OH! The Irony! or The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men
Sylvester replied to luvmy40's topic in Watering Hole
I put the 1.5" pucks on the front of my F150 4x4 and it is level now. Never had a problem with the rear. But the 4x4 has its own dynamiccs over the 2x4s. Good post Richard. -
Happy for you, Richard. Scarry but exciting and I know you are up to it. Hope to see you at MD this summer.

Fool, I have had a Bosch hammer drill for over twenty years and it is indestructable. I use it a couple times a year but earlier I used it weekly. Even the tools have survived.

Seems odd that you mentioned the magazines since I just ordered two yesterday. Got to check the house for video or listening bugs. One of the two that came with the gun used, doesn't drop out and needs a tug on it. I purchaced the gun used from a serious target shooter and it has lots of miles on it but looks new. He had it set up for steel plates for speed shooting. Happy that Ruger honored the warranty.

Yea swim to Fools pad and get it right. I have rails on my MK III and they are nice. Have a red dot for it but haven't sighted it yet. Still getting the jamming issues corrected. Ruger did pretty good on it after replacing firing pin swivel and ejector. Shot 140 rnds through it yesterday with one jam. That was with the Winchester Super X. The Federal copper plated ran flawless. I will pick up some CCI mini mags soon and probably Remington gold. I will shoot the rest of the Winchester or maybe keep it for my Ruger SR22. I am waiting on the quote for the dovetail milling but probably $120 +/-. Other option is a slide change but that would probably cost much more.

Sooo what's the latest? Have much interest in your project.

Now that is cool stuff you old gun toting, bike riding, and probably feeble minded (like me) fellow. Like to put one on my custom AK47. Have ordered the Wilson Combat threaded barell with and sights for my R1 and the recoil springs you turned me on to. Again thanks. Took the slide to my smith to have the dove tails re-cut to fit the Novak sights. Remington uses the old 1911 narrow cuts. Going with tritium front and plain rear adjustable. Shooting is such fun and very relaxing.

I'd vote for you just because of the card.

Thanks Puc, those are good links. I will order them. I have not been much of a tuner per say, but a shooter. The leagues I shoot in have one thing in common, for the majority of the members they use one smith. Tommy Abernathy runs a gun shop called "Tommy Guns" and he builds race guns and customs. He has done my work. That is why I am using the Remington for my trials, since I now have time to do it and the R1 doesn't have a $2000 + value. PS: Wife knows nothing about my guns and that is the way it will stay.

Alright Puc, your "frozen in the house" posts have got me spending money. Decided to upgrade one of my 1911 pistols. Chose the Remington R1 in its stock form for the custom work. Checking out Ed Brown, Wilson Combat and Storm Lake match barrels. May go with a threaded barrel. Will install adjustable rear sights and front if needed. Have had this weapon since Remington first announced them and it handles well but consistent shot placement has been an issue. Not an age thing since others who have shot it agree. Nothing like my two matched Colt Government Enhanced which were dead on out of the box. Have thought about this work for some time and your rachet jawing videos pushed me over the edge. Will also look into recoil springs per your previous reply on a different post. Can get a 16 lb. spring, that ought to send that spent casing into the next county. This will save policing the area.

I like the feet forward design. That kept me away from the earlier CanAms. My knees lock up in the peg style bikes. Road Brit bikes during the sixties and early seventies but that was 45 years ago and this old body can't take it. Worth looking at. Thanks for the post.

See, that is what I posted about. Scoundrills associating good "God Fearing" folk with sub-canine adjectives. I feel it is time for a posse to be formed to round up these scoundrills and bring them to justice. And I am now characterized as "sneaky". What a low way to deal with one's adversaries. They are just sneaky. A God Fearing good folk.

Before I looked at your post VAZ I said to myself "JAIL". Since I know you associate with one scoundrill named Cowpuc, a known gunfighter around these parts, who also has a way of associating good folk with cur coyotes with broken ear cartilage. After reading the post I feel that the locomotor gives substance to my original thoughts. The locomotor pulled trains of cars which were destructive to the broken ear cartilage sub-canine. I rest my case, you are both scoundrills...and possibly descendants of Troglodytes.

I understand your frustrations on the .17. Not my cup of tea but have friends that love them. .22 mag. works very well for me and since I am retired I have to live with what I have. Back to my hunting...was raised and hunted Nebraska until 36 years old. Nebraska is range country and a shot at a white tail is either 200-300 yds (using a .30/06 accelerator, or if in what little tree stand area you hunt then my .45-70 worked well. Now I live in North Carolina which is covered in trees, therefore the 7.62x39 is great with 100 yd. shots a far shot. The .45-70 would work great but at my age the recoil and blast is more than I can take. Love your posts. Stay warm and keep healthy.

Sometimes I think the northern winters allow too much time for indoor foolery. On a note of your 100 rnd. double magazine, have you charged the rascal with ammo yet? I prefer the AK platform and have a 100 rnd. drum for it. Now that I have surpassed seven decades plus nearly three more years It is one heavy machine. But h3!! a forty rnd magazine is heavy too. I hunt with mine and only use a five rnd. magazine and that is very doable. Now granted the 7.65x39 round has more weight than the .223. Keep em coming my north central friend, it is good for the soul and mind. Hope your weather improves, it is 54 here today.

Need Places to stay for emergency trip north
Sylvester replied to bikerjohn's topic in Watering Hole
You are welcome John. Pleased to be able to offer a night at Casa de Dogs. -
I have a rotary hammer drill with attachments. Be glad to loan it to you IF you don't send snow this far south again this year. Kind of heavy with all the tools. Maybe cheaper to get what you need rather than pay freight.
