did Jeff feed ribs too??? Heck, I'll bring the ribs if he has a grill...
  4. This was sent out to us from our safety department and I thought it was worth passing along. I just cannot believe what risks people are taking now to pursue thier love of this drug. Subject: Propane Tanks For those of you who like to grill it up during the summer, here's a safety annoucement you should be aware of. Please put this information out to ALL personnel. For those of you who exchange your propane tanks, this is something you definitely need to be aware of, especially in light of the recent news of 'Meth-labs' in our area. Meth cooks are getting propane tanks from exchanges at Wal-Mart, Kroger, etc. and emptying them of the propane. Then, they are filling them with anhydrous ammonia (which they now have a recipe for by the way). After they are finished with them, they return them to the store. They are then refilled with propane and sent back for you and me to buy. Anhydrous ammonia is very corrosive and weakens the structure of the tank. It can be very dangerous when mixed with propane and hooked up to our grills, etc. You should inspect the propane tank for any blue or greenish residue around the valve areas. If it is present, refuse to purchase that tank. Check out the following website for more details. They also have pictures. http://www.npga.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=529
  5. Dan, you sure do make a man have to make some hard choices in his life...:rotfl:
  6. Dray. If I would have been serious about buying it I would have tried that. However, I was at a "no haggle" dealer in Union City Tn. that quotes you a price out the door. If you want it fine, if you dont, they won't argue. With that said, they have the best prices in that part of the country. It was really, really, hard to walk away from that bike. The problem I have is the Wing just doesn't fit me.
  7. We have a small black poodle/dauchound mix and a white med size poodle that both love to ride. The little one lays across the tank when I stop and sits on my left leg after we got to moving. The large one just rides on the back seat. No one much notices the little one, but I sure get some stares when the white one rides along. I'm thinking of building a padded "box" to strap on the back seat to give the large one something more to keep him secure. Never have tried to carry either one while riding with the Warden.
  8. It seems to me that I lose 5 lbs of air pressure just by checking the pressure. But then I'm using a large gauge that is normally used for truck tires. I was wondering if you are riding 1 or 2 up? I have to keep about 50 - 60 lbs in mine to keep the fender from rubbing 2 up. I do have a lowering kit on mine though.
  9. One of the greatest thing about this site is the way we can agree to disagree. With the large number of posts on this subject, and the fact that we haven't killed each other yet, shows that we are at least willing to tolerate each other having different opinions. That being said, I AINT GONNA RUN A CAR TIRE ON MY RIDE!!!:stirthepot: Sorry, but I just couldn't resist.:rotfl::rotfl:
  10. Bill. I was slobbering over some new bikes last year, (no, I wasn't a serious shopper), and one was a beautiful gunmetal Goldwing. I commented that I couldn't handle the foot pegs and would have to have floorboards and road pegs. The salesman offered install floorboards and new shift levers for the price of the parts. Even though I knew I wasn't going to buy the bike, I thought that was a pretty good offer. I couldn't imagine riding a bike with out floorboards and a heel shifter. That may be one of your options if you keep having that problem. They are kinda pricey though. At that time it seems they ran around $250 for the boards and shifter. Good luck and enjoy your new ride.
  11. I once had my brother-in-law's "pet" squirrel run up my arm and make four laps around my bicep gnawing in high gear. I came out with a nice tattoo and the squirrel had a nice long "flight" across his shop. I could only imagine what would happen if a man didn't "check for squirrels" :crying::crying::rotf::rotf::rotf:
  12. That "good ole" Southern boy and all of them dang yankees???? What is the world coming to. If he gets lost up there, he might starve to death before he can find some decent southern cooking. Lets hope and pray that he doesn't become traumatized from this experience.
  13. I dont have a clue as to why the rim is directional, but I ran mine for 19K miles with it running backwards. I noticed it when I went to have the tire changed the last time. The service man said it wasn't a big deal, but they always made sure it was running the right direction. (Another dealer had mounted the tire)(Maybe that is why they went out of business?)
  14. It even has ABS and fuel injection. Not to metion a KICK-ASS attitude.
  15. Don't forget to add a fork air balance kit. I added one and really feel it helps with the ride. It's made by Progressive Springs and I got mine through J&P Cycles. Let us know how it rides lowered.
  16. If the lights are powered from the same fuse that runs the headlight, the fuse will blow. The circut is not heavy enough to run all 3 lights. The best solution is to pull a new FUSED circut from the battery, put a relay under the fairing to energize the lights and power the relay from a circut that will go off when the ignition is off. Just my thoughts.
  17. I guess mine has, just never noticed it.
  18. I think it depends on what phase the moon is in. Actually I believe you are right on with your numbers as long as both tires have the same height of sidewall. I would go with the 12 inch wheel for that reason and for the fact they will go over a bump much easier.
  19. I switched to Flanders bars after I bent my stock bars in the "great fall" of November. I had been using the Baron's 1 1/2 inch risers but they just did not get the grips back far enough to suit me. Also the risers made the fairing rattle like crazy cause I didn't move the rubber blocks. The downside is the price. I went with the entire package of bars, braided hydraulic lines and new throttle cables. It was pricey, but I love the new ride. Good luck with your choice.
  20. WOW. It's amazing what you can learn from this site. All these years of riding and I wasn't even aware that a FIRST Gen could go 110 mph... :stirthepot:
  21. flb_78 is correct. Most all of the Stars, except Road Star Warrior and Raider, use the same tail light lens. I bought a clear lens and LED board from Custom Dynamics, www.customdynamics.com . Got a good product and good service for a fair price. They have lots of great products for our bikes. Good luck.
  22. Weren't me. I'm in in New Orleans and my ride is at home in Kentucky...
  23. It's a shame you couldn't adapt the Honda engine to the lawn vaccum. At least it would be used to being around water...
  24. Floyd. I have a left side saddlebag trim rail for sale. It is used but in very good shape. I replaced both sides when I dropped the bike last fall. If you are interested in knowing more send me a PM. Thanks
