I ride a HD, and its pretty evident that I will never run a CVO. Best of everything, special paint, big motor, all chromed out, you name it, its got it..........Price reflects it too!

I'll try and check in again tonight, since I was late last night. No basketball games to attend, so it should work out. What time are you guys gonna meet? I usually check in about 8:00 central time. I could make it work any time though.

This danged weather is getting old. last week propane in our area was about $1.50. this week about $3.50. People are predicting upwards of $5.00 per gallon. Feel bad for people on fixed incomes.......Let me see, do I need food, or heat.........sucks

Kind of a slow night tonight, so I thought I would see if there was anybody chatting. So far its just me. I can talk to myself I guess, it wont be the first time. Would be more fun if we could get a bunch of us together though.

Too bad, I had downloaded some of his songs. He was real good....

Good for you! My wife and I are celebrating our 25th as well on April 22nd. We plan to celebrate ours with me being in the field getting ready to plant corn. Somehow I think my wife would like your way of celebrating much better than my way. So lets just not tell her what your doing! Seriously though, I am happy things took a turn for the better for you and yours.

Cool Story, I dont know anybody from Draper though. Quite a ways from me. Although my hometown is pretty similar. Although not a cow town, it is a little farm town (under 100 people). Main street is gravel, and the only businesses we have left are a bee company, and a bar. Folks are real friendly here too. I think the people around here are still raised with good values passed down through the generations. Not saying others arent, but when your communities are small, you put differences aside because you all need to work together to make your communities work. Helping each other out is normal, and especially out west near Draper people in trouble can be in serious trouble if the locals dont lend a hand. Great to read the story, made me smile! -

Chamberlain is pretty cool. Years ago when I played American Legion Baseball, we road tripped down there and played them (one of our coaches was origionally from there.) We went swimming in the river there too. We actually were jumping of a cliff bank into the main channel anywhere from 25 to about 45 feet up into the water. Another kid jumped off the railroad bridge (you can get arrested if they catch you). That is about 60 to 80 feet up in the air. He wore tennis shoes because the water hurts your feet when you hit. We also had a boat there for him to get into......Young and dumb, but it sure was fun. -

The floor of the shed is still there. might build a new one on it next summer. -
If any of you southerners out there happen to see any pieces of an 8 x 8 modular plastic storage shed blowing past you, please give me a call. You will know it is mine because there will be about a 3 foot square chunk of shingles from my house roof accompanying it. Apparently neither could withstand 70mph wind gusts last night. Its nice out today though, probly only blowing about 40 mph.....this winter is getting long, might have to go out and start the bike in the garage. Maybe that will help.......

I am a Bronco fan, and I am not sure Denver has enough defense to win this game. But the weather should be decent. I dont think the cold affects Manning as much as wind does. Brady can throw the ball no matter what, wind doesnt bother him nearly as bad. When watching Manning his ball isnt as tight of a spiral. So if the weather is good, I will take Denver in a nail biter. NFC game is going to be a good one. The Seahawks are gonna be tough at home. But I think the 49ers have a good chance. As far as the Super Bowl goes, I think the 49ers would be a tougher team to beat. We saw them play well in the cold at Green Bay, and I dont think Seattle, although still really good, isnt as dominant on the road as they are at home. So if I am going to pick Denver, I am going to root for the Seahawks.

Just another quick note. All of these rides described in the Black Hills are relatively close together. Lots to see, and do in a fairly small area. 50 to 75 miles each way from Sturgis/ Deadwood has a lot to offer when riding. Puc did a good job of describing it, one ride opens right into another. As far as camping goes, I stay at Iron Horse Campground. Love it there. Clean showers/bathrooms, good food, and entertainment. They have a beer barn with small bands. Most of all, I can get a good night sleep. I am past the need to party 24 hrs a day. But if you are looking to camp close to Sturgis I would recomend find a campground where the shuttle bus stops. You can catch a ride into town, or to one of the other campgrounds like the Chip if you want to really party and not worry about driving for a night or two. Best of both worlds that way. I know Aussie Annie stayed at the campground next to where I stay, she could tell you about that place. Yama Mama stayed in Spearfish a few years ago as well at Chris's campground (I think). If I remember right they liked it there. I have a good friend who also stays in Spearfish and has for about 15 years. He loves it, I think it is in the city owned park, and the police patrol it so it is quiet. tx2sturgis stays at Glencoe and likes it there. Glencoe is a party campground, and is about a mile from where I stay. There are a lot of options, but I wouldnt wait to find a spot....

If you havent already done this, scroll down to the Roads and Destination forum. Then click on the thread with South Dakotas region in it. There are 3 topics in there about Black Hills/Sturgis/and Iron Mountain Road. Those should help with the Black Hills. As far as the Black Hills go, There is alot to see, and I would also check out You Tube. Type in Black Hills South Dakota. People always put up vid clips of their vacations. You can get some good ideas as well.....Towns to look for besides Sturgis, and Deadwood are, Hill City (1880 Train), Custer, Spearfish, and even Rapid City. Obvious must rides in the Hills are Iron Mnt Road, Needles Highway, Vanocker Canyon, Custer State Park and Spearfish Canyon. Another great ride is around Sylvan Lake, and of course Mnt. Rushmore, and Crazy Horse monument. Devils Tower isnt far away either......You Tube will help alot

I usually shoot about 25-50 rounds through my marlin bolt action. Then i run a bore snake through it. I decided to see how cheaply I could set up a good little varmint gun. Bought the Marlin from Wal-mart, along with sling, scope, and bi-pod. Think I have 280 bucks into a heavy barreled plinker. Lots of fun. Only drawback to the Marlin is the clip, fits a little loose. Other than that its fun.

Not to change the thread topic, but as far as the price of the .22 ammo, you can buy a .17 hmr rifle cheap enough. The shells are about the same price as a .22. Around here you can find the .17 ammo all over. Shoots fast and flat. Only problem is, its shoots dirty, lots of powder for size of shell. Great plinking and varmint round, its a wicked little round.

Merry Christmas everybody! I always wish people Merry Christmas, and I leave it at that. Whether people look at Christmas for religious reasons, or maybe just Santa coming down the chimney. Either way its a special time of year. As long as my wish is genuine thats all I can do, and most people will accept it for what it is, a heartfelt greeting. Now if you will excuse me, I gotta go plug in my Holiday Tree.........

It isnt just the big box stores......I used to work in a manufacturing plant, and was a team leader in the fab dept. I oversaw 17 workers, and with it being a relatively new company at the time the employee turnover was fairly high. I was amazed at how many people cant read a tape measure......unbelievable, and I had to train these guys. It was a requirement as far as the job description. But the company needed workers, so they hired these guys anyway. So the solution for this was to buy an easy read tape measure. The ones with the fractions printed right on the tape........It wasnt just the young kids either. One of these guys quit after about a year and I saw him awhile later. Guess what he was doing, yup he was a self employed carpenter.......

In South Dakota, you can harvest your deer and donate it to help feed the needy. I think you have to pay the processing fee though. We dress out our deer that we harvest at our neighbors, then cut them up and freeze them until we can all get together and process them over a weekend. That way there is alot of help, good food, and commeraderie. Plus you know that you are getting your own meat. Doesnt get any better than that, its better than the actual hunt. Great time getting together. Although I couldnt work in a butcher shop, I can do what needs to be done when the processing comes around. And its great that this is being passed down to my kids. They look forward to it as much as I do. Another thing we can do together.

I feel your pain....Only about 5 inches here. Just cleaned the driveway for the 2nd time tonight. High tomorrow is 2 (before the windchill). Windchill should be in the -20 below range.
