My son started riding last year at 17 years old. He was 5'7 and maybe 140 pounds at the most. We got him a vstar 650 classic. He really likes it. It has a winshield already and the exhaust has Vance and Hines short shots on it. He likes it alot this way. I just got him crash bars for a birthday present, so he can add highway pegs to stretch out a little. He is starting to grow now, and I am betting that this may be his last year on it. We actually talked about making it into one really cool bobber when he is to big to ride it long distances. He started out really cautious, and we had him take the safety course. And to start with he said it is the perfect bike.

Right now at 10:30 a.m. the temp is -12 with a 17 mph wind. Making the wind chill temp of -36. Weather reports showing windchills of -45 to -50 tonight. Good news is by tomorrow afternoon highs of close to 20 above. Pretty much every school around is closed for the day. My 10 year old daughter and I decided to make this afternoon a Gilligans Island marathon. Going to be a good day!

Just watched the weather on t.v., how depressing. Right now it is -12 out with a windchill of -28. Tomorrow's high is -5 and tomorrow night it will be -25 with windchills hitting -45. This crap sucks. Its supposed to be in the teens this weekend though. Will probly feel like going to the beach or getting the bike out for a ride with those balmy temps........

Neighbor just bought a 2012 holdover (I think, might be a 13). He did not buy the ecoboost. He does have an older 3/4 ton diesel if he needs to pull heavy. He said it wasnt worth the cash difference to him basically for about 1 more mpg. He is a die hard Ford guy. He's had the truck about 2 months. I asked him the other day if he regrets his decision and he said not a bit. Basically all road miles for him though, not much pulling.

Yes, the Road Glide is the fixed fairing with 2 headlights. Kaw's new Voyager Vaquero? is meant to take on that same niche. Fixed fairing. I was at Sturgis last summer, and 2 of the guys camping with us did test rides of the Road Glide Ultra. They ride Ultra Classics. They both swore at me with a grin and said I had been holding out on them. They loved the feeling of that fixed fairing. Definately their next bikes will be Road Glides. But then again you 1st genners know that feeling already.

I wasnt trying to go the old HD/Yamaha bike comparison. I was simply stating one companies willingness to suspend production on a well liked, good selling bike. And the other companies willingness to keep a product the same for many, many years. Night and Day between the two philosophies...

I was reading in another forum (HD) and it got me to thinking. Alot of you know that I ride a Road Glide, and came off a RSTD. One of the main reasons for the switch was that Yamaha quit the RSTD and refuses to change the Venture. Every year we all wonder, will this be the year something gets changed? So getting back to the other (HD) forum. Rumor there is that HD is going to stop Production on the Road Glide for at least the '14 year, and possibly the '15's as well. Sales of the Road Glides are really good right now, and you cant hardly find one at a dealer. Some say it is because they need to retool the fairing. Others say it is in high demand, and stopping production for a year will make it even more desirable. It is not uncommon for HD to stop production on models for a year, I believe they did it with one of their CVO's last year or year before. Then reintroduce them a year later. I guess HD has more models and more sales so they can do this. Yamaha doesnt have as many options in the touring area and cant. Company philosophys are like night and day. So I guess we will wait and see if HD is just using this as a sales pitch or really going to do it. I guess with the Yamaha, if they kill it off, its DEAD. With HD you never know...... I guess I should have added. With HD there is always publicity, good or bad. Something for you to watch or follow. With Yamaha, its all quiet........nothing. Then for a day or so you hear same as year before. Not much publicity etc. totally different companys run totally different. Not saying one is better than the other, thats not the point. Everyone that owns a Venture knows its a good bike. To bad most of America doesnt know it too.

I was rooting for Seattle, and feel bad for them except for Pete Carrol. Take some points when you can, bad play calling. As far as icing the kicker, what little lip reading I could do. It appears that Carrol called a timeout, then ran around like nobody called one. Once Atlanta missed the kick and timeout was called, you knew their kicker wouldnt miss again. Tough loss Seattle,good comeback just a little short. Running out of teams to root for now. Gonna have to root for 49ers now.

Coming from a Broncos fan.....you play like that, you dont deserve to win. Your special teams score twice for you and you still lose. How many times do you have to get beat deep. 35 seconds to go, the only way you dont win is by getting beat deep, unbelievable. Ravens deserved to win that one. I'd have almost felt guilty if Denver came out of that with a win.

Seattle is much better now than they were earlier in the year, and getting better every week. Although the weather would be alot bigger factor. It would be fun to see. I dont think GB will get by the 49ers, but I do think Seattle will get by Atlanta. I know Atlanta is tough at home, but I think Seattle is as complete of a team as any of the NFC teams left.

I go to the one in March. I think it is called the Donnie Smith. It is held at the Excel Energy Center. It is same weekeend as the NCAA Frozen Four regional hockey tourney. I went to both last year and had a great time.

Would've loved to see Peterson break the record as long as the Vikes won. I would rather see Seattle win than Minn. I dont think that the winner of the Packers/Vikes game will go to the Superbowl either. Vikes are to one dimensional on offense, and the Packers dont have enough defense. I wouldnt mind seeing the Redskins do some damage, its been awhile for them too. AFC is not going to be easy either. I am a Broncos fan, and hope they can keep it up. They seem to be as balanced as anybody. The Patriots problem may come down to defense. Houston is good, but I think a bit overrated as well. Ravens might need a bit more offense. I wouldnt mind seeing the colts make a run with the rookie. Wouldnt it be something if it came down to the Redskins and the Colts. I wouldnt mind seeing the Seahawks though......

I guess some of us catch on quicker (I'm 46). I have learned that almost always "even when she's wrong, she's right!" Its easier that way.......
