How Fast Can Ride Comfortably
jfoster replied to jfoster's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Pegscraper...a reguler style open face helmet. The worst was the half-helmet, 2nd worse was 3/4 helmet. I've got a full face and find the open face is also more comfortable. My wife has the open face with the flip up face shield and she really likes. it. -
How Fast Can Ride Comfortably

jburrell, sorry its an 06 RSTD Has anyone used or seen the SlipStreamer Enterprise II on a RSTD? -
I like to ride the interstate and for me about 65 mph is max on a windy day and 70 on a calm day without the discomfort of buffeting, etc. I've had the windshield lowered 4 inches. Is this about the same for everyone else or what have you guys found that works better to improve interstate riding. I've also went through three helmets till I found the most compatible with the buffeting. Secondly, am I asking to much from a non-fairing bike...My goal is to ride comfortably at 70. Should I go back to the tall windshield? I can't remember what it was like, just knew I hated looking through it.

I got the medium size and seems to fit the front seat pretty good. It also fits the rear seat pretty good, too. The wife used it on our 1100 mile ride on our RSTD and she loved it. Compared to our previous ride of 850 miles without it, she was hurting. On the front seat, it does lift you up about an 1/2 inch.

MiCarl...I haven't heard that word since reconstruction.

The Best Fuel
jfoster replied to ManWithAVision's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
That's what I like about the Royal Stars...Regular Fuel. I've always pondered if you buy gas at a station that feeds all three grades through one hose. How much of the regular to do you get before the super gets to the tank. I've ran both and honestly couldn't tell any difference (with pumps that each grade has its on hose). -
I had the corbin on a VTX...the wife hated it, said it was to hard. I thought it was comfortable. But, for me after an hour and half my butt burned just like it did on a mustang. The corbin to me has a better mold than the mustang, kind a like riding on a horse saddle.

For some reason, the HD crowd are a bunch of idiots. I used to truck, and they loved to ride on the zipper. I hated it for them but, I was running the shoulder for them or anyone else. They get hit by a piece of rubber or road debri, oh well. If you act like a d.a. you get treated like one.

Pops, maybe its me but, it looks like the yamaha fairing sets lower and would do a better job of deflecting the air away from the fuel tank than the aftermarket HD fairings.

I've got a mustang seat, plain with the backrest and rear pillion I'm thinking of selling. they're a year old with approximately 9500 miles on it. There all in very good condition with no tears or worn areas. What do you guys think a fair price would be on them. Thanks

Can you find a trooper or deputy that will clock your speed. That's what I did after installing mine. We checked it at 60 and at 70 mph to dial it in.

Is there anyone within 150 miles of Many La. that can or will do a carb sync. I don't mind paying to have it done. I just don't trust our local dealers to do it right. PS Many is located apprx 60 miles south of Shreveport. 06 RSTD.

Shifter adjustment?
jfoster replied to Shipper's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
If I understand you right...if your wanting to adjust the height of the shifter. You can loosen the adjustment nuts and turn it in either direction to either raise or lower it. Once you get it to your liken, tighten the nuts back out.- 4 replies

Canuck, there's a picture of them on DiamondR's website under the overstuffed backrest for the venture. In that link you'll see them in the picture. But, its not a good close up on how he made the mounting bracket.
-
Perm44 if you go to gold star venders and click on the diamondR accers, go to products for the venture and click on the padded back rest. In the photo you'll see the ones that they used to make on the bike. I couldn't find any close up pictures of how its made. One of the members said that he has a set and that they bolt to the side of the engine and work really well.
-
No sir, Diamond R made a set of wings that bolted to the side of the engine. The wings came up beside the fuel tank just behind the lower fairing. The quit making them sometime ago.
-
Does anyone have a set of the Diamond R airwings, that mounts directly behind the lower fairing, 2nd Gen? DiamondR doesn't sell them anymore. I'd like to make a set if anyone can describe how they're mounted and what they're mounted to. Also, curious to how affective they are in reducing buffeting. Thanks

That's awesome...I quit at 28 yrs old, smoking 2-3 packs a day for 10 years. For me it was a battle that lasted for about a year. It seemed after the one year point I had lost all the urges but, after 10 years I still from time to time have dreams where I smoked one. If it helps, for me the biggest thing that helped was starting a new routine. PS..I still love me coffee.

Upper Wind deflector for 06 RSTD
jfoster replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Shady did you ever find a set of deflectors? I've looked at the baker wings, but the photo doesn't really tell you anything. They almost look like they hang to far out to do any good. For me, I don't like the way the air comes around the fuel tank then curves up hitting your arms and chest, creating more buffeting. I personally wish they made a piece that would fit right behind the lower fairing along side the front of the fuel tank. -
Laminar Lip makes some ears that attach to the side of the windshield that makes it about 6-7 wider. I put a set on my RSTD and seems to help create a bigger wind pocket especially on windy days. They use a type of 3m fasteners that will pill off if need me. If you go to there website, look under cruisers and scroll to the bottom. They have a 15 inch and a10 inch. I've tried tried the lip that goes at the top of the windshield and found that it creates more of a suction and didn't really help on buffeting.
