"Throw the cow over the fence some hay"............

I'll try and check in later if that will help......

Head farther north of Gavins Point Dam, near Gettysburg SD. Bobs Resort is on the banks of the Missouri River. Huge Steaks, really good too. Last I knew it was local beef. I'll post a link where you can see the place (nice view of the river). plus you can click on their menu and see prices. http://www.bobsresort.com/steakhouse/steakhouse.htm When the "Steak Sandwich" is a 14 oz. steak, you better be ready to eat. I cant imagine eating the large..........

I'm Berndog over there.....Nickname I got playing softball years ago.

I put the same Heritage style bars on my RG Custom. 80 bucks for the bars.

You picked the right one! But I may be a little biased.

I just got back from the hills about an hour ago. Our high school basketball team had the chance to make a weekend road trip (5 1/2 hours one way) to play Custer in basketball. The team got to stay at a campground in an old remodeled and finished barn. They had a blast. I tell you what, there is something about driving through Custer State Park and 10 minutes later sitting in the school gym watching basketball. What a great weekend. We stayed in Deadwood last night, and when we left this morning, we had to go through Sturgis. I was telling the wife how crowded it would be etc. We even drove by the campground where I stay, and I could see that she was kind of getting into it. So I am really excited for next year! It was a great weekend, and the boys happened to win to boot!

I just looked at one the other day. It was priced at 420 bucks. Same price as it was before all this craziness started. I wouldve bought it, but I dont have any ammo for it, and we all know how scarce the 9mm stuff is. Another idea for you. I know that every now and again some dealers can come across Police guns that have been taken out of service. For some reason or another the police change models or something and the old guns are taken out of service. You might be able to come across a nice weapon for a decent price.

We actually stay at our campground quite a bit. Of course being from South Dakota we have seen it all before. So on certain days we may just stay back at campground. Several of us have campers (wives wont tent) and we may just have a cookout with several of the neighbors. Some of them have all been camping in same spots for years and it has become an annual thing. Thats what makes it fun. Also pulling a camper, we have a vehicle to run into town to get groceries or beer and such. So for us it is as much about the people in the campground as it is riding up in the hills. But like I said we've seen the hills before. My wife doesnt ride at all. This year I think I have her talked into coming out. I bought a toyhauler just to give her the comforts so she would come out. While she is there I wont ride my bike at all. If we go into town I will be driving a vehicle. Its fine with me. If I can get her out there for 3 or 4 days, I'll gladly stay back and keep it low key. After all it is vacation and I'd love to spend part of it with her. I will still have a few days with my sons.

Sturgis gets really crowded. But that being said, its something everybody should see once. Most of the campgrounds are outside of Sturgis itself. The Buffalo Chip, The Broken Spoke, and Glencoe are some of the biggest. I stay at The Iron Horse Campground. Its not as rowdy as alot of the places. Bathrooms and Showers are clean. Alot of people from my area go there. Its fun. They have a beer barn and the shuttle busses run into town from there. If you are going in a camper better call now. There probly would be a spot at the Iron Horse, but I dont know if they would have any full hookups left. Might have some electricity only, and probly have some spots just to park with no electricity/sewer at all. Aussie Annie stayed at the Campground next door to where I stay at. I didnt know she was there, but she could tell you about that place. You can always come and visit more than once. Then you can see the Black Hills both ways. Have fun with your decision.

Here is a cell phone pic of Devils Tower from 2 years ago while at Sturgis.
-
Just another note. Alot of those things in the hills are relatively close together. You can see alot in one day as far as driving to see the sites. Wall Drug is a little ways to the east, and Devils Tower is a bit to the west.

I am in luck. There is a Five Guys in Fargo ND. Its only 3 or 4 hours away.......
-
I might have to go on a road trip just to find a Five Guys. That looks awesome. I like Wendys too, Like their Spicy Chicken Sandwich Burger Kings Whoppers are good fries arent as good Arby's Beef and Cheddars are good. But not a curly fry guy, and dont like the potato cakes A good regional mexican food chain around here is Taco Johns, way better than Taco Bell Like Subway and Jimmy Johns Hardees, like the Hot Ham and Cheese. But I've probly only eaten there 1 time in the last year. Culvers....not for me

Since I am going nuts with this snowstorm we have going on, I've been thinking (this alone is scary). Many of you commented on my Dairy Queen favorite thread about your favorite item. I mentioned that I didnt like their burgers. So here is a followup question. What is your favorite fast food restaurant and why? I would have to say McDonalds is still my favorite. I love their fries, and I usually just eat their hamburgers. Nothing better than fresh hot fries from McDonalds.......Washed down with a carton of milk!

I got lucky on the .223's. Right before it got nuts. I was in a store thinking I'm almost out, and this is going to get bad. Over in the corner of the ammo shelf hidden in the back was 3 boxes of .223's (1000 rounds each). My neighbors and I each bought 1 box. Got lucky.......Normally this wouldnt last real long. Lots of target shooting etc. But I am going to make it last.

Interstate 90 going from east to west across state basically from Sioux Falls to Murdo (most of the way across) is closed. So is Interstate 29 from Watertown SD (east central) I think all the way to Fargo ND. I know it is closed to the ND state line. Not good out there at all. I walked down to the shop to make sure tractor was ready for morning. Snow is mid shin to knee deep and crusted pretty hard. I had to stop and rest about 4 times in 120 yards. Im guessing about 4 hours of snow moving with tractor, loader, and tractor snowblower tomorrow. All schools are cancelled.

Almost 5:00 p.m., easily over a foot of snow. Weatherman says up to 15 inches possible. Record snowfall for this date is 3.4 inches set in 1948. It is still snowing and blowing. I am tempted to start trying to move some of this snow, but I'm afraid it will just make it worse. Every ridge will drift that much deeper. Guess I can start early in the morning.

8:00 A.M.--- 9 inches of snow right now, wind supposed to really blow mid afternoon. Still snowing hard with huge flakes. Wind is probly 10 to 20 mph right now. Visibility is about 200 yards or so. Looks like tomorrow will be a long day moving a lot of snow...
-
11:00 p.m. and it is really snowing. Flakes are huge. I'd guess 2 inches already and lucky no wind as of yet. Weatherman says winds will gust to 50 mph tomorrow......Yay!!! (insert sarcasm here!) Supposed to carry over to monday morning.

Tried to get some .22 Long Rifle stuff for plinking and varmints etc. Store told me 2 months before they get any in. Totally nuts. Never mind 9mm, .40 S and W, or .223/5.56. Its all hard to find. Up here handgun ammo, alot of rifle/hunting cartridges etc. are gone or in short supply. I think on the hunting rifle stuff, guys are buying extra because price will go up on all of it.

Just started snowing here at 9:30 tonight.

I was on my way home from a high school basketball game tonight. On the way back we stopped at a DQ. I got to thinking about what my favorite DQ treat was, and I decided it would have to be a banana malt/shake. I'm not a big fan of their burgers etc. but I am a sucker for a banana malt. So people, lets hear what your favorites are......

Hey Mark, did you get pounded yet? We are supposed to get the same storm starting tonight, upwards of 12 inches or more with the same high winds. More snow tomorrow as well. We will take it though. Any moisture is a good thing. I'm sure you guys are probobly drier than we are. I have the tractor plugged in and the generator is in the garage ready to go as well. No riding for us though, we have snowpacked roads up here.
