  1. I don't have that kind of relation with my parents, but would love it if our kids continue to have that with their mom when they get older.
  2. I had an 06 rstd midnight, traded it last year in Ft Worth. But, it had it really bad. I had it swapped out with the I basket (comes with a G basket if I remember correctly). It helped a lot with mine. It was still there, but very tolerable. I think Yamaha calls it the primary. At one time we posted the actual part # for it somewhere. If you go this route, you'll also need to order the cover gasket. Like some have said, theirs came back over time, mine didn't. Also, thick oil like 20w50 will make it worse.
  3. Cst, I had an 06 rstd midnight I couldn't give it away and ended up trading it. Just something to consider. The rsv's may have a better resale. Not a lot of people want the rstd's.
  4. I never did put the passing lamps on mine. I was perfectly content with my led headlamp. Most of the passing lamps I see on the road aren't any more affective to me than a single headlamp on high beam unless they have the led sunspots.
  5. Maybe a little to late, but the brake light wiring can also be accessed directly behind the license plate.
  6. I like the chrome...or maybe the black background on the '12 headlamps.
  7. I don't allow restaurant waitresses to take my card to pay the bill. Anal yes, but worth the piece of mind.
  8. I'm hoping for a mild summer, two months if 100-110 was rough last year.
  9. I ran his business name thru safersys.org and didn't see a us dot # on him. If it were me, I would not use anyone without a us dot # to ship across state lines. Also will need to confirm thru safersys.org they also have their mc# (insurance requirements). If they don't have either I would not use them. Very glad that you did get your bike. There's a lot people using pickups and enclosed trailers operating under the rules thinking they're not a big truck and don't need all that. The majority do know it, but don't want to pay to operate legally.
  10. According to CBS news it began leaking lighter fluid which was ignited from the open flame. Twenty eight days later he died from his injuries. They had some video from the families attorney that had recreated a similar incident with another lighter.
  11. Just watched a story on CBS where MK lighters from China can malfunction allowing the flame to stay lite after you release to the button. The story was on a man that put the lighter back into pants pocket where it ignited setting him on fire, resulting in his death.
  12. Speed limits are determined by each state since 1995, prior to that the Feds set the national speed limits from 1973 to 1995 to states that wanted highway funding (if I understand it right). They do studies to determine what an appropriate speed limit should be. For example, west Tx may be set at 85 mph due to the amount of traffic vs another state that a higher percentage of traffic. Do they make sense, sometimes.
  13. Can't remember, is that every year?
  14. Louisiana, I renew my tags on these two every two years. 08 Ford Edge $56 98 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 $40. My ST1300 I just bought doesn't expire till 2015. When I lived SC seems like we had to pay property taxes on everything and was alot more expensive. Will never go back there!
  15. I also agree with the bright reflective vests. I know it may not always work and may look gooberish, but consider if you do get hit or ran over your family has a better chance in civil court.
  16. Don't feel bad, mine won't ride two up on the ST1300. She said it looked to Tokyoish.
  17. There was a member who mounted the Memphis shade on his....If you can find those post.
  18. Typical bs....that's why we see so many crashes with cars using their donut spare (sarcastically saying). Apprently she didnt notice the difference prior to the crash, she obviously kept driving it till she crashed. Politics is still very much alive and well. I watched a woman watching me write a ticket run into the back of another car. I wrote her for careless operation and had it video and the judge dismissed it. Her defense was he cut in front of her, which he did change lanes per state law, she just wasn't watching him. You can tell when it's a bro-n- law deal in court.
  19. You will find a wealth of knowledge and some really nice folks here, it's more than worth it to get the membership. Good luck on your rstd! What year model did you get?
  20. I pm'd awhile back on a metal polish and haven't heard back from him.
  21. ?...does the annual fee, ex: $100 year, pay for the towing, tire changes, etc?
  22. Good luck in Mexico....hope the cartel doesn't decide to use you or your family for ransom or you get caught up in a cartel shoot out. I used to get a lot of pics from remains of their shoot outs....very impressive at the fire power they roll with, way more than the avg patrol officer. I'm with Chief, no way would I use my credit card down there.
  23. I'm gonna argue the differ....I just can't see how riding in the left track on a two lane road is safe whether your alone or the front rider. 1: If someone is overly aggressive and wants to pass another vehicle, they're are not gonna see you until they're almost on top of you versus being in the right track where your more visible from a greater distance. 2: Semi's are always blowing tires out, loads shift, etc. Do you really think it's safe to pass one at three to four feet apart or eight to ten. Again, if someone is directly behind it and wants to step out to pass, its even harder for them to see you if your in the left tract. 3: in an emergency situation, someone crosses the center line, it's gonna take alot more distance to swerve right to miss them in the left trac vs the right. I personally want that area of cushion to avoid being hit head-on.
  24. If you go with one of the HID kits, there have been posts about defective parts etc. Maybe they purchased ones made in China, who knows?
