Years ago I heard of a bank that sold chances on a Ducks Unlimited type fancy shotgun for a fundraiser. You guessed it, a robber came in with shells, took the gun and loaded it, and robbed the place. Dont know if it was a true story, but it sure sounds good..... So moral of the story, when doing a gun fundraiser, try not to do it in a bank.......

What a great memory to have a picture like that! One of the best half hours you'll ever have, and you have a photo of it!

Ya, I could see where that might be a tad bit of an issue.......

Not many people give them a mens name. But since it sputters, stutters and needs cleaning up first, you could call it Mel after Mel Tillis. Just because he stuttered didnt affect how good he could really sing!

How about Pokey.......supposed to be slower isnt it?

When we built our garage, I almost put an oversized range hood in it. I was thinking of grilling all year around. But my wallet thought I had spent enough already. I wish I would've done it. It would have been sweet to just throw on some slippers and go grilling in the winter.....

Since it was such a nice day today, its time to celebrate. Got the grill out, going to make some cheeseburgers, potatoes, and cabbage on the grill. Pretty simple, but its going to taste better than steak tonight! Been quite awhile since we've grilled. Looking forward to the cabbage! Us northerners can be so easily entertained!

On SNL years ago, they did a Waynes World skit about the 10 most misunderstood songs. I could'nt find it or I would of linked it on here. I do remember a reference to Jimi Hendrix and them saying "Excuse me while I kiss this guy..." and another refering to CCR and Bad Moon on the Rise. It was "Bathroom on the Right..." Eddie Murphy did a Buckwheat sings skit too. I will always remember Lionel Ritchies Three Times a Lady as "Fee Times a Mady..."

Thanks for the info, especially on the lounger. We are on the fence aobut having a lounger or not. There is quite a bit of difference in body size between my kids and wife and I. Obviously I am concerned that a lounger would be a fit for everyone. Im guessing we will skip lounger.

For you Brian a certain quote from a movie comes to mind. "I have a pool, and a pond. The pond would be good for you!"......Caddyshack

Wife and I were looking at a Hot Springs/Limelight "Pulse". No lounger, and it does have lights. Not that I was interested in the lights, but it comes with them. I would like to look at a Sundance "Optima" too. Our yard isnt finished in back yet, so the tub would sit in the garage (garage is 34x46 with in floor heat). I have a good cd player etc. in garage. Dont want to put tub outside yet, unfinished yard means dirt in the air etc. and we have them danged mosquitoes in the summer. I'm thinking inside garage would be a nice choice for now, until yard is complete.

My wife recently had some back surgery to clean up a herniated disc in her lower back. She has suffered for a long time with this, and after the surgery she feels much better. Anyway, we have been talking about a hot tub to help her after she has recovered from this surgery. I am looking for some first hand advice from any of you who have or had a hot tub. Pros/cons of brands etc. I am doing some research online, but it is nice to hear from people that you know and trust. I need a tub that is larger, still have kids at home and in college. Would like to seat 5, and not positive I need a lounger in it. Also need jets that are better for low back pain. Local dealer sells Hot Springs spas. But I dont have anybody else local to compare to. Next closest dealer is 80 miles away. The lack of local dealers has me concerned, although Im glad he sells Hot Springs. I will travel if I have to, but it would be nice to walk in and compare brands. Thanks again. Bernie

"your head was like a snowplow..." makes me laugh every time!

I was watching clips from A Prarie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor. This is a old time radio show coming out of Minneapolis Mn. You can find it on public radio. I got a kick out of this clip, and wondered if we are all going to be like this couple talking to their son on the phone....

Now if I were to go away from a full fairing, the Chief Vintage would be high on my list. I did like that bike.......ALOT. See I am not totally HD biased , I just like the older styled bikes. And with the Chieftain, I think Indian was trying to appeal to everybody. In my opinion its hard to throw new and old styling side by side. They tried it and I applaud them for it. But for me it just didnt work in this instance. I would rather see chrome styled whiskers like the venture fairing has than the LEDs. Indian just threw that old fender on there to give the nostalga of the old Indian, whereas the Chief Vintage went all the way.

I am not familiar with the BMW, and the HD's have been talked about alot. Of all the bikes you mentioned I probly would still go with the HD (I own one). I will tell you of my initial impressions of going through the Indian/Victory tent at Sturgis. I am sure both the Indian and Victory bikes are good bikes. But there are some things in the styling of each bike that I dont like, enough to make me not want one. They are probobly minor too. But it is hard for me to get past them. The Victory saddlebag lids. I dont like how they sit on top, and they look flimsy. I know they arent, but I just dont like how they sit. As far as the Victory goes, for me they look like a younger guys cruiser. I dont like how they look any more than I like the HD baggers that are customized with a bigger front wheel and a different front fender. The Indian has kind of the same thing going with the lids. But the old school styling of the bag helps it out somewhat. What I dont like on the Indian is the LED's in the fairing. When I walked into the tent at Sturgis there was a Chieftain smack dab in front of me. My first thought was with the old school front fender and Indian head mouted on it. Why would you put the Modern LED's right above it? To me it just doesnt go together. I am sure it is a good bike, with a great engine. But between the bags and the leds, It just seems a tad off to me. Enough to where I wouldnt buy one. Now if they were to redesign a few things, I may look harder.

.380 around here is slim and none. Cant remember when I have seen it, and when I did, it was a little spendy.......
-
Around here 9mm and .40 s&w ammo can be found all over. Some of the others not so much. Keep the availability in mind...... I have a Beretta px4 storm in the .40, good gun and comfy. I also have a CZ P-07 Duty in 9mm. Between that and the Beretta, I will pick up the CZ almost every time. It just plain fits me better. Neither of these guns would be a good concealed carry gun though. Both are a little big for that. I have large hands as well. When I purchase gloves I wear XL...... I agree, find what fits YOU before you buy. Dont get stuck that it has to be a Glock, Sig, Beretta etc. There are lots of options out there.

I wonder what the exhaust note sounds like. Also if it can pass the epa emissions tests.....

Thoughts coming your way from South Dakota. -
If you dont mind COLD, SNOW, and WIND, Aberdeen SD claims they have lots of jobs available. I would also check out Watertown SD. and Sioux Falls SD. Sioux Falls is the biggest city, about 100,000 people. Watertown, and Aberdeen are about 25,000 people. They are nice communities, and have that country feel about them. Just last year Aberdeen was running an add saying that there were 1000 jobs available in the area. Lots of outdoor stuff to do, hunting and fishing. Pheasants, duck and goose, deer. Walleye, perch, and northern pike. most important, Sturgis is only about 5 hours away........ Just looked at the local Aberdeen SD newspaper classifieds......281 jobs listed there. Alot of them are farm related scattered around the northeast part of the state. Some manufacturing jobs as well. alot of hospital openings, and some auto body jobs at car dealer. Hope this helps.....I am sure there are more in the area, you would have to check south dakota dept. of labor website.

The MSRP was for a 2011 with a 103 motor. You also had the 96 inch option. The 96 option wouldve taken sticker down easily over 1000, probly close to 1500. I'm glad I chose the 103 option. Money well spent as far as I am concerned. If I sell it the 103 will help. Dont know if I would get more money for it. But it will sell much faster with the 103 than a 96. So this is a hijack of the hijacked hijack.....Sorry, but more numbers for Puc........

I did replace handlebars with a different style of HD bar. Cost me 80 bucks for the bar. I thought that was pretty good for a HD bar. I run aftermarket oil and filters in my Road Glide. Oil is synthetic, so its more expensive than the Rotella, but thats a given. I tried S&S brand this time and so far I like it. My Road Glide (2011) wasnt a 40,000 dollar bike either. The Road Glide Custom was 1/2 that, and i added some chrome too. Luggage rack system is spendy (quick release). But all chrome add ons are, aftermarket included. If I remember right I had 1500 bucks of add ons when I bought mine. 800 was luggage rack/passenger backrest, plus I changed windshields, added a drivers backrest, matching highway pegs, and handgrips. Also changed bars, I think I drove it out the door at about 22,500 set up like I wanted. Not much dicker in sticker price. I bought new model year (2011) in jan of 2011. It was a one year color for the RG too. Last spring I changed to a HD "Hammock" touring seat. Cost just shy of 500 bucks. I was looking at an aftermarket seat that cost about 700. If you pay attention, you can find some competitive parts. If you dont, or want some HD accessories that really stand out, you can pay through the nose....... MSRP on the RG didnt change from 2011 to 2012. I think 2013 was pretty close to same too. No RG in 2014, rumor is it will be back in 2015 with a design change. Expect a price jump when it comes back........Dont have to change MSRP when everybody does add ons. Change the parts prices..... Sorry about the hijack of the hijack. Thought I could give Puc some numbers.

besides the obvious tools and clothing. I added fuses for the bikes lights, and I made a set of jumpers that are long enough in case you needed another bike to give you a jump. The jumpers have the same quick connect harness as my battery tender, so I dont have to open up the bike to get at the battery.......Havent had to use them, but its nice to know I've got them. I have had to replace a fuse. And that reminds me, have some allen wrenches too. gonna need them to get at the fuse.
