  1. I've had that since 2011. Nice try
  2. My subscription is about due and I don't think I'm going to renew. I'm riding less and less while working more. I used to check site 3 or 4 times a day. Now I'm lucky to get on once in 4 days. I enjoyed my time here and all the fun nights in the chat room. It was fun meeting some of you over the years out at Sturgis. As of now I am planning on heading that way again this year. If it works for you, I'd meet at the Blue Line for some pie. I really enjoyed the last time. I will probably browse the site from time to time and who knows may even join back in. But I will still keep up with some of you through facebook. So Freebird, thanks for giving me a place to hang around all these years! Y'all take care
  3. You just won the internet for the day with this post! Isn't it funny how the ones that are the most proud, shouldn't be?
  4. My home town doesn't have a paved street, all gravel. River 2 miles from my house is starting to flood. Fisherman are on every bridge. Saw a newborn calf tonight at my cousins farm. Watched 100's of thousands of geese migrating through last week. That means several bald eagles following the geese. Had to stop in road tonight and wait for 5 deer the walk into my trees. Pretty random observations, but I wouldn't trade where I live for anything.
  5. I live on east side of state. I have friends that say the best time to ride the hills is the week after labor day. Kids are back in school so tourist numbers are down. Bonus is starting to see fall colors. Most all of the businesses are still open. Easier to find lodging etc. As far as Deadwood itself. It isn't very big, and it has the historic main street. You have to think of Deadwood as the Black Hills. Study up on the area. 50 miles each way from Deadwood is some of the best scenery and riding you can imagine. Even take the suggestions Casey has said about rides and do a you tube search, you will like what you see. Also if you like the old west check out the 1880s train. Also it's worth the drive through the badlands. It's like being on the moon compared to the Black Hills. Amazing that two different landscapes are that close together. Most of all have fun!!!!!!
  6. My wife has been a vet tech for 31 years. Came in contact with animal last fall and had to get shots as a precaution. Let me just say this......NOT CHEAP (in the thousands)
  7. If you like tinkering etc. I'd watch sites like cranky ape and watch for toy haulers. Can be bought cheap. Most repos need some fixing of some sort.
  8. Sunday night we had 9.1 inches officially at the weather station in town (20 miles away). I think I had more than that. Anyway it broke a record set In 1927.
  9. I was outside with my lever action Daisy. I went to reload it after shooting and the pivot pin that attached the lever to the gun fell out. So naturally I thought my gun was broke and unrepairable. I went into the house, gun in one hand, lever in the other blubbering away. Mom asked me what was wrong. I held up the gun and the lever and all I could blurt out was "my cock fell off". She burst out laughing and it made me cry even more. I don't know how many times I've been reminded of that over the years...
  10. Seldom do we see a fox anymore. We have so many coyotes now that we never used to have.
  11. Out here on the farm if I see skunks I take care of them. Alot of the time they are sick. The exception is in the spring. Snow melt usually forces them out of their homes in culverts and such. If I have a live trap out, I attach a wire to the trap and make a couple of revolutions around the trap, with the other end of the wire a safe distance away. If you catch a skunk you can stand a safe distance away, pull on the wire, and it will roll the trap upside down allowing the door to open and letting the skunk walk out. Once it is out and away from the trap I can dispatch it. The trap doesn't stink and I don't shoot a hole in it. I immediately bury the skunk. Of course I live on a farm and rabies is a concern with other animals.
  12. Wait until somebody has a garden with sweet corn......... I have trapped a few raccoons. Usually use cat food, or an egg. I've even used a golf ball. Had the racoon the next day. I suppose he was curious.
  13. As a neighbor to the west (South Dakota) I've always wanted to make it over to Pork in the Pines to meet all of you. The timing and farming don't work out the best, which is unfortunate. You've got a lot of people sending thoughts and prayers your way. Take care my friend, hope you are feeling better!
  14. Dropped by last night after I got home. All the lights were turned out including the porch light........
  15. Really nice looking bike! I ride a 2011 Road Glide and love it. Best part is making it yours. I did handlebars matching pegs, floor boards, grips, quick tatch backrest and drivers backrest from HD when I bought it new. Could've gotten along without the matching stuff but it thought what the heck, I'm only doing this once. Only other thing i added from HD was the"Heavy Breather" air Breather when I did the stage one 2 years after I bought it. Each year at Sturgis I add something, I know I can find stuff cheaper on line etc. But I can put my hands on it and give it a look over. I have stuff from Rush, Kuryakyn, J&P, Harley Goodies, Soft lowers from Desert Dog, and windshield (common for rg's) from National Cycle. I saved a lot of money by shopping around, but some of the HD stuff is just as affordable. The HD handlebars were 80 bucks. Just remember once ya start tinkering, it gets hard to stop.....best mod I did was order spacers for the floorboards to move them out from the frame. Moved them out approximately 3/4 inch for about 30 bucks. Huge improvement, and you don't notice it by looking at it. Have fun and enjoy it!
  16. I have a relative that's at Barrett Jackson at we speak. He is in his upper 80s and loves old stuff. He has bought a few vehicles. Not the fancy show cars, but restored. 2 or 3 weren't that great of a restore, but the others were solid vehicles I'd guess he spent anywhere from 10 to 40 grand on them. More than I would spend, and I guess he can afford it. So if it keeps him young why not. He is such an antique collector that it is crazy. If the family has an auction it would take multiple days.
  17. I wasn't late because of my Harley, I have a perfectly good Excuse. I went to the high school basketball game. It is my duty to try out every schools concession stand to see who has the best popcorn! I rate Northwestern High Schools popcorn a 7 on a scale of 1-10. It would be higher if they would offer butter, but it wasn't bland like packing peanuts or over salted. After all Puc, I am 5 hours from pie at the Blue Line Diner......
  18. Thanks for the compliment. I made this out of a golf cart trailer that has drop axles. It goes right to the ice. Floor is 4x8 with 20 inch wide side benches running the length of it (not quite wide enough to sleep on). I'm not a carpenter by any means so it isn't totally square but it works. I made it last year and figured I needed to insulate the floor for to his year. So I added 2 inches of insulation in the floor. It heats easy. Inside and outside plywood are 1/4 inch making it really light. I tow it with a 96 Toyota Tacoma at about 3900 pounds. Ice shack weighs 900 pounds. Together I weigh about what a 1/2 ton 4wd pickup does. I can fish 2 guys, 4 lines but that's it. Any more than that you need tip ups outside. Coldest I've been out in it is -10 and I was in t shirt with the Mr heater big buddy on low. I think she's a winner. Never have trouble finding somebody to go fishing with me because it's comfy....... I can at least watch Wild Hogs on the TV/dvd player for my bike fix. I gotta get some more biker movies....... Also you can't steal it. The axles and the tongue are removable and are in my pickup when I leave the ice!
  19. Here is where I been spending my time. Not quite as entertaining as riding motorcycle but still fun never the less. If you look to the left wall, there are a couple of tip ups hanging there. Puck called them flip ups.
  20. Puck, you get a pass though. It's not just the stickers, it's the antelope horns on your mirror stems! And yes, I am catching a few fish. Brother and I did well yesterday, not so hot today. I guess that's why they call it fishing and not catching. Getting a crappies and occasional perch.
  21. Local Polaris dealer quit selling bikes a long time ago. He had them for a few years. I asked them last time I was in there why there were no bikes on the floor, he said he couldn't sell them. The ones he did sell were to younger kids and were town/bar hopper bikes. I'm not sure of the models but it seems like the Vegas and Jackpot models ring a bell. I only remember seeing a Vision in the store one time. Dealer has no desire to sell bikes anymore, just snowmobiles and atv/side by sides. Closest HD dealers are over an hour away and he still couldn't sell any Victorys.
  22. Same kind of weather here in SD. Over an inch of rain yesterday with 40 mph winds. 16000 homes last I heard are without power. Most are small town and rural. Some places will be several days before power is restored. Lines are down, lots of snapped off poles. No travel is recommended. I got lucky, I didn't lose power. Isn't winter Fun! Hope to get ice shack out in next day or two. That will make me feel better.....
  23. If you don't like the weather here just wait it will change. Take today for example, one week after -59 windchill, today we have rain and even thunder. Over an inch of rain and it's causing big problems. Flooding in town, I imagine storm drains are froze up and not working. I was told someone even had a canoe out paddling down a street. Temps are dropping and roads and power lines are icing up. 40 mph winds and iced up lines are not good. I still have power but many homes do not. Still managed to make it to inlaws for Xmas dinner but didn't stay as long as normal. Hopefully we make it through the night with power. Calling for another 1/2 inch of rain tomorrow as well. On the bright side all this rain would've been a lot of snow to push.....
  24. Hey Puc, you left out a couple of R's
  25. I believe to get the -59 wind chill the wind was ony blowing 8 mph. Doesn't take much when it's that cold....
