Hello to all, I want to start searching and collecting parts to do some upgrades on my new to me 96 RSTC. What years and models of the Vmax have best cams and valve springs? are they all the same or are some better then others? 32mm carbs?? Vmax or RSV? what years have the 32mm? Are there any that are better to use? Thank you Reaney

Reaney in NH replied to Reaney in NH's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Very interested... How much Shipped to 03773? I dont need the Mufflers... Just the pipes please. I can fab any brackets needed. -
Thank you for all the responses. Throtle locks suck in new England... we are constantly going up or down hill.. no such thing as flat ground. I already own a Still in the BOX Audio Vox... Purchased for a friends Vulcan that got sold before installed. I think it will be an interesting project. I will try to document it as I go. I was hoping someone had already done it. But I'm sure I can figure it out.

I need a set of 4 into 2 Head pipes for my 96 RSTC I am wondering is the head pipes from the 1st gen ventures will bolt up? They are everywhere for cheap. I'm planning on Road King slip ons.... Does anybody happen to have a set of head pipes 4 into 2 available. Need not be perfect. I do know the Pipes from the RSV will work... already have ebay ob Auto Search for those,

Hey Guys, I just rejoined the Yamaha Royal star Family again after being away for a few years. my latest purchase is a very clean 100% stock 96 Royal Star Tour Classic with 24,000 old man miles on it. There is not a single Extra or anything modded... its exactly how it was shipped. OK.. now for my question. I need Cruise Control. I have wrist problem that gets very painfull holding a throttle more then about 40 mins at a time. For the last several years I have been riding Full dress Loaded touring bikes... Like a RSV , Goldwing, and my last bike a HD Ultra. Life changes made me get rid of the Payment on the HD.. so my choices were limited... it was either go without a bike... or buy something like the RSTC. I have in the past been successful using the Audio Vox CCS 100 electronic Cruise to a Kawasaki Vulcan... others have installed it on Valkeries, Road stars ETC. Has anybody done it on the Royal Star? Any info that will save me hours of trial and error? i know someone is going to say use a Throttle Lock... its a great option in the Midwest where roads are flat and straight... but in New England they are almost worthless. Thank you for any help you can offer.

You can buy a cheap scan tool for around $40.00 and scan it and get the codes... after it scans it 3 times it will reset the light. My Truck is a 01 Silverado and it gets a check eng light about 3-4 times a year. the code is an 0440... Its a selemoid that controls the evap canister. Its a Very common problem. With this code there are no ill effects of driving it with the light on. But someother codes can cause the computer to go into limp mode.. causing the truck to run rich and plug the converter. Best to get it checked asap.

Shinko front tire on 88 VR
Reaney in NH replied to Ndiaz's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I bought Front and Rear Shinkos from the Superstore mentioned above for my 2nd gen. Pair $130.00 Delivered. I now have about 700 miles on them and I am very pleased. They handle very well.. They don't track the grooves... they are quiet. Next is to see how they hold up over the long haul. For the money they will be tough to beat. -
Who Makes do it yourself Trike Kits??
Reaney in NH replied to Reaney in NH's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
I have seen the Voyager kits and I think they are great if you are looking for a removable conversion kit. For your application it sounds perfect. Personally I don't care for the way they look. If I go to a Trike... I want the real deal. Thank you for your input. -

Thanks for the info. I will prolly convert my bike.. however, I won't be doing it for at least a year or 2. In the mean time, I'm going to look for a wrecked trike... Maybe save some cash. Thank you -

My Research is coming up with the same info... Thank you -
I'm interested in converting my RSV to a trike. Who makes Kits that I can install at home? Beside Triwing and Voyager? Any input on things is appreciated.

My Bubs didn't pop at all... EVER!! Poping is usually caused by a leak. Its sucking air on decel.

A Leveling kit would RAISE the bike about an inch... it will improve handling... but in my case I wouldn't be able to touch the ground at all. Baron's makes a lowering kit.. it sells for around $175.00 online... easy to install. I found the bike to handle just fine with the kit. With the bike sitting lower I felt in much better control while sitting still.. or backing out of Garage or parking. With the lowering kit I was able to sit flat footed. Without the lowering kit and the front lowered.. The Balls of my feet touch on flat ground.. still better then stock... but not quite as low. Lowering the front is FREE.... Just labor involved. Honestly.. If I was to do it all over again.. I would have installed the lowering kit and called it good. Low speed turns were fine... Just drve to an emty parking lot and practice for a few minutes and you will be fine.

I lowered mine and experienced no problems at all. I did not experience the handling issues some talk about. It felt much more stable and I was able to put my feet flat on the ground. I have a short 30" inseam.. it helped alot. Another option that seemed to help alot is to lower the front about an inch. I lowered my Rear 1.25 in... Liked it.. Then lowered the front an inch.. Liked that even better except the Kick stand was to long... So rather then going thru all the work to raise the front back up... I chose to remove the rear kit... and that seems to work pretty well.. Not as low as the back was..but better then stock.

roadking muffs.
Reaney in NH replied to newventure's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just because it has a CAt .. does not mean it would restrict flow. A cat when clean wil flow just as good as the rest of the exhaust. Its my understanding that all of the new HD have a cat in one muffler... not sure which side tho. You can easily punch out the cat. -
I took my Kumho off after about 3000 Miles and went back to M/C tire. I just didn't like the way it handled. Hope it works better for you.

After nearly 20 years in the tire business... Just plug it and forget it. I've never seen a tire failure due to a properly installed plug. I carry plugs with me on all my vehicles and would not hesitate to plug any tire unless its a sidewall punture.
