As some of you know, I bought a new HD Road Glide in feb. Its ship date from the factory is April 29th. I have checked in on it a few times. Today I get a call from the dealer telling me to come get it. Boy was that a surprise, I just talked to the parts guy yesterday about an add on that I wanted. He didnt say that my bike was there. I suppose he thought I already knew it. So hopefully on saturday I can make the trip to get it. Party sunny with low 50's for temps and north winds at 10 to 15 sounds ok to me. Hopefully I can get things all lined up to get it then. Next week is more rain, like today and tomorrow. So I guess I should get a little more aggressive on getting rid of my Tour Deluxe. Maybe deep down I still kinda like the thing......

I havent even checked that, dont care. I've been looking at the shark nose's for 3 years. I bought my RSTD knowing full well I probly wouldnt keep it. When I got back into riding after a ten year layoff, I bought my RSTD. I'm glad I did, no regrets at all with it. Actually like the bike, but not so much much that I love it and have to keep it. I've never ridden the Road Glide, but I never rode the RSTD before I bought it either. (I have ridden a street glide) I just know that a bike is a piece of machinery that you end up tweeking to your tastes. I dont expect this will be any different for me. So after all these years this bike is what i want. For me I wanted a fixed fairing like the wing, but with feet forward like my RSTD. After owning my RSTD and finding accessories or options (aftermarket) was hard to find. So I dont want to go through all this again with a Kaw Voyager. THe Victories are nice bikes, but my local dealer was more intent on selling snowmobiles than assembling the cross country (not fixed fairing) in the crate when i was researching/shopping. So that leaves me with the HD. I've always loved the RG, so that is my choice. The insurance is secondary to me. This is a bit long winded but that is my reasons why I did what I did. But I'm not leaving this site. Cant get rid of me that easy

I will be getting my new road glide custom in a few weeks. My wife doesnt ride so i opted for the the Road Glide Custom instead of the Ultra. One of the most common upgrades for the Road Glide is the handle bars. Most guys put on the HD "Heritage Bars". Actually one of the cheaper parts you can get from HD, at about 70 to 80 bucks. They work good I guess, they are a tad taller and give about 2 inches more pullback. Almost all say it is the best change they make, no more neck and shoulder pain. My new bike will have them on it when I get it. Maybe this info will help ya out if you ever decide to take the plunge. I know when I did, I was pretty nervous. Thats alot of coin. But since i've been waiting to get the bike, I've gotten rather excited! I did like reading your comparison. Cant wait to compare my new bike with my rstd. One other thing. With the different bars, there is no need to get different cables either. So it is a pretty cost effective change.

something besides the Vision "space ship" that is. And I would expect it to come from the Victory side of things. Id expect the Indians to pretty much stay the way they are. They dont dare stray to far from the heritage.

Yah I hear ya on that, I was meaning that if they tried to bring the price down to at or below HD. They have room to bring em down some. But if you start dropping them down to the low 20's or lower, dont know if it will work. Its gonna be a fine line for them thats for sure. People will start thinking, if they drop the price that far, it would be like putting Geo parts in a Caddy and calling it a Caddy. Plus a high end Screaming Eagle CVO HD Ultra must be in the 30's. I think that is the niche they will go after. It will be like the old saying "If ya have to ask how much, ya cant afford it" type thing. But I think the other thing they may do is add a model or 2 to bridge the gap between the premier high end bikes and the Cross Country. IF they do that, they'll have something.

I havent read any info on it yet, but I'll bet Victory uses this as their bridge to the old school v-twin guy. The vics have arlen ness written all over them. Now they have the old school tie in. As far as price goes, that will be the line that goes way back with tradition, and tradition comes with a price. I think they will still be right up there if not more than a HD. Thats who they are aiming for anyway. If they cheapen the bikes price significantly, people will say they are taking shortcuts.

I put Barons Bag slash's on my 08 tour deluxe. I like them, I pulled the baffles and wrapped them. It helped take some of the sharpness out of them. I like them like that. They sound good without the packing, but are a tad on the loud side for me that way. -
My new word for the day is Damerall. Used in a sentence..."Damerall anyway, I just heard tomorrows forecast." Another 4 to 6 inches of that white crap.

I also frequent the Roadglide.Org site. I just bought one, and it is a good site as well. Lots of info, and not near as large. The threads I have been following have been good. with alot of friendly ribbing etc.

You forgot to add.....free info on the best ice cream in the continental U.S.! Then again maybe this falls under the etc, etc, etc, etc, part.

After 8 inches of white crap last friday, it has been snowing all day. The newspaper said that Aberdeen South Dakota has officially hit the 3rd largest amount of snowfall in history. Somewhere in the 80 inch area. Normal for us is in the 30 inch range. Needless to say Sometime here in the next week, my wife and kids will have to go stay at my folks's place. That way they can get to work/school without driving flooded highways. The kids go to school 10 miles away and the roads are gonna get alot worse before they get better. Cmon summer, cant get here quick enough!!!!!!!!

Yep, crazy. Never seen anything quite like that one....

They said it was coming, but the lightning, thunder and hail was a bonus. We got about 4 inches of snow. They predicted 5 to 9 inches. So that was good. North and east of me they got a foot. Didnt need that........(didnt need the 4 either)

A first for me Yesterday. We had some crappy weather yesterday. It was the first time I have ever experienced rain, thunder, lightning, hail, and snow, all in the same day. Not to mention having blizzard warnings and flood warnings at the same time. South Dakota, dont like the weather, just wait a bit, it'll change..........Cmon spring, you can do it.........

I'm planning on coming out. Will stay at Iron Horse again. I think I still have your number in my phone. We'll try again this year. Maybe this year we can get together somewhere. We went out to the Broken Spoke a few times. Was pretty cool out there.

Talked to lady today who works at local station. She said they got the call to raise gas 10 cents this morning. Then this afternoon they got another call to raise another 10 cents. Imagine that............

I did about 20 feet of driveway the width of a double garage door. It wasnt too bad, light and fluffy. Once the county highway dept gets out and cleans the highway. I'll bring in the big tractor and 8 foot blower.

morning news says 16 1/2 inches. Time to get out the shovel.........

Just watching the news. So far 10 1/2 inches. New projection up to 18 before morning.....This sucks.
