Seaking. I have an o4 Midnight that the flashers have stopped working on also. I left mine on for a couple of days after I stopped to help get a Harley going:dancefool: and it just stopped. I didn't notice it for several days and I haven't checked it out yet, but I believe I blew a fuse. I dont have anything coming on when I turn the switch on. Your problem sounds like the flasher has failed. The flasher for the 4-ways is under the front cowling, if I remember correctly. If not it is under the left side panel. (If I'm wrong someone will speak up). Once you get the cowling off you will see a metal electronics box in the center of the handlebars. The flasher is to the left, facing the bike, of that box. It is a black square relay that has a white 2-prong connector on it. You can unplug it and using a jumper wire between the two wires in the connector, check to see if the lights come on, then off, when you plug in and unplug the jumper. What you are doing is mimicing the flasher by interupting the current flow. This will tell you if it is the flasher. I would bet mnoney it is since you do have lights working, but not blinking. One of the best accessories that I have bought is the Yamaha Repair manual for the Venture. While they got some things wrong, it is very valuable for problems such as this. Good Luck.

Pegsraper, I didn't mean to imply that better brake systems are not out there. Or that some people can't get better results from better brake systems. My feeling was if I can lock up the front tire, (I did that on purpose and in a controlled setting), then the stock brake system is doing it's job to suit me. While I am an agressive rider, I do not race the bike and when I am riding aggressively, most of my braking is done by the engine. So I don't over work the brakes. Like I said, the stock system, with the upgrades, works fine for me...

I use EBC HH pads on the Black Beast. Once I switched to braided stainless brake lines, I found out real quick that I could lock up the front tire. That is all the stopping power I need.

There was a thread about changing the clutch basket out in the Tech Section. It may be in the same thread with the one about changing the clutch. When I upgraded the clutch in my Black Beast it looked like it was a simple matter to get the basket off. What I really wanted to say is this. If your local man doesn't want to fix it, find a dealer nearby that will. It is not that hard to change out and it is too much money to spend when Yamaha should be paying for it. Good luck

Now that depends,,, how far away from a gas station would you like to be stranded??? Think of the reserve setting on your petcock as a safety device. This safety device will keep you from being stranded miles from a gas station. Would you disarm a safety device if you knew that there was a chance that you could be stranded in the middle of no-where, not knowing which way to go to get help??? :bang head: By the way, you aint lost if you aint out of fuel...

Well, the Warden and I have made it home from the Grand Canyon trip. It was WONDERFUL. There is no way that I would have the words needed to describe the majesty of that marvelous wonder. Not only were the sights wonderful, but the people we met along the way were great too. We did 4500 miles in ten days, but the highlight of my trip was using my metric tools to repair a Harley that had broken down on the road in northern Az. I will post more details and the pics later, right now I am going to the recliner to rest some more.

...are climbing aboard the Black Beast and heading west early tomorrow morning. I wish we were able to head north to the Venturerider's Rally, but the lure of the Grand Canyon won out. We will be thinking of everyone as we travel and look at the sights. The only regret that I will have this week is not getting to see the disapointed faces when my winning ticket for the trailer is drawn. :stirthepot: Our prayers are with everyone that is traveling this week. I pray that we all have a safe trip and return to our families safe and healthy. When we return I'm sure we will have a couple of hundred pics to post. Everyone be safe. Steve and Donna Stewart

Steve S replied to RSTDRIDER's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I read that the take off speed of the new V-Max was 0 to DEAD in 3.7 seconds. Man, I wanna try one REALLLL bad. :bang head: -
Hello Folks. I have a 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad posted for sale in the classifieds. It was my son's bike that I bought from him a couple of years ago when he went back to school. If anyone is interested, it is a very good ride. I got some nice pics of it posted too. Thanks

Thanks Eck. I'll give that a try.

I posted this in "Wanted to Buy" section, but I figured I would take up everyone's time by posting it in here too. I am in need of a radio control housing for a 2nd gen. Mine has cracked where the mounting screws are and is getting very shaky. If anyone has one that they would part with, with or without the control, please let me know. Thanks

I have had my Black Beast well over the 120 speedo mark several times. That is not an accurate speed, but it sure the heck is faster than 90 mph.

Is it possible to tow one bike with another?
Steve S replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Trailer Talk
I did the calculations on the towing weight to the towed weight ratio. The numbers I came up with are exactly the same weight as a good... ...COFFIN- 32 replies

"Nightmare at a dealer" or "Lawrenceville Honda/Yamaha, you suck!"
Steve S replied to Guindalf's topic in Watering Hole
You done right dude, but I don't think I would have been as nice as you were. I would have at least spilled my Coke across the salesman's desk (after I talked about the owner's family tree that didn't branch) and on the nice carpet, for wasting 5 hours of my time. Then I would have had to explain just exactly what I thought of him trying to gouge me for 200 bucks. And do all of this while maintaining a Christian attitude(that's the hard part). We have a similar situation at home. JPM Motorsports, our Yamaha/Victory dealer, will do anything they can to help people. The Honda/Kawasaki dealer doesn't care if your ride sits for 3 weeks waiting on an oil change. I hope you have better luck with the next one you visit.- 39 replies

08 is running fine now
Steve S replied to Sleeperhawk's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That is great news Sleeperhawk. It's good to hear that not all dealers are "stealers". -
Beer, that is just way too cool dude. You are one heck of a fabricator. But one problem, I didn't see the cooler. By the way. You have a PM.
