My wife and I are planning a 4000 nile trip for early July.. So I thought I would Do a conditioning ride. LOL. Its as good of an excuse as any. I have to deliver some heavy car parts (axles)to a Soldier in Fayetteville NC. So I have made a trailer that's up to the task and plan to leave NH around the 20th of June. My plan is to haul ass straight down to drop the parts... Then take as much time as needed to drive home and Site seeing along the way. My Routes are open to suggestions. Anybody up for a ride or to meet along the way? I plan to Tent it for lodging... But certainly wouldn't turn down a warm bed. I will be traveling alone. I haven't even began to pick a route yet... I will drive mostly Freeways going down... but prefer 2 lanes for the return trip. Running back roads I usually do 2-400 miles aday. Depending on the road and the sites. I'm in no big rush at all. Being a School bus driver... Out for the summer. So... Anybody that could help me out... Or Join for a ride or... Or Sites to see? Drop me a line. My Schedule is Flexible... and so is my route. Anyone ever put a hypercharger on a 1100 vstar?
Reaney in NH replied to big mike's topic in Watering Hole
I'm not sure its the Hyper charger or just a better air flow going in. I did a home built intake on my V star.. Rejetted the carbs... and installed a good set of long shot pipes and it was a VERY good increase in power. I don't remember the details on Jet sizes .... But it was wort the effort for sure. -
Anyone ever put a hypercharger on a 1100 vstar?

Any changes to the intake or exhaust on a Vstar will require rejetting. With good pipes and the hyper charger and a proper REjet .. your friend will FEEL a great improvement. -
Already stated in an earlier post. I use the ST line at Walmart. High quality filter at a great cost. I've read several studies and I have cut them apart. The St line is as good as any and better then most.

The car filter will work fine... However.. I would not run a FRAM on my lawnmower. They are card board inside and have been known to come apart. The only good thing about Fram isw thier ad campaigns... the product is crap.

I too run this oil in my RSV and all my cars. Ran it in all my bikes for YEARS. I do about 6-8000 per oil change. Most of my bikes shifted smoother and the gear noise was less on this oil. I run a Walmart ST Filter... Don't remember the part number.

OK... I ordered a Garmin 2720 Last night along with the Ram mount and the Motorcycle mount kit. My Next question is... MUSIC... What is the best and most reasonable cost for a music storage device? MP3... I POD... Etc. I know Nothing about these devices... so please feel free to educate me as well. Last question... Once i have all these in my hands .... Will I need anything special to make it all work on the RSV. Thank you Reaney in NH

Thanks for the tips... I have a Refurb Garmin 2720 coming from Amazon.com for $107.00. Along with the Nec mounting hardware. :bang head:Next I will need to figure out how to run it before my brain turns to mush.

Please post your findings. Mine did almost the same thing on Sat after a rain storm. It still played but I could not adjust the volume for a cpl of hours. My bike is a 2001 RSV and way out of war.

Awesome info.... I'm really liking the Garmin 2720.... Sounds like it has the features I need. Thanks everybody Reaney in NH

I've decided to get a GPS for my RSV. My Budget is $200.00. What would be your choice is this price range and why? Best place to buy? I already own a Ram mount. Thanks for the Info. Reaney

has anyone ever bought directly from morgan carbtune?
Reaney in NH replied to big mike's topic in Watering Hole
I bought mine from them... Got a great deal and VERY fast service. I am very pleased. Reaney:thumbsup: -
Who'd a thought such a simple question would create a 4 page thread. It just proves that you people can create something out of almost nothing. Now I need to go spend some money and try these things out.

Thats the same company that runs the North American Fishing Club... They are CROOKS. :mo money:They got my Credit card number from a purchase and decided I needed to buy a stupid book every other month... then wouldn't accept them back or give refunds or cancel the membership. I ended up going to their home office in MInnetonka Mn and almost got arrested before they stopped their crap. BE CAREFUL

Awesome info:thumbsup:.... I will be looking at everything mentioned... Thank you

I too am a Brief man and they will get you real sore after several hours in the Saddle. I use the long briefs and they are better... but tend to be Warmer in warm weather. My Thoughts are to use some sort of wicking material... But I have no clue on whats available or recommended. The beads you mention are great and I do use them sometimes. So... Come on guys... What DO YOU WEAR?
-
I know it may be a odd subject... But I need to know. What do you guys wear for underwear on a long road trip? We are planning a 4000 mile ride this summer in early August thru the midwest. Its going to be HOT and sweat will be a problem. Cotton underwear just doesn't cut it. What do you recommended and why? Thank you

I am far from an expert on these bikes... But it sounds like your charging system is not working. Download the service manual and run thru the diagnostics for the Charging system.. checking the Stator and Voltage reg. Replacing a throttle cable is to be expected on a bike this old... as is the carb diaphrams. The bike is 22 years old and will requier some work to bring it up to the level you need for dependability. They are awesome bikes and well worth the effort. Good luck

My RSV came to me with Bubs pipes and they sound great. However ... after 3-400 miles they start to get annoying. Are the Road King pipes quieter? Perhaps I should consider finding some stock RSV Pipes? Anybody got a set lieing around collecting dust? Your Thoughts?

bub exhaust pipes
Reaney in NH replied to gunboat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I love my Bubs pipes. They sound great... without being obnoxious. My only complaint is the tips look like crap. Some day when I find the time ... I will remove the tips and head down to my local Harley Steeler and find some nice new tips. -
I want to send my seat to Rick for his mods... but I don't want to be without my bike for the 2weeks it will take. Does anybody have ANY kind of a seat I could borrow? I don't care if its beat and tatered.... as long as it will fit on my 2nd gen and hold my but off the frame. I would even consider buying a seat for a decent price. I will gladly pay the shiping costs for Priority mail both ways. Thank you Reaney in NH

I was only kidding. I figured it was something like that. I still remember when ALL Uhaul trailers said Top speed was 45MPH.

Stebel Compact Nautilus installation

http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-corner/reading/relay-diagram.gif Here is a Relay wiring Diagram. Terminal 87 of the Relay would go to the Horn Positive + side... the - side goes to Ground Plug your Factory Horn wires into Terminal 85 & 86 on the Relay Terminal 30 goes to Battery... best to fuse this wire. I mounted my horn in the same location as the stock horn. I simply made a small metal bracket to mount. I mounted my Relay under the seat behind the battery.
