Screamstone Maintenance Day at Sleeperhawk's Place
Steve S replied to Sleeperhawk's topic in Picture Folder
You must tell us what kind of pie it was. It is so important to include ALL of the critical details. :rotfl: Pie at a maintance day?? I'm mapping out my ride to Sleeperhawk's right now. :innocent: -
Help figure out this rear brake mess on '87 VR.
Steve S replied to jonsmyth's topic in Watering Hole
This is going to be crazy, but the wheel looks like it is too far to the left. Isn't there a a spacer that goes in the differental itself??? I would pull the wheel, remove and inspect every piece, then put it back together. The brake rotor should be in the center of the caliper unless the rotor has been removed and put back wrong somehow. Just my worthless opinion. -
Glad to see you back home Don. I know a week at the office is tiring. I don't understand why they think you should work when you go to the "big house". Take it easy and get rested up. By the way. Mini was the perfect angel this week. She was so quiet that it scaret me. She must be missing the Muffin Man real bad...

I do believe this is an issue that could be debated until the end of time and never get it resolved. Since we all seem to be searching for answers, it would seem that everyone involved in this debate is concerned with doing the best that we can for our bikes. I truly believe that the majority of us already doing the best that we can. The most important part of this debate is to use good quality products along with a regular preventative maintance program. From what I have read in these posts, this is being done in spades. :clap2: Having wrenched on something for the majority of my life, I don't believe that the brand of oil is as important as using the proper type of oil for the application. I've run Yamalube in mine since it was new. After 63K miles and 5 years I will be switching to Rotella oil for my services. I believe Shell makes a good product and the oil is fitting for the application. Since it gets changed frequently I feel that this will give my ride many more years of service. If I am wrong, I will be sure to cry about it... VERY LOUDLY...LOL:whistling: to everyone with whatever it is that you are using.

Now what can be weider than Yammer Dan chasing after a bear, in his skivvies, barefoot, with one foot in a cast??? :confused24:

This lift adapter is by far, the best accessory that I have ever purchsed.  I wouldn't want to go back to working on my bike without one. :no-no-no: :mo money:

Changing to Stainless hydraulic lines
Steve S replied to RossKean's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Russ. The new lines should come with new crush washers. If it doesn't, most any parts store or dealer will have them. Just take a line or bolt with you for sizing. -
It ALWAYS happens when the Boss is away. "Control", for this group, is a very loosely held term. :rotfl:

The best results I ever got with a warranty issue is when I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The phone calls started rolling in. I had my car fixed within a few days.

I must retract my statement about your dealer. I'm glad he helped you out. It will help him when you get ready to spend money.

I guess this means that I can't use "Gator got your Granny" as the title for my next post?? :stirthepot: :rotfl:

Thankfully there are several options for an upgrade to the stock bulb. The bulb itself is a H-4 automotive bulb that can be found at most any auto parts and Wal-Mart. I chose one of the brighter "Blue" bulbs that was offered by Sylvania. You can check them out and pick what you think is best for your riding style. :mo money:

Dang Boss, you sure don't mind loading us up while you go "play" at the corporate office. Do you have any idea just how much trouble Mini can stir up while you are away? She is a one woman wrecking team with top World honors. We will try, but don't kick us all out if you come back and find evidence of the wild party... :stirthepot:

Who would have thunk it??? :confused24: Thanks for posting your story. It will make me wary of water across the road. Hope you recover soon...

Hey Dan. Did your doctor give you any ideas about where your gloves might be??? :rotfl: :rotfl: :stirthepot:

The charging system on the Venture is more than adaquate to completely charge the battery. If a battery will not hold a charge over night, then it is pretty evident that you have a bad battery. (This would apply to ANY lead/acid battery). I have never used a Battery Tender on my bike and the first battery lasted over 4 1/2 years. I often leave my bike sit for more than 30 days while I am at work. My truck sits for the entire month as well and the battery doesn't run down. I would say that you have a dealer that A., doesn't want to help you or B., just doesn't give a squat about his customers. Good luck with it.

Sounds good to me. We will see how w*** cooperates. I know the Warden would be all for it.

I'll take 2 "cagers" and 1 MC. I'll keep working on the idea for a plate. Im just not very artistic and dont have access to a decent computer progranm for designs while I'm at work.

The longer trailer was $254. I think it was worth every penny... :mo money:

I'm thinking that Vogel is the destination that she has in mind. I'll send you a PM when I get back in Steve. I'm thinking a radiatior grill is in order for a nice Christmas present...

http://picturesI would like to take a moment to thank EVERYONE that had anything, in any way, to do with the International Rally and the raffling of the trailer. It is an honor to be this year's recipiant of the grand prize. I got the trailer home from Des Moines IA late Wednesday night and finally got to take some pictures of it yesterday. (I will post them after lunch.) I can not say enough about the people at Thomas Bus Sales in Des Moines. They were wonderful to deal with and very professional in thier actions. I got to pick out the trailer I wanted and they had it prepped and loaded in 15 minutes. We were back on the road headed to Ky in less than 30 minutes total. I am looking forward to loading it up and heading out to the mountains when I return from work in late Sept. The Warden has already picked us out a location to go down in the Smokies... :dancefool: Again, Thank You to everyone that made this possible,, And ECK,, sorry about your luck man..LOL

Has anyone made, or had made, a license plate that has the motto "Life's a Venture" written on it. I want to get one to put on the rear of my newly aquired trailer that I am now the proud owner of. There is a large void on the lower part of the rear of the trailer, I am planning to put the "Life's a Venture" license plate on the trailer with the " ventureriders.org" over the top of it. I am open to suggestions for a design for one if anyne is interested in helping. I really think the raised decal that Freebird has produced would look good in a license plate form, but I want to get the approval of the "Boss" before I go using that. I believe that we should stay with one standard for the advertisement of this group. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks
