  2. Just put about 75 miles on it this evening, beautiful weather to try her out:cool10: The wife went along and loved her new half...pics coming soon.
  3. I just purchased an 01 Venture with 22/k miles, I'll get pics posted as soon as I can... I did sell the Busa to pay for it! Still got the RSTD and CBR!!!
  4. Like most (not all) Harley riders, your husband sounds like a "poser". Someone who pays 1/3 more for a bike because of the "Harley" name on it. He loads up on the cool t-shirts, window stickers for his truck, and anything with the brand written on it, and this is what he bases his buying decision on. As you can see by my sig., I'm not brand loyal, I buy the best. I do the research and make a decision not based on what others think.
  5. I can't compare the two but I can tell you how much I love my 06 RSTD. When my wife isn't riding with me I pull off the front windshield and passenger seat to have that "custom" look:thumbsup2: I have a chrome fender guard that goes in place of the passenger seat and also covers up the bolt holes in the fender. I'll get some pics over the weekend and post.
  6. I'll jump off my RSTD and get on my 380lb. CBR 929RR and it feels like a bicycle! :banana:Gotta love the speed though:cool17:
  7. I have a RSTD with the WW's...sooooo much better!
  8. I agree with Ruffy, The Avon's were a huge improvement over the "Brickstones" but the 130 tends to be a little less "planted" at 70 and above. I'll probably go back to the 150 next time around. Either way you would be happy with the Avons.
  9. It should look awsome, can't wait for the pics.
  10. Just put the Avon Venom's on about 600 miles ago:dancefool:You will get many different opinions on what to put on but almost all will tell you what to take off (the brickstones)
  11. I just wanted to say "thanks" to Moakster, Ponch, and Goose for a great day of fixing up my baby:thumbsup2:. New tires front and back (Avon Venoms), rear brakes, carb sync, and CO check! All this with some great stories, helpful tips, and gaining some useful knowledge too. :thumbsup:Good company, cold beer, cool tunes, and motorcycles...it don't get any better than that!!! I look forward to our next get together! ps Goose, enjoy your trip around Texas with your brother!
  12. Hey Goose, I have my tires and am ready to head out in the morning. I'll leave the house about 7am and should be in your driveway about 10. Looking forward to a fun day:banana:, Thanks again.
  13. March 7th it is! I'll be there...
  14. Goose. March 7th or 8th is fine with me, whatever works best for everyone.
  15. Looks like we got the makings of a pretty good get together! I placed an order for the tires and the Morgan carb sync last night, should have both in a couple of weeks...:cool10: I really appreciate ya'll taking the time to help me learn to do these things on my own.
  16. Thanks for all the help, I placed an order last night for the Avon Venoms in the Wide White Walls!
  17. Hey Goose, I would love to take you up on your offer! :superman:I have an '06 RSTD and want to learn how to change tires, carb sync, and carb mixture:pushups:. I'll have to order the tires but can get with you any weekend that works for you after they arrive. Maybe some others would like to learn these same things? We can all cordinate a day that works. What tools do I need to purchase? (for future tire changes, carb sync's and fuel mixtures). p.s. what kind of beer?
  18. WOW!...thanks for the info , looks like I could get by for under $500 and have some quality sound too.
  19. That could work, I know the quality of small speakers has got better over the past few years. Possibly a marine speaker for weatherproofing??? Does anyone have any suggestions on some quality speakers that would be small and look good too?
  20. Has anyone attempted to mount a stereo system on an OEM windshield? I looked at the sites for the fairings and batwings and it appears I would be out a couple thousand dollars just to get some tunes. I was looking at the space above the instrument cluster and it got me to thinking...
  21. I love mine (with adaptor)...I always face mine with the kick stand on the other side of the jack handle and have the K/S down just in case it comes down too fast.
  22. Thanks for the info...I think I have decided on the Avons, I'll get with my local dealer and let ya'll know how it all turns out.
  23. I have done some checking and have found the rear tire in a white wall from Avon seems pretty simple, Avon Venom Bias Touring 150/90x15 WWW but the front tire is not so simple... I found an Avon Venom 150/80 HB 16 but does not appear to be available in a WWW. I found an Avon Venom AM41 Bias Touring MT90-16 WWW but I don't know if this is the size I need. I would like a nice set of Avons front and back with factory specs in a wide white wall...Help!
