  1. VT. I have a used headlight ring that I will sell. Send me a PM and I will shoot you a price.

    Covers

I use the Wal Mart cover that Eck mentioned. Been using the same one for 4 years. It doesn't take up much room and does a decent job of protecting the bike. It has been on during some pretty serious storms.
  3. I have a Venture-Dad hitch that I put a mud flap on. I stopped by an Advance Auto parts store and got a set of small rubber mudflaps and cut them down to the size I wanted. Using some self drilling, self tapping screws I bolted it to the front part of the hitch crossmember. I wanted a mudflap with a naked girl on it but the Warden said NO! She is such a spoil sport.
  4. Wow Don, you ARE blessed. You have a beautiful wife, a great son and a pond monster. What else could a man want???:stirthepot:
  5. Rindercella, I've had 2 rotator cuff repairs in the last 3 1/2 years and Eric hit it right on the head with the recliner. It will become his best friend. The one thing I can add is DONT LET ANYONE GRAB THAT ARM:no-no-no::no-no-no:. The first time I went out to eat after my first surgery, two different people came by, slapped me on the shoulder and said "I sure hope that arm gets well soon" . Talk about a lesson in pain management. I hope Dale does well and recovers quickly. I will pray for the both of you.
  6. Eddie. I distinctly remember you putting your carb tune on the top shelf of that secret closet that everyone puts things they store that is labeled "I'll put it here so I won't forget where it is".:rotfl: That is why all of my tools stay scattered all over the workbench. They are easier to find like that.
  7. Those mounts look AWESOME. That is some great fab work you do. How does the wife person like them???
  8. Congrats on the new ride Jeff. I've never met you , but if even a 10th of what I have read about you is true, it went to a very deserving person. I cant wait til the Warden and I can get down to meet you and Margaret.
  9. Welcome aboard Fellas. Glad to know that we have some great watchdogs.
  10. Don. Are you serious??? This bunch have a political debate over something as insignificant as drilling for oil in the U.S. ??? Heck, this will probably turn into the next World War.:rotf::whistling:
  11. Stuck on 70?? Is that anything like :guitarist 2:"Stuck on you":guitarist 2:???? :dancefool::stirthepot: Glad ya'll made it home OK. I know that is a pain being stuck without any way to get around.
  12. Is anyone tracking where these tires are made?? Yesterday my riding buddy noticed the rear tire on his Roadstar had seperated. It had 8K miles and was due to be replaced, but he went on a short ride and the tread seperated by the time he got back home. He went out last night to check it out, and sure enough, the tire was made in BRAZIL! Is there a problem with the tires made in Brazil? We both have ridden a lot of miles on Metzlers without a problem, but this is making a Bridgestone look real good.
  13. One more idea. I wrap a rag around my brake calipers and hang them with a piece of wire so they wont put a strain on the hoses. I always check out my brake pads when I change a tire. The rear brake pads seem to go first. I'm only getting about 18K out of mine and I use the front 90% of the time. Good luck
  14. 1. No, the driveshaft does not have to be removed. 2. No. The gears will mesh up in any posistion. 3. Yes. The Craftsman jack will do a great job. If you plan on doing your own service, I recomend purchasing a Lift Adapater that Larry, Carbon One, sells. It makes lifting much easier and safer. It also makes a great stand for working on the bike with the jack out of the way. The lift adapter is listed in the classified. I think it is in the $125 price range, but dont quote me on that. Pulling the tire is pretty easy. You dont have to, but I would reccomend taking both saddlebags and both mufflers off the first time. Just makes it much easier to see what needs to be done. Remember to use plenty of good grease on the gears.
  15. Did I mention that I was looking for a job???? :whistling::rotfl:
  16. No lights??? Did you pay the electric bill?????????:rotf:
  17. That does it. The Warden and I HAVE to go down to NC for the fall meet. Work will just have to learn to do without me. People like this I must get to know. It's not everyone will offer to work on your ride AND offer room and board. But inquiring minds must know, did Jeff feed ribs too??? Heck, I'll bring the ribs if he has a grill...
  18. This was sent out to us from our safety department and I thought it was worth passing along. I just cannot believe what risks people are taking now to pursue thier love of this drug. Subject: Propane Tanks For those of you who like to grill it up during the summer, here's a safety annoucement you should be aware of. Please put this information out to ALL personnel. For those of you who exchange your propane tanks, this is something you definitely need to be aware of, especially in light of the recent news of 'Meth-labs' in our area. Meth cooks are getting propane tanks from exchanges at Wal-Mart, Kroger, etc. and emptying them of the propane. Then, they are filling them with anhydrous ammonia (which they now have a recipe for by the way). After they are finished with them, they return them to the store. They are then refilled with propane and sent back for you and me to buy. Anhydrous ammonia is very corrosive and weakens the structure of the tank. It can be very dangerous when mixed with propane and hooked up to our grills, etc. You should inspect the propane tank for any blue or greenish residue around the valve areas. If it is present, refuse to purchase that tank. Check out the following website for more details. They also have pictures. http://www.npga.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=529
  19. Dan, you sure do make a man have to make some hard choices in his life...:rotfl:
  20. Dray. If I would have been serious about buying it I would have tried that. However, I was at a "no haggle" dealer in Union City Tn. that quotes you a price out the door. If you want it fine, if you dont, they won't argue. With that said, they have the best prices in that part of the country. It was really, really, hard to walk away from that bike. The problem I have is the Wing just doesn't fit me.
  21. We have a small black poodle/dauchound mix and a white med size poodle that both love to ride. The little one lays across the tank when I stop and sits on my left leg after we got to moving. The large one just rides on the back seat. No one much notices the little one, but I sure get some stares when the white one rides along. I'm thinking of building a padded "box" to strap on the back seat to give the large one something more to keep him secure. Never have tried to carry either one while riding with the Warden.
  22. It seems to me that I lose 5 lbs of air pressure just by checking the pressure. But then I'm using a large gauge that is normally used for truck tires. I was wondering if you are riding 1 or 2 up? I have to keep about 50 - 60 lbs in mine to keep the fender from rubbing 2 up. I do have a lowering kit on mine though.
  23. One of the greatest thing about this site is the way we can agree to disagree. With the large number of posts on this subject, and the fact that we haven't killed each other yet, shows that we are at least willing to tolerate each other having different opinions. That being said, I AINT GONNA RUN A CAR TIRE ON MY RIDE!!!:stirthepot: Sorry, but I just couldn't resist.:rotfl::rotfl:
  24. Bill. I was slobbering over some new bikes last year, (no, I wasn't a serious shopper), and one was a beautiful gunmetal Goldwing. I commented that I couldn't handle the foot pegs and would have to have floorboards and road pegs. The salesman offered install floorboards and new shift levers for the price of the parts. Even though I knew I wasn't going to buy the bike, I thought that was a pretty good offer. I couldn't imagine riding a bike with out floorboards and a heel shifter. That may be one of your options if you keep having that problem. They are kinda pricey though. At that time it seems they ran around $250 for the boards and shifter. Good luck and enjoy your new ride.
  25. I once had my brother-in-law's "pet" squirrel run up my arm and make four laps around my bicep gnawing in high gear. I came out with a nice tattoo and the squirrel had a nice long "flight" across his shop. I could only imagine what would happen if a man didn't "check for squirrels" :crying::crying::rotf::rotf::rotf:
