  1. Boy, when I think back to Luckenbach, it almost brings tears to my eyes. The folks sitting around the Picker Circle, the roosters fighting, meeting folks from all around the country(several from WI), the buildings, the atmosphere. I can't wait to find a way back here for a few days, and bring Karen along. Here's a few more pics... Later, Scooter Bob
  2. Don't feel too bad Don. I've seen a lot of maps with those funny lookin' white states between the colored ones. But that other trip you're planning should make it look pretty nice. Later, Scooter Bob
  3. That would be a mighty long fence. Jeff, when do you think you'll be getting out of winter this week, and what route to NM are you taking? Looks like I'll be heading towards home from Colorado Springs Thusday morning. Depending on the weather/road conditions/traffic, I'll probably run I70 east towards Topeka, and then I don't know. Later, Scooter Bob
  4. Thanks for the Offers, Tom and Gary. If I had known Monday morning that I had till Wednesday night to get to CO SPRS, I would have done that. :buttkick:myself But even then, I didn't realize quite what I was up against for milage. Wisconsin takes up two pages in my atlas and New Mexico fits on one. But apparently that doesn't mean it's smaller. I had 300 miles on getting to FT Stockton yesterday, and then set Garmin for fastest route to Colorado Springs. It said turn right off of US285 onto Hiway 54...IN 305 MILES:doh: AND TOTAL 660 MILES TO CO SPRINGS:bang head: So I kept pounding to here, trying to get today under 500 miles. And now it turns out I HAVE to take two days to do that 500, so time to take it easy again. Later, Scooter Bob
  5. Hey, Thanks for the offer. But I'm going to be bumming around NM yet today and then heading north. I did find out last night that I now have two days to get up to Colorado Springs to see an old biker friend, Big Roy (he's busy tonight, and there in a snowstorm right now:doh:). My plan for the day is to do a little touristy stuff today, stop and look at stuff, and take it easy, and just get 100-200 miles north of here today. Then I'll just have another leasurely 300 mille day on Wednesday and stay at Big Roy's and go out for beers and BS'n (ya'll know I'm good for that). If all that works out, it looks like everybodies weather starts looking better at the end of the week for the run back to WI. Later, Scooter Bob
  6. Finally spotted my first Venture of the trip on Friday, the 25th. No it wasn't the ones at Kreg annd Janets, but close. I met a Midnite with a couple on it on TX Farm Road 1488 about 15 miles North of Waller. Also saw a blue/black RSTD when I got to Luckenbach. I talked to the guy, and said he used to be on this site, maybe he'll come back?? Later, Scooter Bob
  7. It's working fine here in Artesia, NM. Must just be a left coast thing. Later, Scooter Bob
  8. Chalk up another one! Later, Scooter Bob
  9. I think I found the desert. Right after I headed North on 285 from Fort Stockton, things got flat and the road got straight. Later, Scooter Bob
  10. Very pretty riding along I10 towards Fort Stockton. I even had a ROAD RUNNER dart across in front of me. Wish I could have got a pic of that, but I was going 75-80mph at the time. Ya, the speed limit is 80MPH out here. Later, Scooter Bob
  11. I just parked in Artesia, NM. Hot sun and 91 degrees and been battling winds from the west since I turned North off of I 10 on hiway 285. I would have loved to stay another day in the hill country, but I just couldn't do a fourth night in a row in the tent. I'm heading for a quick shower and go soak in the pool for a while. I'll be back later with more pics. Later, Scooter Bob
  12. Here's a few more pics from Luckenbach after I set up camp. What a wonderful experience. Maybe more pics later, got to go meet my neighbors. Later, Scooter Bob
  13. So where you at now? And whatcha doing tommorow? I'm havin' thoughts of riding around here for a while and coming back here tomorow afternoon. Later, Scooter Bob
  14. Ya, about the time I got here. What a unique place. Thanks for everything in Waller! I had a great time! Later, Scooter Bob
  15. I've arrived! Gary and Mary and another couple from Canada showed up before I had my first beer down. More later this evening. Later, Scooter Bob
  16. Almost to Luckenbach, found Albert ! Nice place! Later, Scooter Bob
  17. Wow, welcome to Texas Hill Country! Just 15 miles west of SanMarcos, on the way towards Blanco, I find this... Should be to Luckenbach in an hour or two! Later, Scooter Bob
  18. Good idea Don. Hurry up before it gets any hotter. I believe someone is having a little MD get together in northern TX on April 30, might be something to plan for. Later, Scooter Bob
  19. This just rolled in, should be a wild time here after a few beers! Later, Scooter Bob
  20. Here's the set up at the SE TX MD at Kregerdoodles. That's my scoot on the far left, ya It made it with no problems! A little over 1,500 miles. Later, Scooter Bob
  21. Found a little history on the way down yesterday. Mostly pretty flat riding, but plenty of trees yet. Later, Scooter Bob
  22. Will do Craig! Right now I'm waiting for everything that was in my wallet to dry, because my collapsible cooler leaked all over the table last night. Later, Scooter Bob
  23. Where's my ?? It's 57 and overcast this morning, but I do see hints of clearing. Of course, my nose doesn't need anymore :sun:for a while. An yes Honey, I even put sunscreen on it yesterday. (maybe a little late) I think I'm going to follow this US259 to it's other end near Nacogdoches, then route 7 over to Crocket, and then whatever other backroads I can find heading towards Waller. Should be in there later this afternoon, and set up camp for a couple days and rest my butt. Later, Scooter Bob
  24. What a way to wake up this morning. That was a good one. Thanks, Scooter Bob
  25. Please don't spend any time one that, I was kinda kidding. Thanks, but I know how. What I meant to say was that I have been to one of those uncolored states, and that visit was certainly not nearly as memorable as all these I've ridden to. Ya, this has been some wonderful riding so far. I was in TX and OK with my dad in the semi when I was 17, and I thought it was mostly desert like and boring. So far plenty of trees, rivers, and lakes, although things do seem to be flattening out a bit. Maybe I'll find the desert when I head west from Luckenbach. Later, Scooter Bob
