The other day my son came home and when he parked the car he heard a tire going down. The next day I took off the tire and while rolling it to the pickup I could hear something inside the tire. The tire was cut and ruined, and while changing the tire we pulled out a yamaha combination #8 and #10 wrench. So if you were riding by my place spying on me, you can stop and get your wrench back!!!! I've seen lots of different stuff in tires, but never a wrench.

Maybe the reason politics isnt discussed as much, is that there arent as many straight ticket voters anymore. Each party seems to have representatives that arent worth a pinch of whatever. Seems like nowadays you vote for whoever is gonna hurt you the least, not whos gonna help you the most. So less straight line votes. I'm just stating a possible reason, and not trying to fan the flames by saying that. And remember from my previous post, I'm a norwegian who likes jokebooks, and no arguing!!!
-
Dont ya like how I slipped that little nowegian joke aimed at myself. I was chuckling as I typed it.
-
Don well written, I totally agree. Now my 2 cents. Life is just plain to short to argue period. Religion, polotics, race, I just dont get it. There is nothing wrong with sticking up for what you believe in, but lets face it, some people just plain like to argue for the sake of argueing. Some people are not blessed (for lack of a better word) with a sense of humor. And I dont mean laugh out loud all the time, but cant always recognize things for what they are. For those people I feel sorry. Those people are just bitter I grew up in South Dakota, pretty much all German/ Norwegian heritage. Maybe being a farmer I have somewhat of a different outlook. I am an eternal optomist, things are always going to be better tomorrow. When I go into a filling station and see an UFF DA/Ole and Lena jokebook I pretty much am gonna buy it. Beings I have norwegian blood in me, I could be offended. But of course I'm not. But then again being norwegian, maybe i'm not smart enough to figure that out. But in the long run I guess I do have it figured out, because I can make fun of myself in front of a whole bunch of people and it doesnt bother me a bit. Maybe some people could learn from reading that. Remember,to argue, whatever the topic, a person has to have a narrow mind. An argument is basically trying to force your opinion on another narrow minded person. I'm glad my mind isnt that narrow. My folks taught me years ago to treat people as I would like to be treated myself. That includes talking down at somebody. Which I try not to do. I guess some people should've had my folks as parents. It all boils down to respect.

Somehow when I see this, all I can think of is SPATULA (spelling ?). Because they are gonna need one to pick him up off the highway.

I probly shouldve taken more pics, but I didnt take a camera, and I tried to ingore my cell phone....sorry !!!
-
Sorry, no moped guy........I didnt take many, but I did get a few with my camera phone. 1st pic is my buddies pickup hauling a friends goldwing. He's a diehard HD guy, so I had to get evidence. 2nd and 3rd are of Devils tower of course. 4th is 1880's train between Keystone and Hill City 5th is a bonus. My inlaws elk farm, watching the elk bedded down. I have a vid clip of the 1880s train, I'm gonna try and add that, possibly in the videos section.

There was a guy at the Iron Horse Campground that was from California. He rode one of those 49 cc scooters all the way out to Sturgis. He said he left 5 weeks earlier, and I believe it. It wasnt a new one either. Matter of fact, it was kind of a piece of crap. But he was a loner and a goofy sh*^. Come to think of it, he'd have to be a loner. Who would want to ride a scooter all that way. I thought of Dumb and Dumber right away only riding solo.

14 years of playing baseball as a catcher took its toll on my knees. Its hard for me to jog, but I did play league softball till a few years ago. I quit at 43, I played till I had to change the way I played because I couldnt do it like I knew I should be able to anymore. That being said, I gain 20 pounds every winter and lose 10 every summer. So besides being about 30 overweight playing softball, I've gained another 20. So I see a stationary bike or an eliptical machine in my not so different future.

Maybe next year we should try meeting somewhere else. Texting during a Ted Nugent Concert is kinda tough.....Oh and by the way, I wish Uncle Ted would tell us how he really feels.........lol

Hey Brian Was that accident on the nemo road on weds. just above Johnson Siding. That sure looks like the one we waited for. Except we were on the other side of it. If thats the case we were told the guy was alive, but busted up pretty good. They said when the bike stuck in the guard rail, it launched him over the edge. He was about 20 feet down I think. Heck we just couldnt meet up. Going opposite directions on the nemo road. Plus we passed within 15 feet at the Full Throttle without knowing it......Maybe next year.

I went into a dealer last year and got the same treatment. That dealer didnt get my business. I still have my rstd, and my son has started riding it, but when I told them what I had as a possible trade, my new dealer politely told me what they would do as far as trading it. I knew that it was coming. He was good about it though, it wasnt to many years ago that their dealership handled Yammies as well. As far as the 1st dealer that was rude to me, I put the salesman right in his place. I told him to put his road glide up next to my tour deluxe on a ride and we would see which performs better. I told him we both knew what the answer was. And as far as the mystique.....I didnt give a sh*^. After we got through that b.s. he was tripping over himself. But by then it was too late. When I went out to Sturgis my bike was stock other than the 79 dollar bars. I had the headpipe mods done while out there after idling down LaZelle street a few times. My stock road glide to my stock tour deluxe was no comparison in handling. My road glide has the 103 with abs and oil cooler as well. They both have good power, but its different power. With the glide it lugs real well, and the deluxe you keep up your rpms. When i went looking for a new bike, I wanted feet forward with a fixed fairing. The foot position with the wing wouldnt do. So there was one obvious choice, and I'm glad I made it. The Road Glide is the best kept secret HD has. And judging by how many I saw at Sturgis, the secret is out.

I went from an 08 RSTD to an 11 Road Glide Custom. As of right now, I will never go back, the glide rides way better. Not sure of actuall specs, but the seat sits alot lower, and I feel much more stable. After riding the glide, the deluxe feels like im balancing on top of a fence. Plus the frame mounted fairing makes handling much better. Now the drawbacks. With my glide, the fairing is farther forward, so more wind. I replaced standard windshield when I bought it. I listened to the dealer and installed their 12 inch shield. It wasnt enough, so now I have my 3rd shield, which works really well. I replaced my headpipe, due to the catalytic converters location. Getting rid of that saves about 300 degrees of heat on your right leg. If you are doing this, you might as well add a fuel management system, air breather, and slip ons. It will give you about 12 to 14 more hp. But it all costs money. Keep in mind the cat location is for 09's and up I believe, and buying used this may already be done for you. My road glide custom is a lowered bike. So not as much shock in the back. You just have to pay more attention to your air pressure, no big deal. The 2011 stock seat is very nice, a big improvemnet over the 10's. The only other add on i did, was put HD Heritage bars on it. Believe it or not, they were only 79 bucks. I just went out to Sturgis last week, and road a few days while out there. I ended up putting 1335 miles on the stock seat. I was 10 times more comfy than on the rstd which I took last year. Yes its alot more money, but money well spent. I believe the big maintenance issue is all the tinkering guys do. There are so many different cams etc, its easy to get carried away. Pretty soon you are riding a time bomb. I think sticker on my 11 road glide custom was around 19000, plus about 2000 more for the 103 motor which is now stock in 2012. I think the road glide ultra was about 22000. If I was to buy again, I think i'd go slightly used, 09 or newer (newer frame). Somebody else can put the goodies on for you. You can save alot that way.....Hope this helps

Just got back from a vacation with the family. We went over to Minneapolis for a getaway. While there, we took the car over towards Lake City MN. Lake City is on the Mississippi river which makes up the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin. If you ever get a chance to take a bike trip along the river, DO IT.....It is really beautiful country. Red Wing, Lake City, Zumbro Falls, Wabasha. I'm sure the wisconsin side is just as nice. nothing like seeing sailboats etc. on Lake Pepin (mississippi) at Lake City. All in all, a beautiful day, even in the car. I know there is a posting on this kind of a ride in the roads and destinations, but I couldnt help throwing out a reminder.

looks like fun!

I live up here in SD, right in the middle of farm country. Crop dusting happens alot around here of course. Those guys have big ones, no other way to say it. I can think of 3 of them that are no longer with us, or seriously injured. It must be an adrenaline rush for sure. No matter how safe they try to be, all it takes is one time. There was an outfit that flew from a neighbors farm about 3 miles from my house. Every year there was at least one new pilot, if that tells you anything. Over the years, I think that they lost 4 planes, not always losing the pilot of course. But the pilots leased on with their own planes most of the time. It is kind of a nomadic life for some of them. Going from place to place, until they find a good place to fly from. If they get lucky, they will get old and retire.

The tank must be hopped up, last time I saw it there was no fence. It must take alot of power to get through that fence. Oh and flb, that "orange tank" remark was awesome, I gotta remember that one. Not only that, the tank is taking dead aim at the tree!
