Now if you are going to harvest your own hay, you will need a baler, a hay rake, a hay mower (not a bush hog), and a lot larger tractor 60 HP would be a start. Don't forget the hay trailers, truck and forklift on tractor to load bales. You may be getting in over your head on this deal. You'd probably need 80 acres to break even. Now if you feed your own cattle you might get by with less acres, maybe 60 acres. You'll need a couple donkeys to protect the newborn calves, the ability to go out in any weather to pull a calf from it's mother due to breach or other issue. Have a good day!

Only if you get the Swisher brush cutter and that will run close two $2K. You can't leave the Swishers out in the elements since the decks will rot out. I have replaced two decks already on finish mowers @ $1100 ea.

There is no difference between the 9N, 2N, and early 8N. There was a two speed after market transmission in front of the main which really added to the PTO for running conveyors at 1000 rpm (which my old 2N has) but I only use it as a road gear. You can easily convert it to a 12V system. Love the old fords.

You need a tractor and bush hog, period. I have land and mowing weekly with my 60" Toro or my twin 60" Swisher trail mowers will do fine. But I bought a 60" bush hog for some of my back land and only mow it a few times per year. No yard mower will cut two months worth of grass. A bush hog will do the job with a good tractor. My tractor is a 1946 Ford 2N and can be found for around $2000 and a 60" bush hog can be found for $200-300.

There you go Puc, looking for something sinister in my post and settling on wanting to see my beach attire. The only reason I made the post was to rub your nose in our beautiful mountain riding weather. And that is what I will be doing this weekend, the whole weekend and maybe into next week , so there (nana nana booboo). But come this summer I may take a trip to Michigan to cool down a bit.

Granted it was mostly tall onions and purple scourge but some was grass. I did this to get rid of leaves and small limb debris. I then cut down my pampas grass bushes and rose bushes and Crepe Myrtils for healthy spring growth. Beautiful day here.
