Originally from Omaha, Nebraska was an open carry state. And I never filled out papers for purchase. If you carried concealed in Omaha it required the city police to visually identify the weapon and record the serial number but don't substitute a weapon .
Good one Puc, Same way I assess my tires other than a check before riding with a good gauge. I am so old school that just this morning I bought a self darkening welding mask, my first ever. Never trusted them:backinmyday: but my thirty five year old one fell off the shelf and committed suicide . And my eyes don't work like they used to so being able to see the electrode is good.
I have no idea if Carbon One's products would fit the new Ventures, in fact looking at the pix posted I seriously doubt it. If someone as sharp as him thought about it, something might come up.
This all sounds like the beginning of the 2nd gen Venture. All sorts of using hockey pucks, 2X4s, shims and Voodoo to lift them. Carbonone came up with solid engineering to handle this problem and I use his products often in my shop.
I use construction grade fuel cans in 5 gallon size, they are metal cans and come with a funnel that fits over the spout. You can dump the can fast. Tractor Supply sells them but charge for the funnel or go to a construction supply company (Sun Belt Rental is the one I used).
I have the tall Clearview with vent. Also I have a short dark screen that I used to change out when riding solo. I love the Cleaview so much that I don't change anymore, just open the vent.
Now this is a good thread, especially for a geezer:backinmyday: that doesn't want to move the light bar again. There was an extension marketed years back but I did not see the need or expense at that time .
Have you looked at the Indian? I like them other than they are air cooled and I love the balance and throttle response. At my age keeping my 02 running is enough for me. If I were to get a "new" bike it would be the Indian Scout and it is water cooled.
Listened to Puc describe balancing beads with lots of touring information added. Love to hear him talk of touring adventures:clap2:.
Put the Dyna Beads in last night and put the mufflers back on today (pacing myself in old age:backinmyday:). Will work on sync tomorrow since rain is coming in late tonight and staying through Tuesday. Got a new set of NKG plugs to install per Cowpuc, so if sync is good then they will be put in along with wire trimming.
Duhhh, don't know what I was thinking:confused24:. You are absolutely correct. And I have done this in the past but when the tire was off the bike, just to get the little buggers down the tube:happy65:. I used a blow gun on the air hose and gave it just a touch and down they went.
Thanks for shocking me into reality, slowroll.
You are 100% correct Mr. Fool. I put a fan cooled one in my Venture and after all adjusting is done the low beam is OK but the high beam is just for squirrel hunting.
Got the new shoes on today (Shinko 777s) remounted wheels on bike but did not add "dyna beads" since my stash was empty. Will order from Amazon tonight through my wife's Prime account and get them Friday. Will probably have to remove rear tire due to 90* valve stem, but the front should be good. Then maybe this weekend I can get to tuning the carbs again. That will be the end of work on it other than washing for the summer anyway. Trips to Freebird's MD and to Asheville in August plus rides with my buddies locally.
Put all new NKG in last fall when winterizing. Carbs were rebuilt last year and sync completed. Bike ran great. I had it out in March and all was good. Will keep this in mind though, thanks Puc. You are one of the members I listen to.
If you have one in your area try Just Batteries. The company I work for uses them exclusively for all our vehicles including the big diesel haul trucks and diesel F250s, F350s, F450s, F550s, F750s, 2500 and 3500 Chevys.
Sylvester is on the lift and wheel removal has begun. I need to re-sync the carbs due to a rough engine after I started it yesterday. If the carbs are still in sync, the equipment manager where I work has done a lot of work on Yamaha engines and told me that it could be high speed jets that need tweeking. That being said I think the new Shinko tires will be on Wednesday. All other service is complete. Looking forward to Freebird's MD.
