  1. Sorry it is 1:00 a.m cdt. I just got home and I hope I wasnt to late, but I guess I was........
  2. I just checked with my dealer this morning. I am one of the lucky ones.....I get to get a new switch. Gotta check in with them on monday morning and set up a time. I guess it takes about a half hour plus another half hour for the free wash job! So there is a bonus I guess, other than the hour drive for me to get it to them. But at least I get it fixed rather than having a problem. And yes I heard about the recall here first.......Several HD forums are talking about it, sounds like most bikes affected are the ABS bikes.
  3. Isnt it funny how right before you hit one, everything slows down in your mind. Years ago I was coming through a bridge. Just as I was entering the bridge at roughly 80 mph (oops) a big buck came out right on the other end. In a split second I had time to think, stay on the gas and dont swerve (in the bridge by now), stop after the hit to maintain control, and the last thing I did was count. 1,2,3,4,5 Holy Crap He Is A Nice Buck. So after the hood on my truck came up over the cab, I got it stopped. I went back to where the buck layed in the ditch. at -20 below in the dark, all I noticed was no more rack.......I suppose 80 mph will do that. But it is amazing all the things you can think of in a situation like that. But you always have to count.....hehehe
  4. Had 10 or 11 people on at one time. Somebody would leave, and somebody else would show up. A few of us are still on, and its been a good time!
  5. Thought I'd see if we can get anybody on tonight. Somebody call Peg and tell her! I'm gonna log on for awhile and see if anybody shows up!
  6. I still look almost every night I get on the computer. Usually nobody is on, but I still check to see anyway! Every now and again somebody is there. I logged on for a bit tonight to see if anybody would come on in, but no luck.......
  7. Happy Birthday. You dont look a day older than --. Well come to think of it, since we've never met in person, I'll let you fill that part in!
  8. my 2 cents....I have a RSTD not a venture. So minus trunk and full fairing I would assume it should be somewhat more nimble. I rode a buddys wing last year for a short ride. I loved the fixed fairing, but didnt like the leg room, or the plastic rubbing the inside of your calves while using the highway pegs. So when my purchase came around this spring I went with the HD Road Glide Custom (I know, I know....HD). Everybody always compares the venture/wing/ and the Ultra Classic (batwing). The Road Glide (fixed fairing) compares much better to the wing as far as handling, and blows my RSTD away in that category. Plus no cramped feeling from the fairing. The Road Glide fairing is farther ahead. The feet forward positon on the Road Glide is much better than the wing, I am not a small guy by any means (6' 1" and 265 pounds) and the road glide was hands down the best fit from me. I know this isnt quite what the origional post was about, and that it is an old thread. But if you get the chance to ride a Road glide try it, you might be surprised. I thought about trying a Venture instead. But I already own a bike that is a discontinued model, and I think everything is going Stratoliner. So I have no desire to own another discontinued model.

I have an 08 RSTD and a 11 Road Glide Custom. I like both bikes, but for me (6'1 and 265 pounds) the most comfortable bike by far is hands down the Road Glide. Lots of room to the fixed fairing, dont feel cramped at all. Plus the fixed fairing makes handling effortless. There has been lots of topics on venture vs. wing, if people would test ride the glide vs the wing they would be surprised. The glide is the perfect feet forward fixed fairing bike. Ride position is much better than the wing. Matter of fact, I've put 17 miles on my rstd this year. And I like my rstd, but I like my glide that much more.
  10. yes you can make an adaptor bracket for any HD slip on. The rear mount isnt in the same spot is all. I just thought it might be nice to be able to keep the stock Yamaha pipe look with different baffles. My RSTD stock pipes have a nice look to them with the tips. The more choices the merrier. Plus this guy that makes exhausts also makes high performance exhausts as well. Actually right now my bike has an aftermarket exhaust on it already, but more options would be nice. Plus I may sell my RSTD, I just havent decided yet. Beings I still hang around on this site, I thought i'd try and come up with something to help the good people on this site. If there is no interest, no big deal.
  11. probobly have some cutting. But it would be worth looking at. We have such little choices as it is. Maybe he'd have to do a whole pipe. If that works, might even be able to do a 1st gen pipe as well. Worth a shot anyway.
  12. I ran across a guy while looking for exhaust help on my Roadglide. I had a unique setup and had a baffle question. Anyway this guy helped me out in a big way. While talking I mentioned that I had a Rstd and that the Yammie guys are always looking for slip ons of one sort or another. I asked him if he could design a baffle set that would fit the stock mufflers. He said he thought he could, and of course he wondered how much interest there would be. I figured that there may be quite a bit. So I thought I'd throw this out there to see if there is any interest. Rather than give his name out or have a business come on here and solicit, I figured this would be the best way to find out. Might be a help to the Yammie in the aftermarket business.....
  13. There are a few guys over on the Roadglide forum that run them on their road glides. They like them. Most say they like the lower windshield on the road glide fairing for the looks. Then when they get out on the long trips they flip the shield for more height on long runs for more protection. Best of both worlds. I myself put a taller shield on, and really like it. But it did change the look of my bike alot. To each their own I guess. But the guys that put them on really like em.
  14. I figured out the flag thing right away. It never even dawned on me to click on the earth to get a map. What a great question to ask, it helped out a bunch of us.
  15. Due to flooding etc the last few years. The wife and I are gonna start over next year and build a new house and garage where it is high and dry. No basement in the house, so that means a rather large garage for the vehicles, plus storage. I'm planning on having a breezeway going into the garage with a rec room/summer room as well. So its gonna be a big one if everything goes as planned. Gonna start with a 50 x 60 pole building and go from there!!! So by all means, lets see some pics and ideas. I might have to change mine!
  16. Glad I jumped ship last year. 2 years ago, I was mad that they didnt change anything. After talking to a regional head at the Yamaha tent at Sturgis a few years ago, I knew they werent gonna change anything. I was pissed that they didnt have a venture or a Rstd there at all. That alone said volumes. I'm not surprised they didnt change it again. Its a good thing for me that there are some good people on this site or I'd be long gone.
  17. I also have a 760 gamemaster pump. It was my dads, and all of us boys grew up shooting it. It is a 30-06 outfitted with a weaver 4 power scope. My son shot it last year, but we finally relegated it to back up this year. I won a Tikka T3 in a fire dept. fundraiser raffle. I got that in a .270 short mag. Good thing deer season is usaually pretty cold. Get to wear a heavy coat which is a good thing because that Tikka will whop you when you pull the trigger. But it is pretty cool that one gun can go through 5 family members and more than one occaison a neighbor used it as well. That says a lot for how things used to be made....
  18. Sleeper game of the week........Tampa Bay and Detroit. I think both of those teams will be in the thick of things for the playoffs. I cant believe I just typed this, Detroit 3 years ago was a joke. Not Anymore. No I am not a fan of either, unfortunately I am a Broncos fan. As far as football players pay etc. goes, I'd rather see that, than Pro Basketball. At least football is a team orientated sport. Basketball is supposed to be, but pro basketball? Not So Much.......Football at least markets the team, Basketball markets the Individual.
  19. Dan, dont you think that since it is a cop bike. You should stop at donut shops instead of Dairy Queens! Hey the HD thing is ok, I like mine. Having one as a member on this site just improves your sense of humor and sarcasm.......
  20. You are coming to the Black Hills at the perfect time of year. I live in the northeast part of the state and all of the locals like to go out there right after Labor Day. The trees are starting to show there fall colors etc. And best of all most of the tourist traffic is gone with school starting. Have a great time, it shouldnt be too hard to do!!!!!
  21. Road Glide Ultra.I was talking to my brother in Denver the other day. He was thinking Electra Glide Classic. He test drove one along with a Road Glide like I own. He said no comparison, much better. Has a fixed fairing just like a wing. Matter of fact, I think he closed the deal today. Either way, you get to try something different for a day, wish I had that kind of luck!
  22. I ride gravel all the time. I am forced to. The more a guy does it the easier it becomes.
  23. Just got done with supper. While I was eating BLT's, I thought it doesnt get any better than this in the summer. The only thing I was missing was sweetcorn. So I guess my favorite summer meal would be BLT's and sweetcorn. So whats everybody elses favorite meal in the summer?
  24. My dad who is now 80 years old pulled a classic on a telemarketer a few years ago. He told one "Can you hurry up, I'm kind of busy. The neighbor lady is over here and my wife is due home in ten minutes!" The guy apologized and hung up.......

    Droid

My Droid had a problem after a year and half. The touchscreen wasnt working right. I went in to the Verizon store. After about 30 minutes of the salesperson messing with it, she said yup, its junk. I had to save my battery and cover. They sent me a new one in less than a week. Piece of cake........
