Just got home from vacation and thought id try out the set of wally world seat beads i bought. Thought id try them cause they are cheap, if they dont work for me im not out much. I ran them for a short ride of about 20 miles, and I dont like em. I cant get comfortable at all. I'm glad nobody was following me cause as much as i was shifting around on the seat trying to get comfy, i must of looked like a dog dragging his butt on the carpet or something......lol. Anyway they arent for me and i wont order a good set to fit my seat. I'll have to try something else.

Was thinking on adding something to my RSTD seat to give me a little help in the comfort department. Went on a 750 mile round trip ride last weekend, got a tad sore, and was thinking about beads. Not sure if the sheepskin would be better though. This topic has probly been gone over before, if so, sorry for bringing it up again. Sending the seat to Rick Butler would be the best solution, but will have to wait. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I went out for a short ride tonight, and since it was almost dark i was almost idling home the last few miles. (alot of deer out running around) Anyway i noticed a faint ticking sound in the front end. It sounds like it ticks about once per revolution of the tire. I havent really ridden my bike this way before, so never have heard anything like it. I doubt it could be brakes, cause it isnt constant. My next thought was speedometer cable? Tomorrow i will try to jack the bike up and spin it by hand and see if i can hear anything. Any ideas woul be appreciated. Oh it has a little over 7000 miles on it

I had a 08 Polaris Sportsman 500 atv. It was ok and did the job pushing snow, but it wasnt quite what I wanted. I decided to start pricing a side by side instead. So after some investigating and some research, the fun began. To make a long story short, I am the owner of a 09 Kawasaki Teryx. This thing is a blast. Oh and by the way, got a good deal to boot.....

im gonna have to think about this, my fishtails are awfully loud as well. They are V-Twin manufacturing pipes.

the first improvement other than a backrest, in my opionion is tires. I have the same color 08. I couldnt make myself take off tires that werent worn out. But when i did change them, you cant believe how much better the bike handles. i added white walls to mine, really like the way the colors set off the white walls. You're really going to love this bike. Here is a pic of mine.

you guys are gonna think im nuts for this but. I hadnt ridden in about 10 years or so. Last bike was a yammie 750. My first bike was a kawasaki 90 enduro when i was 8. I had a couple of other enduros etc. then a 3 wheeler, then finally a 82 honda 500 custom street bike. All of them were fun etc. But when I decided to ride again. I knew i didnt want to start on a new HD. I kind of did some research etc, finally decided on a tour deluxe. I never rode one or anything. I figured id like whatever I got on, cause it would be so much better than the old 750. I bought my bike at a dealer 300 miles away, and trailered it home. That is when I first started it, even heard it. Within 30 miles of riding it felt like I had been riding all this time. It never occured to me how big the bike is until i got on my buddies HD a year later. The RSTD/Ventures are huge compared to the HD bikes. But not knowing any better it never occured to me. I live in a rural communty and could get out and ride with very little traffic and take my time. My buddy was understanding and was in no hurry to get anywhere, so it worked real well for me. Of course i had alot of past riding to remember from. My decison to get the tour deluxe was a great one for me, and I'll never regret it. My situation is different than most, But the decison to go with the RSTD was perfect for me. I have to admit I was a little nervous when i let the clutch out right away, but within the first mile I knew i made the right choice. Plus I dont have to go bigger, they dont get much bigger than that!

now i got to tell my buddy about this section on the wings. I have been telling him how good this site is, and that there were wing riders on here, now he will have a reason to come onboard!

come check out the chat room sometime, there are usually a bunch of squirrels hanging around in there. Must be so, cause we are all nuts, and squirrels love nuts!

if you want to have a stereo and not break the bank, try this site. the speakers are waterproof the tuner isnt. You can plug in your mp3 player, or listen to fm radio if you want.http://www.gooddeals18.com/product/SHKMSM2050K/new-Motorcycle--yacht-2-speakers--amplifier--radio--usb--sd--wireless-remote.html I have the 100 watt set. it is ok. i have barons slash cut pipes on my 08, they are loud. and i can still hear the radio, but you may want to go with a little more power. Also I dont usually wear a helmet, so that makes a big difference. nice color on the bike it looks familiar

96 RSTC guts coming out of exhaust
bj66 replied to bomajoma's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Like the colors.....nice bike -
Exactly what I am doing with mine. Going with the older retro look. I put on white walls, different turn signal covers, the fishtails are a little long but hey it gives it character. Also put on a cheap radio that hooks up my mp3. Most important thing i did, was add a backrest right away. Also added passing lamps, and a receiver hitch for cooler rack. I should be all set for a long trip. Here is a few pics

heck as long as you are posting pics of the guts, lets have a couple of pics of the bike -
I made a reciever hitch for my bike. Since I have all the stuff to make one, I did. Anyway a friend of mine was helping me, and we decided we needed a reciever hitch cover. He used to demo derby a lot, and had some odds and ends lying around. He came up with an emblem off from a 1964 Chrysler Imperial. It is perfect, and a great idea. It works pretty good. I am not going to pull a trailer, but made a small rack to carry a cooler. I did test load everything to see where to place all my stuff before heading on a trip for a long weekend. Next thing is to test ride it. Here is a few pics!

97 RSTD Buying advice
bj66 replied to Erikh425's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
i bought my rstd from Larsons cycle in Cambridge, and havent regretted it at all. Its an 08. I havent had a HD to compare it to, but as a touring bike it is nice. I do ride with HD's quite a bit, and they love the sound from it, but i do notice comparing at fuel stops, that I seem to always add about a 1/2 gallon more at each stop. But who cares about that. I have added a few goodies, but not a bunch. Put on some aftermarket pipes if you like some noise and have a blast. I do recomend a drivers backrest though, first thing i did. I wont ride without it now. Here is some pics -

I suppose I get a little carried away when passing on a motorcycle, especially trucks and semis. I farm for a living and i have my own semi. I have first hand experience of having a tire let go on my truck. Not a good deal. I cant imagine what it would be like to be beside a truck when that happens. So when passing them I will wind it out and get by as quickly as possible. Usually a downshift, then hammer on it is sufficient. But in certain instance like a gravel truck or something, there may be a 30 mph differential when going by. I dont take them by surprise, if they are using their mirrors at all, they know I am there, and I always bring it back down to reality after the pass is made.

I have the Barons bag slash's, they sound good, nice tone. But they lean towards the louder end of the spectrum i would say. If anybody wants fishtails, I bought a set of V-Twin mfg. slip ons off of ebay. They sound great, really nice sound, but really loud. At about 70 they just have that nice throb sound, at 80 - 85 the sound is alot louder and kind of sharp as well, but i got them reasonable enough. With these you have to fab a mnt. bracket. They are a smooth pipe. I rode 270 miles yesterday with 4 HD's. I said I might take them off and go back to the Barons, all 4 said to leave em on. They love em, but they arent sitting in the seat.

Not much for the newer stuff, but the song "Are ya gonna be my girl" by JET is great. gonna download it for my Ipod. Could possibly see a speeding ticket in future if I listen to this one while riding.
