Scooter, why no reply to dancing at the wedding???? LMAO I couldn't resist, you know me... That is one awesome tower. I would love to hear the bells ring. The church here in Fox Lake has the bells ring during Christmas time and they are beautiful to listen to. Karen

Thanks for the pics folks. I appreciate being able to put names and faces to people who have been writing for the last few days. Scooter Bob's other half, Karen

I spoke to Scooter Bob this morning. He was getting ready to pack up and head out of the Louisiana maintenance day festivities around 8:30 this morning. He said he had a great time, met some really nice people and did some maintenance (a front tire for himself and some other work for others). He will post more of his adventure when he has a chance. Keep the rubber side down Scooter. Love ya. Karen

Are there any pictures from the wrenching today? Would like to see them if there is. A shout out to Squidly and Lana for Venturing out in the weather the way they did (pun is intended). Karen

Unemployment is pretty high here in Wisconsin too. I have been out of work for over a year and collecting unemployment. At this point, after really learning how to severely cut costs, Scooter and I have learned how to live more reserved than ever. I finally had an interview for a "part time" position at a local bank but this position has no benefits but there are some opportunities for advancement with training that they are willing to pay for. The one thing that bothers me the most (and I don't begrudge those of you doing this) is the fact that I was one of approx. 75 people laid off after 12 years on the job and cross trained nearly everywhere in the plant. Now that their business is getting somewhat better, they have brought in temps through a temp service to work. These guys get no benefits either so that they are eligible for state health insurance and (probably) are not contributing to a 401k or future retirement plans. The state health insurance plan maxed out in November and they were not taking any more applicants. Yeah, the business is turning a minor profit now, but at whose cost...the tax payers. "The rich get richer" quote comes to mind here. Enough babble though, I can only hope that 2010 is better than 2009 and pray for guidance from above that when one door closes, another opens. Without God and Scooter Bob in my life, the situation would have seemed helpless. Best luck to all of you who are out of work and seeking meaningful employment. Karen

I doubted his sanity too , thought he was spending way too much time with me that he had to come up with a hairbrained idea to drive to Florida. Most everyone that rides in our neck of the woods thought he was slightly off his rocker also . Proved em all wrong didn't you dear? Keep us informed, and keep the pictures coming too. Bring me home a bottle of sunshine please (not moonshine) :sun:We're missing you on the homefront but it is sunny and 32 degrees here right now. I spent the last hour outside on the deck in ________ trying to beat out the tan that you will come home with :rotf:, but then the neighbors called the police and I'm sitting in ... Just kidding. Til I hear from you again, Karen

We woke up this morning and the sun was out. Guess the trip has begun although Scooter has been dreaming about it for weeks now. Just got off the phone with him. Scooter left this morning at 8:15 headed for Florida. I can't figure out how he thinks he is dressed warm enough :superman:but he said so far only his finger tips are cold. Just outside of Fox Lake, he ran into icy road conditions:snow: and said it was extremely slow going until he reached highway 151. We didn't have enough sand in the sandbox to help him out for that many miles. He has realized a few very funny things already on this trip. He can't smoke his cigarette with his snowmobile helmet on which wasn't sooo terribly bad but he also realized that he can't drink his coffee without a straw either. Scooter will be posting his trip but you may hear from me on here too...I already miss him . Be safe dear heart and keep the rubber side down. Your guardian angels sits on your shoulder. Remember...Free and easy down the road I go. My thanks goes out to all of you who are following this thread and have contacted Scooter to meet or offer safe trip wishes. Now the only thing Scooter needs is a new target for the scavenger hunt while he is traveling. Any takers out there? Give Scooter a challenge:think: Til later, Karen

I get to take this out of the text that you originally wrote this for. I am a passenger on a bike but a driver of a cage. Has this made a difference? Hell yes... I have been driving a cage for 25+ years but have been on the back of a bike for only three. I have become soooo aware of what has been transpiring around me ONLY because of what I have seen as a passenger on a bike. I have learned and am diligently practicing defensive driving ONLY because I have watched Scooter Bob drive a motorcycle the way he does. I always took driving as a right, not as a priviledge, and also am guilty of lazy driving skills up until I did not have the four walls around me. Only then did I become aware of how hazardous my driving skills were (but are still not as bad as some)... I wish that EVERY up and coming new driver had to be a passenger on a bike first to become aware of how every split second counts in being a defensive driver. I owe my life to Scooter at least twice (and the other drivers that drive on the same highways I do owe Scooter also) because if it weren't for him refreshing my defensive driving skills, I would still be the lazy "I own the road" driver that I used to be. I love all you bikers and our safety is always in my prayers. Karen

This must be the blond in me LOL... I have a slap chop, shamwow, and... the magic bullet. Where did Scooter Bob find me? LMAO I actually have had great success with the magic bullet as I made all the grandchild's baby food with it. Talk about a cost savings there... Shamwow I am not so convinced of but the a few good things about those things are that they rinse off really easily (I use them to dust floors with three dogs living in this house --oh, I forgot, Scooter Bob lives here too LOL) and they don't leave lint on everything. The slap chop I am not impressed with. I try to do what they do on TV but it never looks the same and cleaning it is a pain in the axx. Am I too gulliable??? Better compare notes with Scooter on this? Later Karen

Just thought another female should reply to this. I just finished reading all four pages of the replies and some of the advice is great. Although no where is it mentioned if there are children involved as that would be more difficult to address no matter how you look at it. Remember though, that the IRS can also help you out by garnishing future tax returns of your ex's if you have move that is owed to you that you did not receive when she falsely filed the amended tax returns. Though I am not a lawyer, can't the IRS go after her for falsifying tax returns? That would help some of your legal fees if that route is available. I agree, look into hiring a CPA that will dedicate quality time and possibly more knowledgable advice and service to you (this is not to say that H&R is not useful). On a lighter note, please thank God above for the new woman in your life. Make sure you tell her you love her and above all else, share your thoughts with her so that she is not left out of the circle. It sounds like you have a wonderful lady there and if you share your thoughts about this with her, she will love you all the more (I speak from experience with my current partner, soul mate and love of my life). God will reward you for your caring "nice guy" attitude, although it may take you some time to notice when the reward comes your way. Trust Him. I do and I will send up some thoughts to Him for you. The saying that "nice guys finish last" is unfortunately most often the case but it really feels GOOD when it is all said and done to know that you upheld your integrity. Good luck to you and hope to meet you and your lady friend some day. Karen (Scooter Bob's partner)

The power of prayer is a wonderful miracle. From Karen and Scooter Bob, may God be with you on Monday. Karen

As the owner of three dogs myself, I can understand the necessity of keeping the dogs restrained due to the fact that the animals do chase the cars. BUT, not one response here has stated the possibility that the dog was loose on accident (maybe broke the leash/chain, etc) and the owner was not aware of it. I would have went back to the owners and let them know about the incident. I have seen folks purposefully swerve to actually hit animals on the road hence the words animal cruelty comes to mind (although that is not the case here). As a dog owner, I would have wanted to know what happened to my pet, hoping and trusting the Lord that indeed, it was an accident and actually apologizing to the cyclists, not try to pick a fight. Then I would have taken my dog off the road so that no further risk was there and also so that I could lay my animal to rest. It is unfortunate that our culture has become so vicious that to actually try and do the right thing by going to an owner of the animal actually puts yourself in danger of the situation escalating into violence. I am truly sorry to hear that you have had to go through the experience and just by the tone of your note here, I can feel how upset you and your wife are. Don't let the decision not to stop affect the fact that you are truly good people. No matter what, you have to protect you and your family first. Kare

By the way Dan, thanks for those gifts for Shari and I. Has Shari used hers yet? Had a fantastic time on Saturday. It felt good to get back on the bike after 4 weeks of healing time for us and the bike. Got back before dark but it was like deja vu all over again for the ride back on Saturdy evening. We skirted the rest of the rain and got back safely but I was pretty nervous being out there again trying to skirt a storm coming in. The car show was actually had over 500 cars there and everyone had a great time. I have to head to the fire station right now to claim all my dishes and utensils that were used. Good luck with the start of the new job today and tell Shari that I am thinking about her. With the EAA starting this week, I am getting to be an expert and those airport arm signals (LMAO). Til the next time we see you, be safe.

Looks like we had better be careful with the Geico Insurance. For more follow up on this, read Eck's thread going on now about how they are currently handling his claim. We will need to follow that closely.

This one was way too funny not to respond to. I am LMAO. Didn't you ever hear of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it? Hope you get it back together soon as riding season has begun already!

Ride in the Fox Lake, WI St Patrick's Day Parade March 15
ladyfyrefiter replied to Scooter Bob's topic in Watering Hole
By the way, this is a "dress up" affair if you can. Green beads and hats etc. look great when contrasted with black leather! We have our beads, head bands, and hats ready to go. Today, we wash and polish the bike (when riding so much, this has become only a once a year event LOL). Any reason to ride is a good reason don't you think. The weather prediction is getting better and better...looks like 50 degrees for Sunday! We hve new friends and riders joining us this year cuz the weather looks good. Come and join us in our ride and stay for the fun and meet new people. We (Scooter Bob and I) are looking forward to meeting you. Don't forget, if you have green, bring it along.
