when i was 18 years old i got caught in a sudden storm, was headin home on my honda 500 custom. Raining in sheets, came out from behind some trees and got caught by a huge windgust. It blew me into the ditch at about 50 mph. Of course it was really wet grass, i just hung with it kinda like a dirt tracker siding it in sideways ending up going down in the ditch backend first. The ditch was next to a railroad track where they were doing work, when i came to a stop i backed into a bunch of fresh clay. I was pretty much stuck right there, but i was still upright. The point is, everything in your mind seems to slow down, dont panic. There will be plenty of time to crap your pants after it is over. All these accidents need some sort of luck, but the mind is a powerfull thing. Just stay with it good things usually happen to minimize the damage.

went on a ride yesterday with 2 H-D street glides, and 1 gold wing. approximately 90 miles round trip. rode into a 25 mph wind on way out, when we got back we all filled up our tanks together. My rstd used almost a half gallon more gas than the others. We rode pretty hard on the way back, but everybody rode the same.

if you got stranded on an island for 1 year, and could only have one album to listen to, what would it be. It has to be by a group or artist. It can be a greatest hits, but it cant be a compilation or a movie soundtrack etc. just thought it would be fun to see what people come up with:680:

bj66 replied to CharcoalRSTD's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk

I bought a Vega Summit 2 a few weeks ago. Like it alot, havent got alot of use yet cause of the weather. I got a xxl and it seems to me that it fits well, and there is room between your chin and the front bar. also it sits lower on my head, I tried on an Hjc Cl-max and it felt like my chin stuck out the bottom. All in all i like the summit 2, bought it from helmet express for about 125$. I think you could do alot worse than this helmet, alot worse in fact.

In South Dakota, of course you have to go to the Black Hills. Besides Mnt. Rushmore, there are alot of must see places. Keystone is close has alot of touristy shops and an 1880's train ride. Also has helicopter rides to get close to Mnt Rushmore. You should see Deadwood as well. You'll want to travel Iron mnt road, and go through Spearfish canyon as well. you could easily spend a couple of days or more. There is a video of iron mnt road ride in the regional destinations forum on here. its pretty cool. Plan it right and you can hit Sturgis as well!

Who makes the best quality slip-ons?
bj66 replied to DOHCGT's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
i've got the Barons slash cuts. They sound nice, but they are loud. I'm gonna have to wrap the baffles. They will still be loud. -
The only difference between a Cockshutt and a Co-op is the paint. Cockshutt is red, Co-op is orange. The Co-op were sold in the U.S., not that you could'nt get a Cockshutt down here, but that was the reason. I like my E-4 Co-op, I pull it in stock classes of antique pulls. nice transmission, the hi-low gives me a good low gear. Also has live power as well. The only thing I need for mine, is the grille, and center strip for it. Need to find the Co-op strip.

isnt that a Cockshutt 30 or 40. Didnt get a real good look at it but I have a co-op E4 that looks pretty similar

Congrats from me as well, I chewed for 18 years, finally decided that i'd had enough. After a couple of months I thought, if I can do that I'm gonna try to quit drinkin too! I'm still goin strong and dont really think of either one that much. Although i will have a glass or two of wine on christmas. A little will-power can go a long ways. It's been seven years now, only problem is the thirty pounds i've gained. I should probly try that will-power out on a diet though!!!

Finally got the bike out yesterday, took a quick spin on it. Sounds good, loud though. I was talkin to a neighbor this morning. He said he could hear me ridin it a mile and a half away. He said it sounded good, really cackles. Also said when we go riding he's gonna be in front of me. I'll probobly wrap them to quiet them down some.- 30 replies

I guess the guys were illegal aliens from the Denver area. Doesnt take long to get that far when you get out on the open road right away. The town is only about 300 people. Located 10 miles from a town of of about 35000. If you can avoid the big town right away, you can make good time. It said on the news last night, that they looked on purpose for a small town isolated bank. Thought that it would be easy. That is the 3rd time the bank has been robbed since the early 70's. Nobody has gotten away yet. all of em have been caught.

I finally decided on a vega summit II helmet. did a lot of looking, tried the HJC ISMAX helmet, it was ok. didnt fit me quite right. My head is right between a xl and 2xl. probly would of worked with a 2xl and xl cheek pads. The inner sun visor could of been a little lower, and it felt like my chin stuck out the bottom. Also front bar was awfully close to my face. Ordered the vega online. Trusted reviews I'd seen on internet. Ordered a 2xl. according to their size chart my melon fits right in the middle of a 2xl. Pleasantly surprised, received it tonight. Put it on, no forehead pinch! the chinbar gives more room, and you dont feel like your chin is sticking out either. I havent had a chance to ride with it yet, dont know how quiet it is. Also like speaker pockets sewn into the liner. So far I'm real happy. No problem with glasses either. I'd say if your looking for a new helmet you could do worse than this. Much worse in fact.

Town is located south of Aberdeen. I guess they put the employees in the vault etc. The police caught them heading east of aberdeen approx 20 miles or so from the interstate. Put out a spike strip.

Times must be gettin tough. The local small town bank got robbed this afternoon. Don't have all the specifics, other than they caught the guys. They made it about 60 miles away. As far as I know nobody got hurt. They never think that a small town bank will be tough, but they never realize that the locals know everybody in town, and can spot something out of place right away. Police got a great description and didnt take long to get them.

I gotta say that was really neat, she's lucky to have that. I didnt quite expect to see it from that kind of view. I bet she doesnt mind you running around filming her now! The music makes it special. You deserve a pat on the back for doin that!

i've got an 08 Tundra. Nice truck, quiet, nice ride, fuel mileage isnt the best. I don't look for the best mileage when I buy a truck, or i'll never get what I need. The trans. is great for towing. 6 speed auto, but you can switch it over to a manual trans. no clutch. my truck is bucket seats with shifter on console beside your seat. All you do is move the shifter over in the shift pattern and the truck automatically goes into 4th gear. Then all you do to shift gears is "bump" the shifter forward for 5th, or backward for 3rd etc. it's pretty slick. use this along with the tow haul button and it's a nice set up. Would work real well in the mountains I would guess. I live is So Dak. so i havent got it into the mountains yet. Have pulled a trailer quite a bit. In the last 10 years I've had 2 dodges and 2 fords. This is the best of em all. So far I've put 20000 miles on it and love it. By the way, power isn't a problem:hihi::hihi:
