I had the mustang on my 06 RSTD and didn't like it. For me it was to shallow and had me up on the tank. I'm 6' 240 lbs. if your smaller it may not be an issue.

Techron just made me a believer!!!!!!!!!!
jfoster replied to usedcyclesales's topic in Watering Hole
Serious question....no bs'n! I get pure gas with no ethanol and no additives (cheap gas by old standards). I've been treating it with either 3/4 of an oz with B12 or 1 oz of Seafoam per gallon. Now Techron is more expensive than Seafoam. Now would one recommend skipping Seafoam and B12 for Techron every 3k miles? Thoughts! -
Another handlebar question
jfoster replied to dwatson636's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
There may be a clearance issue putting the RSV bars on a RSTD with the speedometer, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Previously, everyone that posted changing the bars out went with the Flanders, but I think someone stated they discontinued them. Give it some time, others will chime in with more accurate information. -
Do they make a 21'' tire kit for '01 royal star

Awhile back some posted putting a stratoliner wheel on the front and it looked sharp. Don't remember what he had to do to make the swap. -
That may be why the one out by the big road is always working with it getting more use... or it sees more VR riders!

I like my shakes and sundays like the next guy. But atleast 50% of the time I go to our local McD's they say the machine is broke. How do you break an icream machine? Has anyone else experienced this with them? We do have a DQ and maybe I need to change venders. One day all I could say was "REALLY" !

What color did you get? Regardless what people say about the shaky idle, mine is very smooth thru the rpm range. Coming from a RSTD to a Roadking...very satisfied with mine. Especially with better fuel mileage, quite drive tran and air flow. I had to put the heritage style bars on to get the ergonomics right, not sure how the RG's are.

The Triumph looks nice....the Yamaha video looks like a mid sized chain drive to keep with all the new chain drive 700's from Honda.

In the missions I've been to especially the high profile ones where the member was KIA a lot of clubs would come along with PGR members and everyone in between. That's pretty much the norm. But usually they don't come to missions where a vet has passed from illness or age unless they knew him. But now it seems one club is coming for whatever reasons except to hold a flag in a flag line in my area. Maybe the pres. is good friends with the PGR?
-
I haven't been to a PGR funeral in awhile mainly because the local mc clubs have been using them as a means to be seen. Proir to the mc club getting involved I enjoyed standing with the PGR guys and vets that were there. The last one I went to I think there may have been 20 of the PGR guys to 50-75 club riders that didn't care to do anything but hang out and bs. Please don't get me wrong, I have the upmost respect for the PGR and what it stands for. Just don't want to be part of someone else's agenda.

AirHawk pillion size
jfoster replied to irbk's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The one I have is 14 x 14.5 and my pillon seat is 14" wide like yours. I know they came out with some different designs in the last couple of years and I have one of the first designs. Here's some pics of mine and how it covers the seats. If your wife is like mine and doesn't like the hard seat she'll like the airhawk. Especially with the adjustability of it. When Rick reworked our seats she couldn't tell much difference on the pillon like I could on the operators seat. In the pics, I now have a Roadking, but similar in size to the RSTD to give you an idea. -
AirHawk pillion size

2nd Rick's Butler mood! It will make the operators seat way more comfortable. As far as the rear pillion is concerned, I have the medium and its a tad big. The wife just tucks alittle bit of it under the backrest and is comfortable. I tried it on the operators seat and didn't like it. It bunches up under you due to the contour of the seat. To me, they work very well on a flat surface like the rear pulling. -
Yes sir: 36th week in 2001.

Your car is also an extension of your home and can have a concealed weapon inside. No property taxes under $75k.
-
There will be a four digit # somewhere on the side wall. The first two represent the week of the year and the last two are the year. Example 1509 or 5112 (51st week of 2012)

I would seriously consider the RSV! RSTD's have a very slow resale. I and others have had a hard time selling them where as the RSV's tend to resale much better. On the other hand you can get a RSTD cheap. If you only ride locally you can pull the trunk and go far the HD standard or street glide look plus have the radio. As far as weight difference, the only difference is the fairing and the trunk and a slightly larger fuel tank. If I bought another Yamaha it would be the RSV!

Same here....

Thanks Eck.

For those that have put HD mufflers on their RSV or RSTD, did you feel they had better exhaust flow. I'm considering putting RSV mufflers on my Roadking (shocking yes). I personally liked the quieter sound and to me, my RSTD sounded better than the stock RK. I'm more curious if the Yamaha's are more restrictive?

In Louisiana, every vehicle is required to carry liability. What the majority of those that are uninsured do is get their policy and after the first month they cancel the policy (democrates are notorious for it). They will still carry their insurance card to try to claim they're insured. However, must of the time their insurance carrier will notify the dmv of the cancellation and the dmv will flag their driver's license and their registration. We like others have uninsured coverage for property damage and medical injury. If you have full coverage (comprehensive / collision) it will cover the property damage if they don't have insurance, so I've been told by my agent. If you only have liabilty, I strongly recommend having uninsured motorist. Then we have uninsured coverage for medical expenses. Like some, I elected not to carry it. As Condor pointed out it may come back to bit me. But I pay a lot for good health insurance too.

One sweet RS...
jfoster replied to dbikers's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
They function so much better without the lower fairing. I wished the '06 RSTD I had didn't have them. After I got the Roadking, I realized how bad the lower fairing disrupted the air flow and the buffeting they created. -
What about putting speakers in her helmet since she doesn't want to use earbuds. Webbike was advertising some larger speakers to replace the Sena speakers that could plug right into her phone/ipod etc. Tork xpro speakers.

Super unleaded would definitely be a deal breaker for me too.

My parents just bought a '12 F150 with the ecoboost. I've test drove theirs and really liked it. Unlike most engines you have to get the rpms up to get any power out of them, they pull from the time you mash the peddle. With that I haven't drove the 5.0. But it too is a new motor that just came out in '10 or '11. Its not tried and true either, not the same 5.0 from the '90s. I'm not a gear head, but I tend to think they're tuned for reliability more so than performance. They're only producing 80 more horsepower than the naturally aspirated 3.5 liter. Plus Ford is putting them in the Tauras, Explorer, and the Flex. For me, it would come down to the price difference (which one is cheaper)!
