You should build a trailer to pull behind yer bike. The current target is... A pic of you and your bike and an outhouse, or port-a-potty, or honeyhut, or whatever you call a place to poop not inside in your neck of the woods. by Scooter Bob

Here's another thread with some U.P. info in it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61470

Anybody? Every construction site has one, and most every town festival and fair. Karen and I are leaving this morning for a week of puttin' around in Northern WI, and sure could use a new target. Later, Scooter Bob

Ya that! I wasn't quite sure if my back could handle a couple 600 mile days back to back for the trip to Cody, but we had the time off scheduled. We're just gonna head to Northern WI and bum around for a week or so and see some of the waterfalls and such. Countin' on the "cooler by the lake" thing. Have a great trip, Scooter Bob

Here I lay in a hospital bed waiting for surgery
Scooter Bob replied to dingy's topic in Watering Hole
Best of luck Dingy! Ya, the back surgery is the easy part! I'm back to work in 5 weeks, and was moving fairly well almost right away! Hopefully all the vascular stuff works out OK. Get well soon, Scooter Bob -
Oh ya, that is sooo much fun to watch at bike game events, used to see somebody do that every year or two. Except they never realized they didn't have the kickstand down, and just picked it up and dropped it on the other side. Glad you got out of there OK, Scooter Bob

I just thought of a new target... A pic of you and your bike and an outhouse, or port-a-potty, or honeyhut, or whatever you call a place to poop not inside in your neck of the woods. Here's pics of what they call the LEGENDS class at the race track in Beaver Dam. This one is powered by a MC engine. Later, Scooter Bob

Thankfully, I had to go see my back surgeon for a follow up today. Drive my truck with AC for 80 miles, or ride the bike? I rode the bike, and have the pics to win the current target. But, we're having trouble thinking up a new target. Until we do, the contest is still open. Later, Scooter Bob The current target is: You, Your bike and a Race Car or race truck. I race car with a number or sponsor on it. NOT just a everyday car someone takes to the drag strip sometimes. It CAN be one that is just used for display or advertising. by KarlS

Back to this second reply, I did carry an extra gallon on a trip to Vegas on my shovelhead back in 1999. I had heard about a stretch of interstate in Utah with 110 miles to the next fuel stop. I made it, two up pulling a trailer and never needed the extra fuel. I've been in damn near ever other state in this country since, and have never seen or needed to run that far without seeing a gas station. Just my , Scooter Bob

More crane pics...

That's yer own fault for taking so long to wear out that tire. And since this must be the first time you removed the bags, make sure you get the spacers and bushings back right. Once in a while one will fall out when moving the bags around the shop. I imagine they didn't know who could lift the bike up on the side of the road anyway.

And here's the big crane. I heard $20 million worth, only two in the country like it, can lift an 80 ton generator head over 250 feet in the air. 182 tons of counterweight on the back of this thing. This thing is awesome.

Here's the generator housing...

Here's some shots of the nose cone. I'll have to watch one of these in operation. The farmer says the blade at the bottom changes pitch when it passes by the tower.
-
Here's some pics of tower sections, inside and out.
-
The farmer that is getting 6 of these took us on a tour. What a sight this stuff is close up. Here's some pics of blades...
-
Wow, that is spooky. So, we went back this evening, and see they got the nose cone on this afternoon, and one blade. And then the fun began...
-
Do you havee to pay that $57 to check out the vendors?? I'm only 45 minutes north of there, might want to run down for a few hours.
-
So, by noon today, they had set 3 tower sections and the powerhouse. Had to leave then, but I may check back this evening and see how far they got. The wind picked up a bit, so I'm not sure if they got to install any blades yet. I did talk to the farmer owns the land they are building on right now. He says if we go over this evening after the crews have left, we can ride out with him to "check on the crops" May get some close up pics of the next build site, and maybe that big crane. I'll try to stay on his good side, and maybe I can sit in his yard when they put up this one right next to him. Later, Scooter Bob

It took a half an hour to rig the powerhouse, then lift it a bit and do a little work on the underside. Then about another 20 minutes or so to do the lift.
-
Ooh, Ooh, Ooh! I think this is it. It took a half an hour to bolt the third section on and unhook. Then they hoisted up a bunch of parts. Now they've rigged to this contraption and are headed for the powerhouse! Later, Scooter Bob
-
Wow, less than a 10 minute job, once they started hoisting, turned vertical, unrigged second crane, till the tower section was in place. Later, Scooter Bob

Got over here too late again. Since last report, they have put up another entire unit. This morning they have put up two tower sections, with one more to go on another site. Hopefully I can see the third section and the powerhouse go up yet this morning! Pics to follow this afternoon! Later, Scooter Bob
