Well, Karen and I have known for some time now! Karen's daughter Missy had a big baby boy this morning. 8 pounds, 15 ounces and 20.5 inches long. So, we be grandparents again. Here's Jackston... http://tapatalk.com/mu/a6b54019-d356-fadf.jpg http://tapatalk.com/mu/a6b54019-d374-4bf0.jpg Later, Scooter Bob

Washington State - Where Did You Ride Today
Scooter Bob replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
Did you say HI to my Aunt Carol when you were in town?? I rode out to Washington and visited her and her family in 2000, might get out that way again on the way to the international in July. Later, Scooter Bob -
So what do you think, did I get my money's worth out of these pads?
Scooter Bob replied to LilBeaver's topic in Watering Hole
As long as this thread just showed up again, and since I just took delivery yesterday of a new set of Avon sneakers and the usual set of rear pads, here's what I've been running on the back, they last a little more than the life of the tire, and I just change them every time I mount a new one. http://tapatalk.com/mu/a6b540b5-93ca-4230.jpg Later, Scooter Bob -
Awesome Poem. I'll hunt this thread down when the day comes.

Sorry to hear that Walter. I'm sure that's tough on you and the Missus and Wes. But I'm sure there are tons of good memories to keep a smile on your faces. We've been putting that off ourselves. We've got a PekaPom almost 16 years old. He has an enlarged heart that causes him to pass out and fall over every time he gets excited. That's been going on for almost 2 years. $50 a month for meds helps a little, but he still tips over at least twice a day. Cataracts have him almost blind and he can't hear much either. But he's usually looking happy yet, and he can still tell when Dad's got a beer and still begs for a sip, so we still keep him around because for the most part he seems happy. Best Wishes, Scooter Bob and Karen

Uh Oh, is IH Truck guy on the loose again, showin' off that shiny new rig??? Later, Scooter Bob

If a cylinder is firing, the header pipe WILL burn you, if it's not firing, you can almost hold your hand on it. The 99 and up rsv has a balance shaft in the motor, which may make it act different under low rpm load, but I'm not sure. Later, Scooter Bob

Carb sync, book says every 4k miles. Checking cylinders, carefully check temp of all the exhaust pipes where they exit the heads. Later, Scooter Bob

I don't know how many miles you have on the Metzlers, but the reason I switched from them is the scalloped look and noise in the corners from the rear after about 10k miles. From my experience, the Avons run more miles, and look fairly round faced, and stay quiet all through the life span, which for me seems to be around 18k miles. Just my , Scooter Bob

What, no Victory Dealership??

I have to agree with the Boss here, at least they tried to help. Most shops don't seem to understand that for some of us, not having a bike on a sunny day, any sunny day, is a BIG PROBLEM. There's just too many out there that think it's just no big deal to drop a bike off and wait a week for an oil change. Just my , Scooter Bob

Ya, but the NEW bike comes with the warranty. Of course that was only good for one ignition coil and one rear shock at 65,000 miles, so that probably didn't cover the depreciation. I've bought a 2005 Midnite new, currently at 81,500 miles, and runs like a top. I figure I'll run this one over 100,000 (just to say I did), and then maybe start looking at new ones again. Hopefully the Venture will be FI by then. Later, Scooter Bob

Oops, I missed that part about them putting on some other coil, and then going to put the right one on next week. When you get the right one on there, and you know it's running on all four again (but not quite right), put her on the train under the channel, then ride her down to the AutoBahn and then run her hard and fast for a while to get those rings seated again, and all could be well on the ride back to the train. And keep those carbs synced, you got your own meter? I used to sync mine every 10,000 or so, but did it several time when that cylinder was weak. Once that cylinder sealed back up, milage came up instantly, and back to routine carb sync frequency. Good Luck, Scooter Bob

As far as not running quite right after coil replacement, I had that same issue a little over a year ago. Right rear coil died, and I rode it ten miles home to diagnose, and another 30 to the dealer to replace #3 coil under warranty. Didn't run quite right for a thousand miles or so after, and crappy fuel milage. I figured that running it with just raw fuel pumping in and out for 40 miles washed out the cylinder and screwed up the ring seal. I had done a hard run (70 mph for about 40 miles) getting around Minneapolis, and all the sudden it felt fine again. I think it finally broke in that cylinder seal again, and it's been fine now for another 16,000 miles. For what it's worth, Scooter Bob

I think it's new, seems I saw a thread about ordering it a few days ago. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58822

It may be certain models of Brickstones. The rear that comes stock on the RSV is only good for 6-7k miles before the tread is gone. However, I ran the front one to about 20k miles. I've since run 3 Metzler ME880's off the back (about 14-15k miles on each) and almost done with my second Avon AM42 (about 16k on the first one and changed out with a couple k left in it, and currently 16k on the second one with a couple k left also). After the front bridgestone, I ran 2 metzlers (about 20k each), and currently on my first front Avon AM41 130 wide (20k on it with a couple k left).

Just ordered a set from Jake Wilson. I usually use Dennis kirk, but I thought i'd give these guys a shot. The two tires and rear pads cost $300.97, free shipping. Dennis Kirk was $317, and they have a $5 each handling charge for the tire boxes, so I saved $27 total. Then I'll send in the rebate and use the $50 to buy the fuel to put the first 500 miles on them. I clicked on the Banner at the top of the site to get to JW, I think i read that VR gets some kind of cudos for that. Later, Scooter Bob

I put on a 130 front end of Feb last year, still good after about 20k miles. I put a rear on in May last year, still good after about 16k miles, probably got a thou or two left on the tread. I'll gladly order another set real soon, what with the rebate I read about. Just my , Scooter Bob

I don't have the website in front of me right now, but, I believe you can click on the "quick links" button in the lower title bar and choose to view a list of your "subscribed thread". That's why I thought you subscribed to it. Later, Scooter Bob

In case you didn't know, there is a button called "Thread Tools" at the top of every thread. If you click on it, you can then click on "subscribe", and be subscribed without having to post to it. (if that's why you posted) Later, Scooter Bob
