  8. Most furnaces within the last 7-8 years use what we call hot surface ignition. With that being said there is a sequence of operation that the unit goes thru. First thing that hapens on a call for heat(t-stat turned up for heat)is the inducer fan which is the fan that blows exhaust out the home has to come on. If the plastic flu pipe is not restricted with ice outside or inproper sloping back to the furnace and water colecting in the pipe there is a pressure switch that will not close. If pipe and fan are working one would assume the pressure switch makes when the inducer fan comes on. If thats all good after aprox 1 min or so you should see a red glow appere around the burners. That is the inginitor glowing. when ignitor gets good and warmed up a click will happen and the gas valve opens up. Burners should light and stay lit. If burners lite then goes out the flame sensor is dirty. The flame sensor is a steel rod that is at the other end of the burners from the ignitor. If flame goes out as soon as the lite the flame sensor needs to be pulled out and cleaned with steel wool. That is the very basic operation of 90% of the higher efficency gas furnaces. Good luck and like others said if your not really shure of whats happing you should call a repair man to be safe. Good luck and be safe. There are other saftey switchs involved and if any of those are bad the blower motor usually comes on and stays on with no heat.
  9. Prayers sent. WE will be thinking and wishing for a speedy recovery. Get Well!
  10. Thought i was allways going to be a HID fan after installing one in my 84. It wasen't a hard instal by any means. Put the switch and relay in just fine. The only dislike was the way the bulb just hang loose in its socket when not pulled into its socket for hi/lo beam. Well after just over a year and a half the bulb craped out. Every bulb i ever put into my bikes still works except the expensive HID. went back with the silverstar bulb i took out for the HID and am willing to bet it wont go bad at night in the rain like the HID did. In my opinion the HID is not ready for motorcycle use yet. They need to get the bugs worked out first. This is just one mans opinion.
  11. Thanks again Golf&Venture. Who says USmail service is slow? Package arived today on my porch. Whats that 2-3 days top's from WA to OH. Lubed cable speed-o cable bearing and wheel ass'y. Put it all back toghether and woooooo. i gots to slow way down. Hard to do on a first gen. Thats great because it looks like a trip to akron tomorrow to help one of my boys move back into college. Third year at university of akron and first one living off campus. I'm just supplying labor to this venture. So many thanks again..
  12. Thanks and i will check that. The speed-o was in good shape no bouncing or jumping around. Thats whats nuts. The cable had plenty of grease on it but i will check the guage just the same.
  13. Thanks Golf&Venture. PM sent. This is just one of the many many many reasons i belong to ventureriders.org. This is the best. Thanks.
  14. Help please. Me and Deb went for a ride to Pittsburgh PA sunday just to shop a little. On the way back the speed-o just quit. Looked in our classfied and at pinwall but just can"t seam to find one. Does anyone have a speedometer cable for my 84 venture royale around for a reasonable price. Me and Deb want to go to moundsville wv on the weekend of 8-24 to see the moveing wall come into town. Thanks Dan.
  15. Dear Don and Eileen. I think the feelings are mutual for all of us concerning maintenance day. And don't worry, I will be there next year. I will just leave the whole month of June "open". Dan and I just posted some photos of the day on the site. I got some good ones! We truly enjoyed the wknd and met some new people. I hope I didn't scare them away for next year. You and Eileen's hospitality, and generosity, is the best I've ever experienced. You are wonderful people that I am glad we met. Have a great vacation. Be safe. Deb
  16. Thanks Freebird!

  18. Wife drives a 2001 tj wrangler. Boy off in college drives the old 96 cherokee 2 dr sport with over 200000 on her. The jeeps are tried and true but i hate the ride and storrage area in the little tj and the ride is just like a go kart. I would never own one of those little wranglers again.
  19. Try the Heartland diner in Carolton for a great platefull of home cooking. Then drive around Attwood lake to new philly. Grab Rt 800 and ride down state thru Wayne Ntl forest. Great ride. You can come back up the Ohio river on Rt7 and take 22 back to tapan and bowerston. These are just some of our great rideing roads here in Ohio.
  20. Any one tried that adapator from din to 3.5 plug. Sounds like a cheep headset fix for anyone not so shure weather they want a headset or not?
  21. Freebird is rite my friend. You'll spend the $55. on glues, epoxys and different snake oils and never get it right. Don't ask how i know these things.
  22. Me and Deb will keep Dano in our prayers tonight.
  23. Lowes up this way sells a stanless heater. Pricey but it will be the last one you buy. The tankless ones are great but complacated, one service call can be half the price of the system. Good luck.
