  1. I saw this on another site, and it looked like fun. Since we are all riding now, and seeing all the sites. When you come across a tank, stop and get a pic of your bike with one. I was going through Redfield SD yesterday and I came across this one....
  2. I agree with ya about the releases. I live up in northeast SD, and we see it all the time. The big problem is not only the record snowmelt, but ND and Montana had some serious rainfall this spring. You can go on you tube and search Oahe Dam, Pierre SD flooding, Gavins Point Dam, all have some serious water vids as well. They say all the water in Pierre etc, will be a summer long deal. It isnt going to end anytime soon either.
  3. I also saw a guy riding an ultra classic a few years ago. We were going down the interstate doing close to 80 mph. I saw him coming up behind me at a pretty good clip. When he got close I noticed he was leaning back into his backrest with his feet on the pegs and his arms crossed. He came up on me, leaned a little bit to get the bike to move to the passing lane, and went by me without even moving. I just laughed and told my wife to look at this coming up on us. My wife wont ride with me anyway and needless to say was less than impressed. When he got by me and was in the clear, he leaned a little bit and moved on over into my lane again. He had to be going 85 mph. He didnt appear to be the sort of guy you wanted to run down and have a chat with about it either. Although dangerous, it was kind of cool looking. I guess its one of them things you dont see every day!
  4. I saw a guy riding a scooter yesterday with a pair of crutches resting on the platform going up between his arms and leaning against his right shoulder. And he was old enough to know better.
  5. Just so long as you dont get the one with arm bent at the elbow with back of hand facing you, middle finger extended upward!
  6. Most all of the guys I ride with wave, and 95% of them ride the HD's. I agree with flb, in SD especially close to Sturgis time, there are so many bikes its hard to wave at all of em. But I still try to. So if you meet a sedona orange road glide coming at you, and he waves, it might be me.......
  7. Just remember to take the pad off the seat when you arent riding it. Leave that sucker in the sun at it gets real warm real fast! I really like mine!
  8. I know, I just couldnt help myself.........
  9. Yeah but, if you cover your bike with plastic. How are you gonna get it clean?........
  10. Can I still call it a "Ditch Pickle"? Since its based on a snowmobile chassis. Thats what we call the snowmobiles that ride the ditches in the winter up here. Perhaps I can call em a "Asphalt Pickle". Somehow that doesnt have quite the same ring to it........
  11. i'd just go with the retro look, black and white t.v. with rabbit ears for reception.....T.V trays for the food! Throw in a brown polyester couch with wooden peg style legs.
  12. Mystere at Treasure Island. Not for sure, but I think its the only Cirque du Soleil show that you cant get on dvd. Because Treasure Island is part owner of it. And if you go, get there early. You dont want to be late.......
  13. Did ya leave em totally stock, or did ya gut the baffles?
  14. Those of you looking at HD pipes, looking for slash down style. The 2011 Road Glide Customs are slash down. No I am not looking at getting rid of mine. But I thought I might throw that out there if people like that style. I like them better than any others. Most that I see are either straight cut, or slash ups. There is a pic in my profile pictures that show the pipe enough so you can see what they look like.
  15. Took the bike out for about another 70 miles today, and actually could ride it quite a bit harder. The handling is better than the rstd, no doubt. I got on a open stretch and opened the bike up. Actually touched 100 mph. It didnt bother me at all to do it. I wouldve been uncomfortable doing that on my rstd. Maybe it is the fairing in front of me, I dont know. But I am much more confident in the handling at 200 miles than the 10000 on my rstd. The big downer on the Road Glide is the windshield. I replaced the 5 inch or whatever size they call it with an 10 inch (i think, cant remember) HD shield. It isnt near enough. I got alot of buffeting. But I can fix that. I believe the company that makes the best shield for them is called windvest. The other thing that I dont like is the location of the boards. They need to be out away from the bike a bit more. My feet feel comfortable about half way off the outside edge. But that can be fixed too. Well that is about it for now. Some asked for comparisons on bikes, i'll keep giving them as I find them.
  16. My friend and I took a truck to get the bike, because of all the water/flooding in the area. The dealer was about 100 miles away. We got the bike about 1/2 way home before i couldnt take it anymore. We stopped and unloaded it so I could ride it the rest of the way. I went into a store and found a pair of light gloves and a stocking hat. I only had a light jacket, but thought it was gonna have to do. So long story short, the 1st ride was a COOL ride, in more ways than one....
  17. I need to ride it some more to be real accurate. With the break in ride, at 50 mph etc. performance wise its hard to tell. I do know that the HD is alot easier to lean than the rstd, requires less effort. The stock seat is more comfy. I changed the stock HD bars to HD heritage bars, and that is a big improvement over stock. But apples to apples on that isnt fair cause i changed em right away. So far the Glide is better at every point ive paid attention to, but its only been 70 miles, so that isnt fair either.
  18. The official title of the bike is a 2011 Road Glide FLTRX custom. It has the 103 power pak motor with ABS, security, and oil cooler. The color is called Sedona Orange.
  19. Not a Yamaha, but it made it home. Rode it for about 75 miles today. I really like the way the bike handles. I got a keeper in this bike!
  20. Talked to the dealer this morning. Have an appointment to pick it up. Besides the usual paperwork etc. I have to go through the shop etc to meet the people and everything. The only down side to the whole deal is that with all the rain and moisture/flooding we've had, I cant ride the bike into the yard. So I'm gonna have to haul it.....But at least its home.
  21. Hey, you shouldve told us to stay dry about 3 weeks ago. Water is a real problem right now. I gotta run up to Jamestown ND to Stutsman HD to get the bike.

    Road Glide

Called my insurance guy today, he said the new bike would be about 100 more per year, im paying about 360 now, so 450 to 500 would be ball park
  23. As some of you know, I bought a new HD Road Glide in feb. Its ship date from the factory is April 29th. I have checked in on it a few times. Today I get a call from the dealer telling me to come get it. Boy was that a surprise, I just talked to the parts guy yesterday about an add on that I wanted. He didnt say that my bike was there. I suppose he thought I already knew it. So hopefully on saturday I can make the trip to get it. Party sunny with low 50's for temps and north winds at 10 to 15 sounds ok to me. Hopefully I can get things all lined up to get it then. Next week is more rain, like today and tomorrow. So I guess I should get a little more aggressive on getting rid of my Tour Deluxe. Maybe deep down I still kinda like the thing......

    Road Glide

I havent even checked that, dont care. I've been looking at the shark nose's for 3 years. I bought my RSTD knowing full well I probly wouldnt keep it. When I got back into riding after a ten year layoff, I bought my RSTD. I'm glad I did, no regrets at all with it. Actually like the bike, but not so much much that I love it and have to keep it. I've never ridden the Road Glide, but I never rode the RSTD before I bought it either. (I have ridden a street glide) I just know that a bike is a piece of machinery that you end up tweeking to your tastes. I dont expect this will be any different for me. So after all these years this bike is what i want. For me I wanted a fixed fairing like the wing, but with feet forward like my RSTD. After owning my RSTD and finding accessories or options (aftermarket) was hard to find. So I dont want to go through all this again with a Kaw Voyager. THe Victories are nice bikes, but my local dealer was more intent on selling snowmobiles than assembling the cross country (not fixed fairing) in the crate when i was researching/shopping. So that leaves me with the HD. I've always loved the RG, so that is my choice. The insurance is secondary to me. This is a bit long winded but that is my reasons why I did what I did. But I'm not leaving this site. Cant get rid of me that easy

    Road Glide

I will be getting my new road glide custom in a few weeks. My wife doesnt ride so i opted for the the Road Glide Custom instead of the Ultra. One of the most common upgrades for the Road Glide is the handle bars. Most guys put on the HD "Heritage Bars". Actually one of the cheaper parts you can get from HD, at about 70 to 80 bucks. They work good I guess, they are a tad taller and give about 2 inches more pullback. Almost all say it is the best change they make, no more neck and shoulder pain. My new bike will have them on it when I get it. Maybe this info will help ya out if you ever decide to take the plunge. I know when I did, I was pretty nervous. Thats alot of coin. But since i've been waiting to get the bike, I've gotten rather excited! I did like reading your comparison. Cant wait to compare my new bike with my rstd. One other thing. With the different bars, there is no need to get different cables either. So it is a pretty cost effective change.
