Shell's Rotella 15-40 Oil (Shell's Tech Expert answer)

Thats what I use........Good luck so far with it. -
Right now in South Dakota harvest is going on strong. Today a friend of mine working at a local grain elevator and had an accident. Somehow he got trapped inside a grain bin full of corn. I heard he fell inside. Luckily 2 other workers were with him and held on to his arms, keeping his head just above the grain. But the pressure of the grain against his body almost suffocated him anyway. The rescue workers got into the bin and got oxygen to him and after an hour finally got him out of the bin. I know he is bruised and beat from the grain against his body, but there is a father who is going to be able to go home to his wife and 2 young sons tonight or tomorrow depending on the hospital. If a man had 9 lives like a cat Chad used 8 of them today. It doesnt happen very often when a person becomes trapped in a grain bin that they come out alive. God was watching out for Chad and his family today.........

I live up here in Corn country, and there are several stations where you can select the amount of ethanol you want in your fuel. Besides unleaded, and 10%, there is 30% etc, all the way up to E85. These pumps are called blender pumps. I know a few guys who have experimented with different rates in their pickups for a long time. They say that of course the mileage drops off a bit for the 10%, but the 30% blend is where the dollar savings come in. The mileage is almost identical to 10%, but the price savings offsets the drop in mileage from regular unleaded. They said they havent had any mechanical issues either. These are later model pickups 07's or newer.

Hello from a potential new owner

Hope it all works out for you. That dealer is where I bought mine. I am happy with them. They are located about 50 miles north of Minneapolis. So its a bit of a jaunt for me to go over there. -
I am kinda toying with the idea of doing something next spring with my RSTD. I like my tour deluxe alot, but not so much I totally have to keep it. I want a full fairing etc. I do like the look of the HD. But I want liquid cooled and efi. So this bike definately gives me something to look at. I will be very interested if I do decide to do something. But if I do, I hope I will be accepted here, cause this is home after all you know......

13000 is high. If you are willing to travel, I see one in cambridge minn. Its an 08 with 1 mile for 11,000. As far as maintenance on the rstd just about everything you need to know is on this site.http://www.larsonscycle.com/new_vehicle_detail.asp?sid=2938479E-02X10K2K2010J9I07I22JPMQ195R0&veh=53980&pov=1754939 -
This afternoon the neighboring school (our rival) had an accident with one of their school busses. The bus was on a rural delivery route. The bus stopped at a hwy intersection, and then pulled out in front of a semi carrying cement pillars. The long and short of it is that the bus lost. the semi was messed up pretty good. The school bus had 5 litttle kids left on it. All 5 went to the hospital, 1 was air lifted, 1 by ambulance, and the others by private vehicle. According to the news tonight none of the injuries are life threatening. The bus itself was ripped loose from the frame. Both drivers were ok I believe. I believe that once the names are released, I will know all of the parents of these children. The man upstairs was watching over them all today. So if you can spare a minute those children in Conde SD, could use a little prayer from you all as well as for their parents. When something like this happens it really makes you think how trivial all our lifes problems are, and how fast your life can be snatched from you and changed forever.

Since I cant get my wife to ride with me. I have to pick and choose my spots to ride. We still have kids at home and that limits me as well. I did get to do 2-3 day vacations with friends on the bike. 1 to Algona Iowa, and the other to Sturgis. But when you are with your friends and they are all married couples and you are by yourself, it isnt as much fun as it should be. So I have been thinking. I have my grandfathers 57 chevy stepside pickup sitting out in the back, and if I fixed it up I think I could get her to go on some ice cream runs etc. and have some fun together. Because with 3 kids still around the house, there really isnt time for just us. I am gratefull that I have a wife who understands and lets me take off on my bike when I do get the time. And if she would read this, maybe it would be worth some brownie points for more riding........

I have almost 5000 on my 404 WWW tires. I really like em. I dont ride a venture, I ride a tour deluxe, and these are my first set after the stock Bridgestones. I plan on putting on another set after these, They are wearing nicely. I must admit I am kind of a fair weather rider, not much rain etc. But living in South Dakota, on occasion i do ride some subpar roads, potholes, chip seal etc. And I even have to ride gravel at times. And these tires do a good job for me as far as I can tell. I put together a trailer late this summer, and only pulled it 150 miles or so, and I felt real comfortable with em. Hope this helps ya some.

if you want to listen to some cool stuff check out live from daryls house on the internet. You can see what Daryl Hall has been up to. There must be 30 episodes on there or so. You can listen to them all for free! There is something on there for everybody.

I got in the house late tonight and was just checking out the watering hole. Sitting in the chair with the lights out listening to BTO Not Fragile, thinking to myself IT DONT GET BETTER THAN THIS. Then I thought, what if it did. What songs would be better than that. Any ideas for the next time im sitting in the dark........

When you are done talking your boss into it, would you please talk to mine for me?

You learn something new every day. Just like Johnny Carson "I did not know that".

Im not sure, but did you say the tires you have on now are 404's? I thought that the venture and tour deluxe came new with the bridgestones. If that is the case you arent running origional new tires. But who knows when they wouldve been changed. Some guys will change em out right away cause of the terrible handling. I ride a tour deluxe, and run the 404s now. They are a vast improvement over the origional bricks. Not saying that there arent alot better tire than the 404. I just wanted a WWW tire, and options are more limited.
-
I run the 404's, and like em. I have about 5000 miles on em so far, and so far so good. As far as cleaning them I read on here to try the origional goop hand cleaner. It works good, just wipe it on with a paper towel, dont even have to scrub real hard. Rinse it off with a hose. Just keep it on the sidewalls only. Not on any of the surface that contacts the road.

Thats why when passing a truck of any kind I am liable to get a hefty speeding ticket. I dont dilly dally. I hang back a ways until it is time to go around, then I pretty much wind the bike out till I get around. I dont want to be close to a truck at all. After I get by the truck I slow back down. I usually hang back for awhile, but I make sure I give the truck time to notice me before I do go. But once I go, I GO.........plus its kinda fun.

I talked to a Victory dealer today, he seemed willing to deal. Waiting to hear back from him. He wants to do some checking on things first. And the wing dealer seemed willing to work as well. Mind you both places havent seen my bike either. And I am not saying I have to get rid of my deluxe either, Id just like a full fairing. The wing I am not sure of. Not sure on the riding position/footpegs. And my wife doesnt ride like I thought she would. So that is a big bike for just a solo ride. But it would be nice. The victory would be a cross country, not the spaceship vision. I like that too. I dont think I would want a venture. Future resale on a wing would be better than a venture I think. I have yet to check out a kaw voyager. But I know a dealer there too

I know what you are saying about the book value. I just figured id check em out and see. I knew I would get low balled from them but I didnt quite expect em to be that bad. And hear in South Dakota right now is probly not the best time to trade anyway. No dealer wants to carry a trade in over the winter. Buying new right now cash outright might work with end of season deals. But our riding season up here is going to end in about another month or so

I was calling around to various dealers to see if there were any late season deals to be had. One of which was a local HD dealer. He said he would do some checking around because they have independent dealers come in and buy the traded metric bikes. Miy tour deluxe is an 08 blue/black with 9700 miles on it right now. I told him aftermarket pipes, radio, driving lights, and Bakup seat rest all go along with stock pipes. He said hed make some calls. Boy he must have speed dial, cause it was 5 minutes and he called back. after checking around (im guessing maybe one dealer, or maybe just picking a number out of the air) he said the Yamaha dealer would give him 4 grand, but hed throw in an xtra grand. I kept my temper and was civil. I told him he was way off and that it wasnt even close to book value. He told me the dealer told him that it was a dead horse. I told him that the dead horse was gonna sit in the garage and rot before id do business with him.....but i was polite.

Pics of 32" fishtails on RSTD
bj66 replied to Shipper's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I had these on my 08. These are 36" pipes from v-twin mfg. I put beehives on the taillight lenses to take up some of the gap in back. They stuck out a ways but it still looked pretty good. Talk about loud, I dont think they couldve got any louder than these. I just put together a trailer. I had to get rid of the pipes. It was either lose the pipes or lose the hearing. The sound coming off the trailer was unbearable.
