This winter is dragging on. Had a few good weeks of nice weather. But today, it decided to be winter again. 4-12 inches forecast, with winds gusting to 35. At 1:00 p.m. today the snow was already over bumper deep on the highway going past my farm. Visibility in the country right now is about 200 feet tops. So I guess it is official, I am ready for spring........I feel a little better now!

I'm at about 6' 0" and 260 pounds. I think my ideal weight for me is about 220 to 230. Looks like I got some work to do.

I'm not angry with your post or anything, and I didnt mean for it to come off that way. I just cant stand this crap. To be honest even a clip of Whitney Houston was on here. Also a recording of it was played at a high school game tonight that I attended. You couldnt sing it any better than Whitney did, but i'd have loved to hear her sing it word for word the way it is supposed to be. And to be honest, after her version it opened the flood gates. I think everybody thinks, I can be remembered just like her if i do it special......

I never ripped her for messing up the words. I was mad at the way OUR Anthem was treated. She couldve sang it prefectly word for word and I would've posted the exact same thing. I myself dont sing, even Kareoke at a bar. But I will sing the anthem at a game etc. When the Anthem is sung correctly, the proper way, by a person who can truely sing, there isnt a better version out there. The song is hard enough to sing all by itself. Leave it alone, and let the singers true talents shine.

I dont want to turn it political. But I believe there is only one way to sing it. I dont care if it is their way to express their artistic ability etc. I dont change the way I say the Lords Prayer, or The Pledge of Allegiance. Why would I change the performance of the National Anthem. I am disgusted. I know how I feel, and I can only imagine how our servicemen and women feel. I can only imagine how our veterans feel as well. I cant think of anything else that shows more disrespect to them on a daily basis. Heck you can go to a high school basketball game and kids do it as well. They think its perfectly ok.

I'm not leaving. That was kind of a tounge in cheek way of my saying that i bought a Harley. Anyway it makes for some kind of interesting reading. Heck I even poked fun at myself. Besides I know its all in fun. The great motorcycle debate will go on forever. Im just glad I can get out and ride. And i'm sure most of you feel the same.

VR Riders Maintenance Day......plus one Harley......Push it in, Ride it out......Surprised somebody didnt think of this one before I did. Why am I making fun of myself anyway? I guess I just am good natured.......

Man I cant believe how much after market stuff there is for a HD bike. You always see all the adds etc. But until you own one and actually start searching for stuff to fit your bike, it just blows you away. I almost have a headache, and I havent even scratched the surface. I am not talking just the HD brand, its unbelievable. With my Yammie it was kind of easy to find stuff, so few different options/companies. Not so with this bike. If you find something you think is cool, keep looking, there will probly be 20 companies making the same stuff. I thought the bike itself was gonna be spendy enough, and I knew HD stood for Hundred Dollar (every add on 100 dollars). But its just like being a kid and looking through a JC Penny x-mas catalog. And I thought I'd keep this bike pretty simple and clean. I hope I can still do that. But the few options I plan on adding, its gonna be tough. Too many choices, makes the simplest mod a difficult one!

Heck here in eastern SD we consider a 20 mph wind a breeze. But I hear ya, I've been in a couple of those "blustery days". Usually I dont ride in those, but when you are traveling you dont have that much of a choice. But the Black Hills doesnt usually get hammered like that. In the eastern part of the state, we need our corn to grow higher. Makes for a better wind break.

Any time is a good time to go to the Black Hills. I live in the eastern part of SD. Early part of July can be hot. Late summer crossing the state to get there, you can run into grasshoppers if its dry (not fun and a mess). But I have had friends that have went out in early fall and said it doesnt get any better than that. The fall colors are awesome. My advice to you, is just do whatever works best for you. When ever I go, I know the Hills are going to be 10 or 15 degrees cooler than where I am at in summer, and the same as far as warmer in the fall. So for me, there is no bad time.

We will have to get together again. We didnt get a Meet and Eat together last summer. The one 2 summers ago was fun. I'd ride down and do it again. Nothing like riding 250 miles one way to have lunch at a truck stop. Then fire it up and ride back home. Next time we will have to meet at the Texas Roadhouse behind the mall or something. I've ridden there before for lunch. I'd definately do that again.......

I imagine they would fit......BUT, I actually told the dealer that I want the stockers. The Barons pipes on my tour deluxe are great sounding, but a tad loud. The stockers should be right in between my stock yammies, and my Barons. Might be a welcome change for awhile...

Thanks Dan, You guys are always thinking of others. Between the custom Harley section, and the instructions on how to use it, I would be plain lost without you guys. Speaking of lost, its a good thing you guys are gonna wait for me to catch up!

I'll still wave, and I bet i'm the guy with the goofy assed grin too!

I suppose the Harley Section will have to have directions on where to go to find it, and instructions on how to use it........

Well today I finally did it. I have been thinking about getting a new bike. I ended up getting a Harley Road Glide. I know, I know, but I really like the fixed fairing and alot of other things on it. So in the long run it is the bike for me. I really like this site, and enjoy chatting with alot of you. I plan on coming back and keeping up with whats going on as well. Needless to say I probly will end up parting ways with my tour deluxe. Its been a good bike, and will make somebody a nice ride. Its really fun reading up on some of the ins and outs of these bikes, and the knowledge and ideas found on this site are incredible. So I plan on chiming on from time to time. As for new pics of the bike, gonna have to wait. It wont be here till the end of march. No biggy for me, Im not riding in a -50 windchill anyway.
-
We got lucky in the northeast part of SD. The major snow slid by to the south and east of us. Thanks everybody for sucking it up and taking it from us. But next time can you please take the -33 below temp with the -50 below windchill we had last night? I guess I cant expect everybody to take everything.......
-
Is winter about over yet? I am getting tired of this crap. We have had over 40 inches of snow so far, and odds are we are gonna get quite a bit more. Had 6 inches yesterday, and wind is gonna pick up later today. To top it off temperature is supposed to dip to a balmy -33 below tonight, with windchills reaching -50 (insert expletive here)! I really like winter, but enough is enough......

hehehe, ya got me.....i was referring to the 2nd "like" as being able to move around a bit. So now I guess its a like/love thing. Not a like/love/like thing..........

I like that one......
