I know about the wind. If you go towards the bottom of my homepage you will see a link for Last Ride of 2006 Diary. Yup, found some wind that fall. http://www.barrowfamily.barrowroad.com/

I put the bike up on the wonderful stand that Larry built, and started to clean, tighten and check it out before the first ride of the year, (had to dig a bit of snow drift out of the way to get it out of the shed). What did I find but cracked sidewalls on a virtually new tire. The rear tire was installed last May and only had 5000 miles on it. Well, Peter H. here on this site had the Avon reps email. (Thanks Peter!) I sent some pic's to the rep and he said don't ride unless slow to the dealer, and then have them check it out also. Dealer found some slight cracking on the front tire also, was figuring on getting a new front this spring anyways, but Avon is warranting both tires and paying $93.50 towards mount and balancing them... Would not say I am coming out smelling like a rose, as that would be a stretch right after a shower!!! lol, but am a really happy Avon user right now!! Here is my homepage with a picture of the tire: http://www.barrowfamily.barrowroad.com/ :cool10::cool10:

Back in the late 60's I was riding my yamaha 350, (?), without a helmet and had a bumble bee hit me square between the eyes. I was only doing about 30 mph. It rolled me right off the back of the bike. How I did not hit my head on the pavement I don't know, but wrecked my jacket and the bike rolled down into the barrowpit and came to a gentle stop leaning almost upright. Couple years later I hit a preacher..... he ran a stop sign and I ran into his right rear door on the stationwagon. I was only going about 20 mph and stopping when I saw him. Jump just as I hit him and flew over the top catching the buttons on my jacket and popping them off. Luckily I landed on my head, (was wearing a helmet that time!). Went to school next day, but woke up 2 days later in the hospital.... they said I started to act weirder than normal in school.... concussion or some such thing. Bike was fixed up and sold.... my brother tracked it down a few years ago and is fixing it up. Hit a house cat on my RoadStar on the way to Stardays in Ogden a few years ago. De-capitated it with my floor board. By the time I got to Ogden I did not have any rear brakes.... bled them out, worked fine. Must have got a bubble in the lines. Had a bald eagle fly up from a dead deer in the ditch this spring...... You wont believe how much poop one of those birds can drop trying to get some more air!!! I was ducking low but forgot to lower the windshield and he barely clipped it with a talon..... yup, pretty sharp and large up close! Came over a hill on my Suzuki RE5, (rotary engine, sold it years ago when starting to raise family... would trade most of the family for the bike today:)), stopped in the middle of a herd of deer. Never touched them with the bike, but got kicked in the arm by one as she took off. that hurt a bit. Was riding along a golf course a few years ago watching these guys and his little white ball sailing into the air..... yup, still have the helmet with the ding in it from where it hit me. Hit a coyote last fall in WY. Night time and he was in my lane watching a semi coming from the other direction..... I slowed to a stop about 3 feet from him and he did not know I was there..... semi got close and I bumped him with my front tire..... he zigged when he should have zagged and became road pizza. Sure had a suprised look for a second tho....

Wow! I have stayed in motels that were not as nice as that Bunkhouse camper!! The wife and I are looking at riding the AlCan to Alaska either next year or the year after. This trailer would be perfect! Sounds like good brakes for it also. I like to camp out, but usually take a tent and airmattress on the passenger seat, (wife rides her own bike). But this set up would be great! Motels are getting pretty expensive, went to StarDayz in St Joe a couple years ago, were on the road for 14 days and motels every night..... over $2000 for just rooms. Maybe with a nicer setup like the Bunkhouse, the wife might go for camping a bit more! Found a few links for trailers. http://www.kamparoo.com/ http://www.travelizmo.com/archives/000712.html http://www.compacttrailers.com/ http://www.pintsizetrailers.com/ http://www.roadmancampers.com/ http://www.wikco.com/timeout1.html I think that the Bunkhouse is by far the best looking and largest one out there.... would fit a couple better that want more space... (after 27 years of marriage, space is nice..... lol)

RandyA: I had a roadstar before my RSMV and went through a variety of tires with it. Dunlops I was not impressed with, ME880''s I was very impressed with. Same here tho, two rear tires to one front. that seems to be normal with me. Has been that way on almost every bike I have had in the past 35 years. Switched to the Avons at 11,000 miles last spring on the RSMV, (stock tires were not doing well at that point, something about metal coming through the rubber?), and it was like a new bike! Will stick with them for awhile.

Just replaced my rear tire, Avon Venom. I am sure I could have gotten another 800 - 1000 miles out of it, but was getting the bike serviced and $32.50 for tire change was a good price. How many miles? 13,800 miles, even the chicken strips had some good wear on them. I found the Avons handle so much better that I do spend more time cornering...

Battery Questions Odyssey or Dekka ?
Geezrr replied to Ramblingman's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I just put my new Odyssey battery in right out of the box and it works like a charm! Bought it from GMan and he sent it priority mail.... Great price and fast delivery! -
Thumper, glad you enjoyed Going to the Sun Hwy.... I must admit it is a beautiful ride! I am a bit biased as I live on the west side of the Park and buy season passes each year so we can cruise up to Logan Pass in the evening after work. Dennis

Maps???? Who needs stinkin' maps??? Actually, I was thinking the same about a visor organizer and velcro. Have not done anything yet tho. My wife got me a trunk bag from CruiserCustomizing for anniversary and have used it because of pockets on the sides.
