Not to upset anyone, but maybe read this first. In response to the many concerns expressed by my readers, I contacted “my guy” at the Home Depot to confirm that they are still offering a military discount. He assures me that the Home Depot does still offer a 10% military discount all year, and also still offers the 10% veteran’s discount for weekends a year. The discount is available everyday to active military service members and their spouses, as well as National Guard and reserve, retiree and disabled service members and their spouses. We do ask for one of the following IDs: Common Access Card (CAC); Veteran’s Identification Card (VIC – Must state “Service Connected” for the everyday discount); Uniformed Services ID Card (Tan, Red or Blue). In addition, we offer a 10% discount to all military personnel and veterans during patriotic national holidays such as July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Veteran’s Day. Check it out: http://paycheck-chronicles.military.com/2011/05/05/home-depot-still-giving-the-military-discount-year-round-and-the-veterans-discount-4-weekends-a-year/

Free AVG is good but will not catch everything, I used free AVG for years, then decided to go with AVG Internet Security, had it about 6 years, I have 3 License with no virus. Here's why I like AVG, use less memory, don't keep track of my history, stuff like where I go who I'm talking to and so on. I have tryed others , no comparison.

Life span of a spark plug?
Al Bates replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Once a year the plugs get change, (make sure you don’t drive with the chock on or leave it on to long, not good for the plugs) oil about 7,000 miles, air filters every 2 years or when needed, tires I do a good tire check it seem I do change them early. Over 100,000 on this 02 and always 2 up, Diane has around 60,000+ on the back seat. -
Congratulations! From Al & Diane

Bob what every you did was right, no mater what is said, you made it! Not clear on what tire blew, was it the Avon Venoms you ride on or the tire you purchase the bike with. I run the 130 Avon Venoms (front) and on the tire it states max 40 psi, that what I run 39 to 40 psi, Never run tires under or over inflated, always go by whats on the tire, and in extreme heat you never know.

Hagon vs Works Rear Shock
Al Bates replied to ablumny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just a note that may help when looking for a used OEM shock, my findings, most used OEM shocks are worn out, but not all, it’s a large chance to take, at about around 30,000 miles most of them are worn out, or they lose oil or air, in my case I had around 60,000 miles on my 02 before I realized the thing was shot, it was wasted, gone, nothing there. But still had air and oil. You can check your shock by pushing on the back of the bike, just like a car, check for bouncing, spring, spring up and down with no resistance it’s bad, the best way to do this is to fine another new venture or new shock and check the bounce on the new bike then check yours, then check the new bike again, you can really tale the different. . It’s amazing how many drive around with a bad shock and don’t know it, I did for one and riding two up is extremely hard on the shock. Andrew thanks for the info, nice job researching. Hagon vs Works Rear Shock -
Jeff a few things I found out after having the shock (Work Performance Products Inc) (Works Shocks) for a few years, It been an excellent shock, it’s little hard to get the adjustment just right, and a little pricey other then that it’s all good. It’s coming up on a rebuilt soon, and $50.00 for the rebuild, that’s the part I’m liking. You can check your shock by pushing on the back of the bike, check for bouncing, spring, spring up and down with no resistance it’s bad, the best way to do this is to fine another new venture and check the bounce on the new bike then check yours, then check the new bike over and over until you really see the different. . It’s amazing how many drive around with a bad shock and don’t know it, I did for one and riding two up is extremely hard on the shock. If I remember Jeff I sent you the info on the shock. If any one needs the info let me know and I’ll post it again:sun:

Loveless Cafe Annie if you want a cool place to visit and have lunch or dinner around Nashville Tennessee well the Loveless Cafe would be the spot, it's just south west of Nashville in Franklin, that's were all the country stars live, Allen Jackson, Kenny Chesney and so on, the Cafe has great food, and sometimes in the back building you will fine Ricky Skaggs picking with the boys, and you never know who walks in to eat, also the Cafe is at the beginning or end of the Natchez Trace parkway a real nice ride, even in a car, you can see the Natchez Trace from the Cafe, the parkway is 444 miles long, ends up in Mississippi, Check it out, Loveless Cafe 8400 Tennessee 100 Nashville, TN 37221-4012 (615) 646-9700 http://www.lovelesscafe.com/ Natchez Trace park-way http://www.nps.gov/natr/index.htm http://www.google.com/search?q=Natchez+Trace+parkway&hl=en&sa=X&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-ContextMenu&rlz=1I7ADFA_en&biw=1225&bih=719&prmd=ivns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&ei=Clr1TdaZAoTWgQeny93CCw&ved=0CEQQsAQ AL & Diane

Drilling RK Mufflers
Al Bates replied to elmicko's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mick just like Don posted below, when you are done you can see through them, you will need a set of chrome clamps and a set of hangers, you can make the hangers or purchase a set. I attached a template below. You can also purchase another set of HD pipes incase you don't like the drilled out ones. I just purchase a set at this years sweep meet for $25.00 in excellent shape. Another thing not sure what year HD started putting the catalyst converter in the pipes they may be a little harder to drill out. Hope this helps -
At one time I did considered the purple Barnett Pressure plate, after reading a few reviews I decided not to go with it because I was not sure about the clutch lever pressure. I know having a hydraulic clutch should have not made any adifference. All the kits will do the job, there all good kits.
