  1. That's nice. I put this rig together a couple of years ago. http://photos.imageevent.com/greenagain/fj1200/websize/mar07%20008.jpg
  2. I'm a Venture n00b, and I in addition to rebuilding both clutch cylinders along with Rotella T, and I have the High rpm slip too. I still haven't lowered my reservoir amount, which is the cheapest attempted fix so I'll do that first, before trying to change oils or clutch springs.
  3. There is a thread or post somewhere in which someone went into quite a lot of detail on updating, and brightening bulbs without going to LED's. It's worth finding. If I remember correctly just changing to a different model bulb increased brightness about 25%.
  4. Thanks for th update. You can definitely count me in for a set.
  5. BUMP:nanner:
  6. bump. Any update on new cables? It's starting to warm up here.
  7. Thanks for the input. The connectors are not the same, but I didn't want to hack anything up until I knew for sure.
  8. I have a question about the sensor battery. My bike's battery has the sensor, but it's not hooked up. I found an unused wire nearby- it's White, with a pink, or purple stripe. Is that the right wire for the sensor to be connected to?

    Lifts

I have a couple of PitBull wheel lifts, and they are bar none the best quality ones out there.
  10. 1st gen bikes don't have an AUX jack, only the cassette player.
  11. Man I'm jealous. As a 1st gen owner I wish I could join the Darkside!!!
  12. IF you google " left handed screw " you'll get 120,000 hits. Here's a link to a list of companies making left handed screws. http://www.thomasnet.com/products/lefthand-screws-72660350-1.html IF it were me I'd try and verify it's sizing by matching the left side ( right handed thread ), and them contact one of the companies listed.
  13. The P.O. did a good of chewing it up, but it'll make a good temporary screw till you get a replacement. There are a number of specialty screw and hardware companies around that make Left handed screws. Other than that I think it's a standard 10m thread. The left side one is still being used to hold my CB radio controls.
  14. Looks like there is a shooting match ! I got them off of the Venture that I'm riding. I'm happy with a little less chrome, so I pulled them off.
  15. Yes. I have an 88 also.
  16. I'd don't know if I'm breaking a rule here, but I wanted to mention that I have a small pile of 1st gen body parts for sale. This a link to them here: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/bikerider-sales__W0QQ_armrsZ1
  17. I'm a new owner of an 88 and my clutch was the same as yours when I bought it- soggy of lever, and empty of reservoir. I first rebuilt the master cyl, and it still didn't work, so I rebuilt the slave. The cheapest I could find a replacement for was $ 65. Mine looked pretty good and the new seals seem to work fine. In regards to squirting fluid upwards, I use a big 6 inch syringe that I picked up at a Medical Supply store.
  18. Count me in. I'm a new owner of an 88 here in SoCal, and it's already struggling to restart when warm. I'd hate to see what it's like in July.
  19. $36 is too much, but I didn't even know that one was available separately. I need one too.
  20. Ahhhhhh. I just rebuilt my master cylinder, and before removing the slave I managed to round out one of the allen bolts. After a lot of tool chasing to be able to drill so deeply, and hold an easy-out, 2 drill, and tries with the easy-out and I finally got it out!!!!!! Yay me. Now I'm resting up, and re-reading the removal tips.
  21. Being brand new with this bike, my rear brake reservoir looks to be pretty inacessible, with the lid being hard to remove. I can see that 'fill-hole' is pretty useful. How do I gauge it and not overfill it? Thanks.
  22. I've used Rotella T in a number of bikes, and never had any ill effects.
  23. I don't know for sure, but I recently got AntiVirus 2009, and was successful eliminating it with Malwarebytes.
  24. Flitz metal polish, and very fine steel wool works great for me.
