  1. Their seats are shallow for the RSTD, by the looks its the same for the RSV...I had one for my RSTD and it puts all you weight on your hip bones mainly because there is so little seat to actually sit on. Maybe their seat model is 150lbs with a 32" waist.
  2. Same here, the softer the better.
  3. Through out my days of running radar on the big road, I've observed a constant. I see alot guys from a Bandido, to sport bikes, and even one silver Venture (u know who u are-and u'r welcome) running at 83 mph on the money. Curiousity, is there something special about 83 mph?
  4. My 06 avg's 35-40. You may be getting gas with ethanol this year that you weren't getting last year. I've heard that bit of ethanol will decrease our fuel mileage.
  5. Not to mention the radiation!
  6. I haven't used in my m/c, but I use it in my patrol vehicle. Smells like paint thinner and burns like hell, if you get it on you.
  7. I agree the vent is worth it....one feature bout the vent is when closed it acts like a defroster pushing air up the backside of the shield. Like another said, it allows air to fill in behind it where it would normally create a vacuum effect making air flow more smoothly. As far as bugs and debrie, its never been an issue for me.
  8. Metzlers front and rear....no problems, rear 13k the front still running it with bout 10k on it. Both tires have held up with no problems. Currently running E3 on the rear to see what kind of mileage I get out of it.
  9. Push come to shove...you can always get the tall one and have it cut down to your specs. Not expensive, my local glass shop did mine for around $25. Being that your planning on replacing the one you got, that would made a good canidate.
  10. Good luck...definitely not for me. I'd have to be very highly medicated for such torture. This time of year is for nite rides....n La.
  11. I rode a demo with bout 350 miles on it...To be fair, I only road it bout 15-20 miles. To me the front end felt awkard and I expected more out of the full fairing. It had alot of buffetting with the winshield all the way down at 70 mph. I know must recommend alot more miles to truly evaluate any m/c.
  12. I've been thinking hard about getting away from a cruiser style bike altogether. Like some have said, "some people can't find a comfortable spot for long rides." I've been looking at the R1200RT, sport tourer, and everytime I find a used one its gone (sold). Maybe its just me but it looks like its not uncommmon to get $2k over nada for them. Unlike, everything else you can expect to loose atleast $1k to $3k from nada. Looking forward to a test ride, hopefully it won't be a let down like the GW was.
  13. Mine did it, but it was only when I hit a bump. I touched everything I could and could never find it. It eventually went away. When it was new, one of the bolts came out of the brake caliper causing it to rattle.
  14. Tribal signs instead of flames....maybe a square headlight like the 1st gen.
  15. I'm glad you found this out...I use the PH6017A. Atleast now I know I can use something else if they are out. I gave up on brand issues a long time ago as far as oil filters are concerned...Unless they're being used on a race engine and changed regularly, I doubt the life of an engine will ever be an issue.
  16. I will, not sure when he was coming back...the neighbor said he's a real sociable kind of guy. I'm thinking I'll try to ride back over there Friday or Saturday.
  17. Coming thru Juaquin Texas today, I passed by an old run down building with an old black and yellow yamaha sign. So, I stopped and was amazed! In the window was what looked like a new 80 something yamaha 1100 midnite edition inline 4 with about a 1/8" of dust. in the front room of this old store, I saw atleast 15-20 motors from Decati's, yamaha's, indian's, etc. Some looked new, some used. I walked next door and man said I was the 3rd one today to ask bout the store. Unfortunately for me the owner was in Austin. The neighbor store said he had a ton of motorcycles, some still in the crate. He used to be a yamaha dealer back when. In short it was like looking thru a time window and from what I saw it was so cool. I plan on going back later this week or next and see if he'll give the tour and for those 1st generation guys I'll keep my eyes pealed. And I'll take a my camera:)
  18. I would look at the denali's led aux lights...I know if I did alot of riding I would really look hard at them, bright and low draw on the electrical system. Webbike had an article on them.
  19. Thanks for the input..., i'll do the b/w photo to get a perspective.
  20. I know this is off the wall..but curiousity has the best of me. For those that are, can u see the (color) blue led's on patrol vehicles or are there any other colors that would are more visible, like red or yellow? Forgive me for my ignorance on the subject...I was thinking of adding some yellow led's in addition to the blue lights to back of my unit for doing details on the interstate, etc.
  21. The best I've found in NW La and east Tx, has been in Mansfield La. on La. 513 on the south side of town (J and J's). Small little shop with bout 4 chairs. Always consistent meat and sauce and the best potatoe salad I've ever had.
  22. 2nd that on the utopia...have had no problems with it. If I remember right, they tell exactly what drill bit to use to enlarge the two holes, very simple to install.
  23. I couldn't find any weather stripping thin enough...I tried the velcro and it worked perfectly. Its not air tight, but it filled the small gap perfectly and reduced the popping sound from the wind by atleast 50%.
  24. To me the fulmer was very comfortable...so I made some changes. I filled up the vent holes with hot glue sealing them off and I put 3/8 inch strip of velcro (soft side) around the top of the shield. I will say it has made a dramatic difference. I can't tell any difference with the holes plugged as far as heat is concerned. It did make it alot quiter. The strip of velcro around the face shield stopped the wind popping noises due to the small gap between the sheild and the helmet. I wish I'd came up with this before buying the HJC, which doesn't fit as good.
  25. If it was accurate before the battery issue...I would try to find out what happened. I've got the speedohealer on mine and love it, but mine like the rest was fast from day one.
