Swapping out rear, goodbye Full Bore, hello Michelin
bj66 replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Just get yourself a better (bigger) pair of deer horns. If mounted correctly you could lay the bead breaker across them like one of them rear window gunracks you used to see in pickup trucks.......It would be a practical fashion statement!!!! -
If you guys order for me when you get to DQ, when I get there my ice cream should be waiting for me. I hate standing in line. Problem solved, plus if my ice cream sits for a little while there is less chance of a brain freeze..... Please refrain from brain freeze and owning a HD in the same sentence please

Its always something, problems on the way to Ragtops party...

2 reasons..... 1. It was after my daughters double header softball game. Not bike related, and I was hungry at 9 p.m. 2. While Blizzards are awesome and I've had my share, I am a sucker for banana malts. Banana malts, thats how I roll I guess!!! -

I'm not a fan of DQ burgers. However they have a danged good turkey, and an even better club sandwich. Which is a good thing because it is hard just stopping there for ice cream. The club sandwich and a banana malt.....just had that one last night. Whoppers are good though, minus the tomato. I could stop there in a pinch -
Alot of you have seen the pic of my Minneapolis Moline tractor that I have restored. If not look it up in my photos. When I got it in the shop, it had been sitting in my father in laws trees for years. A soft plug was out in the back of the motor and mice got in through the hole. They worked their way all the way up to the radiator where they made their nest for years. When we got it in the shop we got out as much of the nest as we could and tried to start the tractor to see if it would run and be worth restoring. It is a propane and after ten minutes or so we decided it wasnt getting fuel and took the regulator apart. After removing a wasp nest that was inside the regulator, we tried again and it fired right off. Then the work began.......it was alot of fun restoring, and I wish I wouldve kept track of how many hours went into it. So long story short, if it sits, critters will get in there somewhere!

I live out in the country, and my county highways are in bad disrepair due to flooding in past years. The county had patched pothles in the asphalt with gravel to save some cost. In certain places they would do a complete section of highway with gravel on top. Thats even worse, gravel doesnt stick and it turns to marbles. This year with new highway commisioner they are starting to patch properly. But right now going to my house I have 3 places where asphalt is completely covered in a half mile distance. I just go fast enough to keep a good balance (maybe 10 mph). Im getting pretty good at driving on those marbles. And of course being in the country I am used to gravel roads as well. On those I just look at both edges of the road. Usually one of them is scraped clean a foot or so wide as a result of the blades last pass where he is feathering the gravel to the middle to make a crown. If I see the smooth edge I head for it immediately...

electric fence, and bb gun.......i agree. I am also having same problem. I even tried an air horn can like you put in a boat. The one I have just looked at me like I was goofy. It might work for you though. The one I have is really tame. As a fawn last year his mama got hit by a car and the neighbors raised him. He showed up at my place last fall and now he is here again. My boys were petting him the other day. The air horn might work for awhile on something less tame......

Since the new HD just made it to the garage, is it possible that the 2 pink bicycles were already there, and were the backup mode of transportation for the previous bike......
-
It just means that not all Harley riders are bad a****. Some of them have big hearts!!! Or it could mean that they have great balance and can ride a kids bicycle with training wheels. I'm betting on the big heart!!!

Are my eyes getting bad, isnt that a pink bicycle in the back right behind the barstool?
-
I just dont underestand why all these people are givng you crap about a bike. So what if it is sitting behind a barstool, is pink, and has training wheels. To each their own, if you want to ride training wheels, I say go for it. As far as the HD goes, i say its pretty danged sweet!

I'll be there AGAIN. Staying at the Iron Horse....AGAIN. I think I still have your phone number stored in my phone. It was fun getting together the last time at the school. Works much better than trying to meet at the Ted Nugent concert. Those spur of the moment deals dont work so well sometimes. Looking back on it, I was just going to holler out your name because it was so quiet there at the full throttle. The only reason I didnt was because Ted was on a roll with one of his rants and I didnt want to interrupt.......It was the polite thing to do......

Please keep the folks in mind in northeastern Nebraska with the tornadoes. Also southeastern SD, northwest Iowa, and southwestern Minnesota. Alot of those towns got close to 9 inches of rain the other night on top of alot of rain in the last week or so. Lots of flooding with I-90, and I-29 being closed. ( I-29 since reopened). South Dakota and Nebraska are both in "states of Emegency". Local news said hundreds of volunteers have headed to Rock Valley Iowa to help with the sand bagging. If any of our members are in need, dont hesitate to let us know. We will try and help if we can! Midwesterners tend to really pull together, and this site is no different.

Fools Gold......... Actually I like to use peoples names. My bike is orange and being a farmer I call it Alice, after Allis Chalmers orange tractors. So since you have 3 wheels, you could call it "3 Pete". Its definately a winner and worthy of being a champion.

Years ago my dad was in his upper 70's, got a call from a telemarketer that started into his presentation. Dad waited about a minute and interrupted him by saying " Sorry to interupt you, but the neighbor lady is here and my wife is due home in five minutes....." He said it was just silent on the other end of the phone. I just about die when i think of that one. I can just picture him doing that, just plain awesome. I'm gonna use that one someday.

One thing to remember about the HD shops with all the clothing and accessories. Their clearance racks have a lot more to choose from. I own a couple of sweatshirts, one gift and the other I bought for 20 bucks. I have 3 or 4 button front shirts that are really nice all off the clearance racks. Paid less for them than clothing at Cabelas. So you can affordably get clothes. Matter of fact I got a leather HD Jacket (Christmas gift) that is by far the warmest coat I have, and it was 60 percent off. So if I were to put it all on at once, you'd say "man what a poser" and roll your eyes. But would you say that about the 3 or 4 shirts that I have from The Knuckle, One Eyed Jacks, Broken Spoke, or just plain Sturgis shirts? I have more of them than I do HD shirts. I even still wear my 2 Star motorcycle shirts. Matter of fact I wore one of them today. It would be nice if all bike brands offered the same amount of accesories etc. It would be fun to see what kinds of clothing youd see walking down the sidewalk in front of you. Technically I probobly could be classified as a "poser". I havent been riding as much as I'd like because farming just plain takes alot of time and I got to do what I have to do. But that isnt related to just HD, that happens no matter what brand you ride. Im sure most all of us would like to ride more than we do now. Heck I have to have some motorcycle themed clothing, because to be honest I wouldnt look very good in some bright orange plaid golf pants.......

I have used Krestol Salve on cuts and burns before. This stuff works good. It is really thick and kind of a mess, but it seems to help alot. It doesnt smell the best, but I can get by that. I have had cuts etc on my hand and I put that stuff on at night and put a clean tube sock over it so it doesnt rub off on the bedding. You can see the difference the next morning. It reminds you of a thick gooey bees wax......My wife will even use it on dry chapped hands in the winter. Here is a link to the stuff. A can will last you a long long time too http://www.mcnesscpg.com/producthp.asp?_id=138&356.2738

Tell him your waiting to see what the new Road Glide Ultra will look like. Sounds like an even better deal........
-
I dont remember the Mercury Cyclone, I was only 3 in 69. But I looked them up, and I'd like to have one of them.

I use Dairyland, 3 bikes at just under 550 per year. My Road Glide is about 80 bucks higher than my rstd, and my v star 650 is real cheap. Dont plan on changing anytime soon. My agent is an independent, and also a motorcycle guy. I trust him to find me a good policy. He's also a friend that I trust. By the sounds of some of your numbers, it appears hes doing his job.

I lost a real good friend on one of those parachute contraptions. He took off in his yard on a calm morning, got up in the air less than 100 feet and lost all lift. He went down in his cattle lot. His wife saw it all. Small town fire dept had to respond and we all were his friend. He left behind a wife and 2 young kids. He loved that machine too. Terribly unfortunate. Needless to say I am not a fan of them. Every summer there are a few of them around here, and when I hear them I try not to even look up. Its just to hard....

South Dakota has some good ones too. Our high school plays a school from the town of Hitchcock. Ive been in Peever, Bath, Lemmon, Faith, Java, and Athol. The western part of the state has alot of colorful names. Most are small towns in the badlands etc.
