as long as you got all that crap off already, might as well convert it to a bobber.........

Look at it this way, if you dont go during the rally, you will probly kick yourself later and say I should've went when I had the chance. It may give you an insight to another trip later on that you can set up with alot more time. You then can have the best of both worlds. As far as a camper goes, if you want that to stay comfortably, dont blame you one bit. If you ride out and treat the whole trip as getting there is half the fun, thats great too. Its up to you, there really is no wrong answer. I stay at the Iron Horse Campground. Nice place, you can get some sleep there. Clean showers etc. Id say there are as many or more campers/toyhaulers/enclosed trailers than there are tents. Everybody gets along. Only problem with iron horse is that there is very little shade. You are only about a mile down the road from the Chip/Glencoe.

we get several eagles around here. They follow the goose migration. Easy pickings for them. Just the other day I saw a hawk in the road ditch picking at a carcass of an animal. The carcass was down in the snow a bit and I couldnt really see what it was. The hawk tried to fly away with it and ended up dropping the carcass shortly after it took off. The carcass was as big or bigger than the hawk itself. I got out my binoculars and got a good look at what it was eating. It was a blue goose. Dont know how the goose died, but the hawk was trying to fly with it. So I would say a cat is definately no problem for a hawk.

Looks good. I just twisted my brackets from the clamp to the speaker until the speakers sat horizontal. You'll like the sound at speed tucked in behind the windscreen......Thumbs up!

Sorry to hear of your loss.

I am going to pay attention to this thread as well. I've read/watched alot of stuff about the high point as well. As far as reading the good/bad info online. I just bought a CZ P-07 Duty in 9mm about a week ago. Kind of a spur of the moment thing....Anyway did some research on it after I got it. Come to find out that the Early P-07's had problems....not flattering at all. But CZ has stepped up and fixed their problems and the gun really shoots nice. After about 80 rounds or so in the last week, I put 4 rounds out of 10 in a 8 inch diameter target at 50 yards. With the recent snowfall we have had, I could tell where my misses hit behind the target. If the target would have been 12 to 14 inches in diameter, I think I wouldve been about 8 out of 10. So if I wouldve read the early history of the P-07, I probobly wouldnt have bought it. Lucky for me I didnt read it.....Great gun, and fits me well. Say no more. Cant wait to hear your personal experience with the Hi-Point!

I had one on my rstd. Dont know If I can find any pics of how it was mounted. I had a universal windshield bag mounted to hold the amp etc. I had a piece of foam tape on the bag to keep from rubbing/scuffing the top of the speedo. As far as the bag goes, I poked a hole in the bottom to route the speaker/power wires up from underneath. The speakers I had mounted from the mirror stems, but the wind blowing across them made it difficult to hear. I ended up getting U bolts that fit around the bars and mounted them behind the windshield. Much easier to hear. When I used the outfit, I kept the bag open and it seemed to get enough air etc to the amp. The amp will get warm. I very seldom used radio. I used a small Ipod shuffle. I put velcro on the back of it, and a piece on the clutch lever mount. I left the volume on the amp etc on high, and controled all of the volume/controls from the ipod. Worked real good, can control everything with your thumb that way. Your hand never leaves the bars to adjust anything. I found a pic, if I remember right, there were small right angle brackets that came with the speakers. If not I went to menards and picked up a couple brackets and drilled them to fit the u bolts/speakers. Hope this helps.

South Dakota got it pretty bad as well. Black Hills (Rapid City) had just short of 30 inches of snow. Sioux Falls (southeast) has really bad ice and alot of snow. Hundreds of trees and powerlines down. Some areas out of power for 36 hours. Pierre (central) has almost 20 inches. As for me in the northeast, we got missed the first day, woke up this a.m. to 9 inches of snow and its still snowing. Silver lining is that several of these areas needed moisture badly. But feel bad for the farmers/ranchers that have cattle calving. Gotta be tough all over.

I wasnt insinuating that all Glock owners are snobs Just an example. Heck gun snobs can be worse than motorcycle snobs. Glad you found some ammo, I finally came across some 9mm, and had my eye on this gun. So once I got the ammo, I went and got the gun. Around here 9mm, and .22 LR is the worst to find. You can find .40 if you look around. Prices might have gone up a tad, but not really overblown like some of the horror stories I have heard.

The Super Time Warp Millenium Edition must come with an 8 track........

Neighbor has at least one Taurus, he likes it. He said that sometimes they get a bit of a bad rap. But he kind of relates some of it to guys being gun snobs. Price on them is usually reasonable. He wouldnt be afraid to get another, and I'm pretty sure he has more than one. I recently bought a CZ P-07 Duty in 9mm. Absolutely love it, but when you read about it online for reviews, you always read "should've bought a Glock". CZ works flawlessly, and I'm glad I got it. I dont need a Glock, but there is always the snobs putting it down. I think the Taurus can be thought of the same way.

90 percent of SD is under storm warnings. We were supposed to get hit last night by same storm, but it slid by to the south. Didnt miss us by much either. The next county to the south had about 4 inches of snow. Southern SD had a lot of ice with it. Lots of power outages. We still have a chance to get quite a bit of snow yet. Some parts of SD are forecast to get 12 to 16 inches of that crap. Glad to hear that you got some moisture down there. Take it any way you can I guess.

Now if you were to substitue Ice Cream stands instead of bars, you might find some members parked in front........

2013 Ultra and Yamaha Ventures MSRP according to websites is about 1200 difference in price. 21799 for the HD, and 20590 for the S Model. So is the 1200 dollars worth having ABS, EFI etc. worth 1200 dollars. I would say yes for alot of people. Never mind all the other stuff. Is it a crime that the HD is so high priced? I would say yes. Is it a crime that the Venture is priced that high? Absolutely. Whenever somebody inquires about a new venture on here, everybody always recomends buying used. Same bike but alot cheaper ( I agree with that as well). But that says something when Yamahas most loyal following recomends to not buy a new bike. If they cant make upgrades to a good product to make it even better, they have a problem. Its just a different problem. I'm sure if you're buying used, you can find a deal on a HD just like Yamaha's. People always need money, and in HD owners case, alot of the time they need it more. More bling means deeper in the hole as far as money goes. Keep in mind the rarest HD on the road is a stock HD. I have both bikes, so I am on both sides of the fence. For me the bike that fits me best is the HD. But thats just me, I dont expect my choice to fit everybody.......

Some of us grew up having the milkman deliver door to door. I grew up on the farm and had a milkman. Years ago a man bought that delivery service and continued on for another 16 years. So effective monday, I am like everyone else, I will have to get all my dairy products from the store. Its a sad day for us, something we took for granted is now gone. I doubt anyone would ever take over. Thanks for all the years of service Vern Prickett! Heres a link to the story on the 6 o' clock news http://www.keloland.com/newsdetail.cfm/no-more-milkman-in-aberdeen-area/?id=145894

Rooms out in western ND are few and far between anyway, so you can imagine the prices. not sure about Montana. I would for sure double check everything west of Fargo ND.

I am from northeast SD, so I havent been up there personally. Around here if you want to buy a mobile home the prices are nuts. All the trailers are still going up there. I also hear that the traffic can get wild. Think BIG trucks....lots of them. I dont think the eastern part of the state would be too bad at all. As far as western SD goes, there isnt much drilling going on in our state. I think they are going to do a couple of test wells. I dont think the Bakken extends far enough down into SD. Up around Williston ND it is pretty crowded. I know I wouldnt be to anxious to drive up in western ND on a bike at all. Eastern ND I dont think I would be to worried. As far as western SD wouldnt think it would be too bad. Northwestern SD is pretty sparce, so population is more west central and south west, so you should be ok. Like I said I havent been up there to see it first hand, no desire to either. Hope this helps some...

I cant say as though I listened to the whole thing. I dont get into all the different interpretations of it. I prefer it to be sang in the traditional way. I dont believe it is ok for artists to put their "stamp" for lack of a better word on the anthem. Not to long ago I was at a junior hockey game with a friend. The anthem was sung by a very talented girl with a beautifull voice. After the anthem was done my friend said to me "Wasnt that just awesome! I love her rendition of it." I replied "No I dont think it was awesome. I personally think it is insulting to our veterans. You cant even sing along if you wanted too." He looked at me with a blank look on his face, and after a minute he said you know, you're right. I never thought of it that way. Not to take away from anybodys way of singing it as far as talent and sincerity. I just think it should be sung traditionally. I just dont feel I need to be entertained with the anthem. It is a priviledge to hear it correctly, as much as it is to say the pledge of allegiance. I dont really hear people playing around with how the pledge is recited......

http://www.t-motorsports.com/chrome-engine-guard-crash-bar-for-yamaha-xvs650-v-star-400-650-classic-custom/ These are the crash bars..... You are right, it is the Classic and not the custom......

If anybody can chime in here it would be great. My son has a 650 V-Star Custom. It has crash bars etc. My son wants to add some highway pegs, and possibly some passenger pegs as well. Has anybody on here had any experience with the passenger pegs on the V-Star? Looks like the mounts for the pegs are kind of high up on the bike? So probly would want pegs rather than boards? Any input to steer me the right way before I spend a bunch of time on the research end of it would be appreciated.......

Agree with a lot of these posts. I myself usually address people as sir or maam. As in yes sir or yes maam. When I have to barge past that inconsiderate lady in the store blocking the aisle while talking on her cell, I usually say excuse me maam...and lightly tap her on the shoulder as I walk by to let her know I am coming through. Wouldnt want to scare her too badly since she isnt paying attention. What makes me really mad though is employees and businesses with no regard to the public. One store around here has approximately 24 checkout lines (Wal-Mart), and only about 5 checkers at any one time. But they have tried to remedy the crowded line problem. Last month they added about 10 more self checkout lines.....Unbelieveable. Gonna have to start shopping for my odds and ends stuff elsewhere.
