I also spent some time around this bike, I checked out about everything that I could possibly check out, everything but starting and riding the bike. There's a lot I like about the bike, for one it's not so top heavy, I put a good lean on this bike and could pull it back up with no problem. I like the rotating vents at the bottom. I like the stereo system it would definitely blow away the venture and HD's systems, not sure if it had 5" or 6" speakers. I like how the front fearing is smaller and also all that weight is off the bars. It's the first fearing I have seen that's fixed and looks good. I like the dash look and the mechanical gages / speedometer and also the electronic display read-out. I like the way the bike sits. I like the fuel injection. I like the six speeds. I like were the intercom hooks up. I like how all that stuff is built in the dash the m3p player, Sirius radio, normal radio, CB, and so on. I'm not promoting this bike just saying what I found

Under the cylinder head cooling fin cover there is a seal sometimes that seal will work it's way loose, not a big deal, remove 3 allen screws, the fin comes off and you will see where the leak is coming from. Most of the time just tighten the allen screws that hold the fin on or add a flat washer on top of the seal to push the seal inward and your done.

I was once a Harley guy. Had it about two years and was stolen. Can't say how the new ones are. I still think that they are way over priced. Been on both sides of the fence. "Over all" I'll take the RSV, I now have almost 100,000 miles on this bike. The Yamaha and Honda folks are so much friendlier and nicer and fun to be with and I rally like how they respect all bikes

AIS Less face it, motorcycles and automobile are not allways in perfect tune. With or with out a pollution system they all produce some sort of pollution. Keeping your engine in the best possible tune will cut down on pollution and increase in performance. There should be no different on how the engine runs with or with out the AIS. The back firing can be fixed just may cost a few bucks. Carburetion plays a large part on these bikes. Keep them clean and make sure you allways us the manufacturer specs. Also goto: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14561&highlight=Poor+performance+rough+idle&page=2 I did remove the AIS on my 02 years ago. I decided to remove it because it was added just to meet the us emission laws. I wish I would have tested before and after just to see the difference. I'm sure it would not have been much. I believe a few lawnmowers produce as much hydrocarbons as my bike. I remember after removing the system I found many of the parts had a lot of corrosion in them. I do make a point to keep my engine in the best possible tune at all times. This helps in performance and pollution. Also make sure you use the exact specs from the manufacturer.

I have a 02 and it held air also, but the shock was trashed, had around 60,000 on it. Were double up all the time. Replaced it, man what a deferent's. After calling Shock Works 818.701.1010 and talking to Sanda I decided to go with them, only because the shock can be rebuild by them for about $45.00 or myself for less. Had it for over a year now and I'm happy, had to take a little time to get the adjustments just right.

Info about Mt Rushmore: Once you pay your ticket is good for the week. Make time for the night event. Have breakfast or lunch there the food is good and reasonable. The new hotels in town just off the hill is a good place to stay. Have fun!
