  1. I have been with the Gaurd for a few years now. The man with the real answers is BoomerCPO, he is a dual state captain. Talk with him.
  2. I have 104,xxx on my 02 Venture; the valves have never been adjusted. My mechanic has a 99 RSV with 185,xxx miles and has checked his four times-no adjustment needed.
  3. I ordered my clearview windshield on April 28th and have not received it yet (seven weeks). I did get a e-mail saying it will arrive this week. When I ordered it they told me three to five weeks.
  4. I sure learn a lot just reading what you post! I just changed my plugs and synced the carbs last month, and they look like the ones that are of interest to this post. I put back regular NGK plugs with proper gap since the old ones lasted 24,000mi.
  5. Now, I am one of all the rest of you! Nice to be part of something so informative.
  6. Still looking for my "supporting member" status. I know you're not finished yet, but it is like a kid going to the fair. I CAN'T WAIT!!! Sorry, I need a cup of coffee.
  7. And a lot safer!
  8. The Stratoliner is a fine machine...for those who like V-twins. I don't!!! I did not like my 99 Roadstar and the numerous Harleys I have owned. I love my 83 GW but I wore it out and got rid of it in 96. The Venture fills my needs and I have many years left in it. And for Randy's poll...I pick d and/or f
  9. The rumors started in 2005, and have been the same since. Also, the bike has been the same since. My 02 only has 104,000 miles, it was a great bike in 02 and it is a great bike in 09. It will be a great bike in 2010 or 2011, therefore whatever they come out with will have to be on the market for a while before I get an interest in it.
  10. I am assuming (from the majority of past posts) that you have pass lights on your ride. If so you need to put them on a relay. If not you have a factory defect. Nothing else I have ever heard of trashes the ingnition switch. Unless you are running multiple electrical powers off you switch.
  11. Thank you, I am a farmer again!
  12. I use the smiley that has the farmer hat and wheat straw out of the mouth, since I have a mini farm and love the country. Many times I cannot find it, and sometimes if I keep scrolling up and down it will appear. Is there some magic to the system? No smiley to post!
  13. Like Perm44 said, the rubber mallet works great. Just work around back and forth and they come off. I did as another on this forum suggested and sanded mine down and painted with satin black paint. They look great and no more flaking.
  14. Are you sure you didn't have the air go out? My Venture lost the rear shock a couple years back and I was on a pogo stick for 150 miles to get back home. It was not something your could not tell a big difference.
  15. Ditto from me.
  16. Man, You did good!
  17. Why worry? My fan has only come on once and that was while idling in the hot afternoon. When you are riding they hardly ever come on. My 81 Goldwing was the same way.
  18. My maps are all motorcycle. My first real road trip was 1965 from Omaha to Denver on a Honda 305. I sure felt like the "King of the Road" and it would do 62mph with a wind behind you.
  19. I have some affinity to what 5bikes says. The early wings were very dependable-if they were maintained properly. After that they really could be a pain in the a**. I just sold a very respectable 81 GW Interstate that was very well maintained for the most part. I can't say that the Wings are slower since I had the 81' over 100 mph, but they do require more disciplined maintenance. My cents worth!
  20. Avoid the Metzler tire, I run Dunlop D404 on my machine but plan on going to the Dunlop E3 when the time arises. The Michelin Commader is very highly rated.
  21. If you find the buddy to go in halfs with, how are you going to mount it?
  22. There are two one legged riders in our vicicnity. One rides with Star Touring and Riding Assc.and the other is with HOG. Both do very well without any sign of problems.
  23. JUST GET ON IT AND RIDE LIKE YOU ARE STEVE McQUEEN! You will get the feel of it like all of us have. I have owned thirty+ bikes over fifty years and every darn one of them rode diffferent. If you don't like the machine, post it here. It will sell quick!
  24. It is very hard for me to refuse a sweet deal like this. What a sales promo?
  25. BUB's rock. Nothing but the best!
