I basket no good!!!!!
TEW47 replied to Silver Bullet's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The " I" basket didn't mine either. After several thousand miles it is just as loud as before. It seems to me there is two different nosies. Put a set of ultra Classit mufflers on and it did help to block out the noise. tew47 -
Rode from Semmes,Al to Butler,AL for a dinner ride today. About 275 miles and averaged 45MPG. First tank after putting on HD mufflers. The sound is just right, almost snough to drown outn the gear whine. It was 34 when we left. tew47

From what I've heard they are good campers. A friend of mine used to pull his with a 600cc BMW. So yes the RSV is plenty bit enough to pull almost any trailer. tew47

I forgot something in last post. I played Santa for two hours Sat. morning from eight to ten for about 50 kids. By the end I had to take pain pills. It sure was hard getting in and out of the car. tew47

Well this Sunday after sugery. Friday night I could not sleep because of pain and tripping out from morphine. I got a good night sleep last nite. Was able to take a shower and my stickes started bleeding. My wife had just ordered PRO QR to stop bleeding because I take cumidin and the lest little cut I bleed alot, I would have had to go to the hospital. Things seem to happen in threes. My truck won't start, air conditioning unit out and the drain lines for the kitchen and bath are stopped up. Hope that's all that goes wrong. tew47

I had knee sugery today to repair torn cartilage in my right knee and remove a bone chip on the kneecap. Everything went real good. They gave me a shot of morphine and I was tripping out all day till tonight and now it does hurt. Maybe the pain will ease up tomorrow. I am glad to have it over with and in a few weeks will be back to normial, for me that is. tew47

I live in Mobile and you will going by about 20 miles from my house. I you have time give me a call too and I will meet you for coffee. I will be having knee sugery on the 19th and won't be out and about for a few days. Be careful approching the I10 tunel, stay in the left lane because of merging traffic, sharp curve to the right. tew47

DECEMBER 27: Corner of Al 225 and Al 59 . I65 N from Al 59 or I 65 N at Al 225 or Al 59 South from Al 21 at Uriah, Al. Stagecoach XII is set for Saturday, December 27th at the Stagecoach Café in Stockton, Alabama around lunch time. Y'all are invited to ride down to lower Alabama and enjoy some tire kicking, tall tales, and good southern cooking provided by the friendly staff at the Stagecoach Café. There is no fee for the event, but you will need to pay for your meal and reward the friendly wait staff for their hard work. Along with the socializing, we will have four awards that will be presented to riders. The awards will be presented around 12:30 and you must be present to claim it. LONGEST DISTANCE We want to encourage long distance motorcycle riding, so there will be an award plaque for the rider that rides the longest distance on a motorcycle to the event. This is the mileage that you have ridden on the way to the Stagecoach Café since you left home. If the mileage that you claim is sorta hard to believe, be prepared to back it up with IBA type receipts. Note: The amazing Mr. Doug Graves has ridden to south Alabama from Washington state in the great NorthWet to claim this award (and participate in the tire kicking, tall tales, and good southern cooking) on a number of occasions, so if he is planning to attend this year, the rest of y'all will have your work cut out for you. OLDEST RIDER We want to encourage folks to keep riding motorcycles, so there will be a plaque for the oldest rider that RIDES a MOTORCYCLE to the event. Note: Folks on trikes are most welcome to attend, but they are not eligible for this award. OLDEST BIKE We want to encourage keeping old bikes running and on the road, so there will be a plaque for the oldest bike RIDDEN to the event. There have been some great old bikes win this award in the past. Note: riding to the event does not include trailering to the lot across the street, unloading, and riding in to the parking lot. Just saying... YOUNGEST RIDER We want to encourage new riders to learn to enjoy two wheeled adventures, so there will be a plaque for the youngest rider to RIDE to the event. NOTE: passengers are NOT eligible to win this plaque ... because we know some of y'all are sorta competitive and we don't want to see anyone strapping a newborn baby seat on their luggage rack. There is no website this year, so please pass the word and let your local riding groups know about it. Folks will be arriving during the morning and the parking lot is usually empty by 2:00 PM. The food is good, the folks are friendly, and the weather can be sorta iffy. Some years it has been really cold, some years it has been warm, but either way we hope to see y'all there. TEW47

A friend of mine gave me a set of mufflers off his '08 Electro Glide which he had drilled out. I made the brackets and put them on. WOW, do they sound good. It seems like the bike has alot more HP,and no poping or backfires at all. I now just have to get the chrome exhaust clamps. I'm a happy camper. I also got the gloves from Cabela's and they are warm but the deer skin is kind of slick making it a little harder to hold the grips. tew47:301:

I learned how to fix Ymaha rear end whine
TEW47 replied to JerryK's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Went by the local dealer yesterday and told him I had pulled the drive shaft to grease it and about the gap between the hub and drive shaft housing. He said since I did the work he didn't know if I assemblyed it right a may not be covered by warranty! All because I did preventive maintenance. I have been working on my own bikes before he was born. tew47 -
I learned how to fix Ymaha rear end whine
TEW47 replied to JerryK's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Pulled the drive shaft a few weeks ago and I noticed when I left the four bolts loose and put the shaft back in there was about 1/8 " or better gap between rear hub and shaft housing. The gear on the end of the shaft had wear marks, real shiny, like it was wearing fast. I then pulled the axle and tighen the four lhub bolts and tried to put the axle back in. Had to take a hammer to the axle to get it started and findly through the hub. Any suggestions on what to do? tew47 -
If you have a bench grinder you can make a 45 degree on the end of the shaft. Just grind off enough to make it slide in the ujoint easy. There is about one inch of shaft before you get to the splines. Be sure to clean it up and put the Honda moly 60 on the splines and gear on the other end. tew47

Last week I went to put on my winter jacket and found that I had expanded my wastline and could not zipup my jacket. So I wanted a new Tour Master trans.2. ;As I called around nobody had one. I called competition accessories and they were out too. But the sales said he had other jackets and the price was negotiable. Well he offered me a Fieldsheer Quattro in high Vis yellow for the same price as the Tour master, $152. I think I got a good deal. Also bought Calela's gore-tex Pinnacle glove for $50,in reviews a guy said he wore then in -25 degrees and his hands were warm. Glove is used in Alaska in dog sleigh racing. Hope they are as warm as they say. tew47

A friend of mine bought some ice fishing gloves and he says they are relly good at keeping our hands warm, have any of you tried them? tew47

Back in the '80s I rode in 0 degrees going to work. Like to have never got it started. It was cold. Couldn't blink my eyes. I had to work outside all day. Got caught at work one time and had to ride home after a 16 shift in the snow. tew47
