Need a poll for second gen rear shock
gidzhome replied to CaptainJoe's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
'03 RSV with 63,000 on it. Leaked out at 61,000. Just ordered a factory replacement 4XY-22210-00-00 Partzilla for $490 delivered. The Works replacement shock doesn't have air assist. Riding from 1X up to two up with trailer warrants air assist, in my mind. Compared to autos / trucks, how many vehicles can go 10 years without shock replacements ? Not too many. Only prob is the $ discrepancy when comparing them. Riding without oil is not an option. Is it summer yet ?? -
anyone know the specs for valve clearance adjustments ? '03 RSV1300. Thanks,.

I usually use a half helmet. Seldom don't wear at all. Just put communications in a 3/4 - will try it on this summers long trip (riding with a buddy). Haven't worn a FF in a LONG time - too restrictive. Use chaps when cold, if cool out.

haven't had any cupping with the Venom X's - 20,000 miles so far. use max cold psi.
-
I bought Venom X's AM41/42 from Amazon (Motorcycle Superstore). My prev set of the same have 20,000 miles on them so far and still have at least ~2k left on them. Have worn VERY evenly. Using thr H in the front and HB in the rear. Pull a trailer a fair bit too. Love these. '03 RSV

really ? I didn't see it the first time. I'll look again. Thanks

I know simple enough, but what way does the wavy metal stamped steel piece rest, that sits above the pads / slide pins. I put on new pads and it just deosn't seem to sit right ! and I lost the flat plastic cover that snaps over the top of it too. A pic would help show correct positioning please Thanks

all good posts here. I had two hoses on the front of my F150 do the bicuspid thing too - replacing them cured the pronlem. Never bend the hoses WAY out of position, or let the weight of the caliper hang on the hose.

I'll take one - XL, tall if possible.

All, This was my first MD get together. I have to say, this group of folks have to be the nicest bunch I've met in a long time. People would ask if they could help while I was doing some routine maint on my bike... "can I hold that for you ?, need a hand ?", mostly without asking. I'm sorry, I don't remember members names much, but you know who you are... Thanks for the help and going out of your way a new member feel like he's part of the group. John
