Hey,Gary.Got my tool this week and it looks great!!Thanks for putting this project together for everyone.Herb.

Here is a simple and cheap setup I used on my 07 Tour Deluxe which does not come with 4 way flashers as the Venture does. http://roadstarclinic.com/content/view/13/103/ I put the toggle switch on the center cover[under the seat and directly behind engine]because that isn't removed as often as the left side cover and can still access the switch while seated.Just be sure to keep the switch low enough to clear the fuel pump.Hope this helps,Herb.

Money sent via Pay-Pal,thanks for putting this project together.Herb

Was just perusing e-bay and saw this listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-Yamaha-XVZ1300-Royal-Star-passengers-floorboards_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3ca9cf1b40QQitemZ260546960192QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories These are the good chrome boards with the sandwiched rubber, not the glued in strips.Includes mounts which could be re-sold[new ones list for $145.00 and are no longer avaible]With a $50.00 buy it now these won't last long if someone knows what they're looking at.Good luck,Herb

Star 4772,I bought my 2007 RSTD new right out of the crate for 10,900 from Xtreme Powersports in Powhaten,Ohio on May 31,2008.I've seen new RSTD's in the crate listed for as low as 9999.00 from e-bay retailers. For the price listed, you should be able to get a Venture, and I've seen Ventures listed for less.Usually the buy-it-now price is the price they want and won't sell till they get it.I had a very good buying experiance at Extreme, everthing went very smoothly.I would try to get a report on the dealer you want to deal with from someone who has dealt with them before.Once you decide on the bike you want and buy it, and enjoy it.There will always be better deals down the road, but if you like the bike you have you have, then its a deal that did'nt get away from you.Herb.

Put dyna beads or some other dynamic balancer in your tires both front and back.I had a bad wobble and tried adjusting pressure, tightening the tree bearings etc etc.Put in the dyna beads [2oz in front 4oz in back] problem solved. Can take the bike up to 110 and not a hint of a wobble or shake

Was at the local Yammie dealer today and asked why the RSTD isn't listed for 2010.Was told it's dead and gone and isn't coming back.Ditto for the Venture as soon as the V-Twin touring bike is ready. There are many chrome items no longer available and that situation is only going to get worse. If you have your heart set on :thumbdown:something, best get it while you can.Herb

The owner keeps a tarp over the cockpit to protect the electronics which covers most of the side panels. It does have a large top case{with a chrome luggage rack}.I am not that familiar with model differences to be of much help beyond that.I passed it for more than 2 months before I realized it was a Venture and figured if it hasn't sold by now, someone could get a good bargain.Herb. Just looked at the history page, and would have to say its a '83-'85 model judging by the saddlebag guards.

National Cycle makes hand guards for '05 on Tour Deluxe.I haven't looked closely enough at a Venture hand grip to know if there is any real difference. They were very easy to install, just remove mirrors, put bracket in place, reinstall mirors. They do a great job of keeping the direct wind off,and also deflecting rain.Good luck,Herb.

For anyone that might be interested, there is a real nice light brown 1st Gen thats been sitting out for sale since early summer. Its just outside Friendship,NY,and I've been going by it 6 times a week on my route. There isn't room to park my truck safely to get more information. If anyone wants to see it it,take Route 275 south out of Friendship about 1 mile on the left side.If you get to the hamlet of Nile, you missed it.As I would rather look cool than go fast,I have a 2nd Gen Royal Star, but for any speedy would-be reprobate 1st Gen'ers,it might be worth a look.Herb.

I was just going to look into getting something made, perfect timing letting us know you make replacements.I'll take a set in black.Pay pal on its way, thanks,Herb.

How to wire aux fuse block to existing wiring circuit?
hcdagen replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
SilverT,here is a link to very good directions on how to wire a relay controlled fuse block http://faq.ninja250.org/index.php?title=Installing_an_accessory_fuse_box&redirect=no&printable=yes I'm no genius when it comes to electrical stuff, but this page is makes it very understandable.Good luck and have fun.By the way ,I installed my fuse block under the seat on the plastic panel that encloses the battery.Herb. -
Kuryakyn ISO grips and end weights
hcdagen replied to Jethroish's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
If u use the cruise control,u should not rest your hand on the throttle. The cruise is a vacuum over mechanical control and putting pressure on the throttle tube will screw up your cruise settings. That is the reason for the extra long bar weights,to provide a hand rest that enables control of the handlebars.Show Chrome makes a grip that requires no modification. All that's needed are 2 longer bolts and some washers on the throttle side to keep it from binding -
Halfwit hope you don't mind slumming with at least 1 RSTD.

Passanger floorboard Qustion?
hcdagen replied to Cougar's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Cougar, all current production ['98 on Yamaha Stars ] floorboards will interchange with each other including the new Stratoliner boards. That being said, and as a fomer 1100 V Star owner, you will still need the accessory floorboard mounts to convert from pegs to boards.A word of caution, stay away from 2004 and earlier Chrome Billet boards because they have the glued in rubber strips that are impossible to keep on.Look for Billet boards with 4 screws in them, those boards can be split to replace the rubber. If you just want plain alum. boards, not an issue.Herb. -

A torque wrench is a a LOT cheaper than a Heli-coil kit.It is also much quicker to use than tearing everthing off the side of a bike so you can get at a stripped case bolt hole.Ask me why my 21 year old son no longer works on my bikes.

Hey Halfwit,if you can squeeze 1 more in,I'm looking foward to being there.Thanks,Herb.
