  1. I went down to Ponce Inlet just south of Datona Beach and watched the lift off. Understand a million people at Cape Canaveral so I backed up to this location. It didn't last but a flash due to the clouds, but I WAS THERE........I looked all over but didn't see you.
  2. I feel as though I have posted this before, but just read it again. I'm off to Florida this Wednesday to see the last launching of our shuttle this Friday. I remember Sputnik; I hate it but I will find out if I'm too old for this long a ride. Wish me luck..........
  3. How did you find this so quickly? Anyway, thanks.
  4. I have been using my MP3 or radio on the bike...Installed the XM radio from Walmart and the payment of $11.07 per month ( I did have to pay $15 extra for something) and my 50s 60s 70s music plays 24/7. I highly recommend. I know some of the guys and gals have been enjoying this for a long time but at least I'm now on board.
  5. Last year a friend (still is) hit my right side saddle bag on my 2004 white venture r/s; I bought another one on this site and had it painted. Now this one has spider cracks and one bad crack at the rear. It has not been hit; don't know the problem but need another right side saddle bag. Anyone out there have one at a good price?
  6. I know I have asked some questions that probably seem very simple to some of you guys and gals, but I tell you; I have always been treated curtiously by everyone. I've gotten info and suggestions that have saved me big bucks and for that I am thankful. I have worked on something and have called back a few times before I finish the project just to confirm I'm doing it right, this at the other persons suggestion. Since all of us fall short and only one person has walked on water to my knowledge, I will give this group the benefit of the doubt and let it slide. Only once in all of my dealings have I been treated wrong, but I surely will not hold it against Venture Rider. One day I will get to meet the boss, and I look forward to it. Int the meantime, thanks for all you do for me,
  7. I believe Carbon 1 makes supports for front foot pegs for 2nd Gens. I looked in various threads and can't find his article. Can anyone help me with the post or tell me what state Carbon 1 resides in. Thanks.

    Smoking

I have not smoked for over 15 years (most difficult thing I have ever done), last fall I had to go to a specialist and discovered I have COPD. I cough, get up mucus, and do it again. Better than cancer but it aint fun. Throw those cigs away and bite the leather. Do it for yourself. One thing that helped me quit was using mentholated cough drops (sugar free). Every time I had to have a puff, I would put one those cough drops in and after a minute or two you are okay (for awhile). Good luck and hang in there.
  9. Been serving for a few years and it is an honor. We need all the volunteers we can get so sign up and get active.
  10. I suggest putting it off for a couple of months, then book flights into North Carolina. We can take care of you from there. Just suggest'n.
  11. Hello there sweetheart......don't know you but it looks like you sure do have a lot of VR friends. Add me to the list. I see you will be around the east coast in June; add Zebulon (just east of Raleigh) to your list. I have a room facing the lake ready and it would be an honor to have you spend a day or two around North Carolina. We are less than 25 minutes from I-95, 30 minutes from I-85, so if you're coming this way, put me on the list. That goes for you yankees that are coming south toward Florida. It's what being a part of the VR family is all about; don't be scared to ask.
  12. Don, you seem to be old enough to understand a few things.....and that is good. I agree with you that my venture rider extended family is something that I cherish; there are so many of us out there that have never met but I do feel we are close. I don't have the involvement that many of you have in this organization but it doesn't mean I don't appreciate you. To you and your family, I hope that your Christmas was one of the best and that the new year is going to be one of the best ever. And to my friends that I may or may not meet in the coming year, Happy New Year. And just in case you forget, I will be one year away from medicare this January 5th.
  13. I'm a little slow; is the headlight worth the $60 plus dollars (brightness and vision)? I can convince my bride about spending money on my bike if its a safety item and it looks like this fits my criteria. What about the smaller led lights; if I could wire these in the rear somewhere it looks like this should light me up pretty good. I do travel some at night as a PGR rider; don't like to do it but I get caught sometime. Thanks.
  14. From a fellow PGR, my prayers are with your friend and family.
  15. I have this phobia about hitting a deer with my RSV. A friend of mine hit one around 2pm in the early fall year before last and the result was short term coma, lost 75 lbs and nearly lost his life. The deer actually jumped and knocked him off his bike. Been scared ever since. Don't let your mind wonder; you've got the right horn and hopefully good brakes. Have a good one on me.
  16. Earl (SkyDoc) had been trying to sell me those "special calipers" for my bike, well I finally purchased his complete brake system and I must say fellows, it does make a difference and even though I questioned was it worth it before I bought the calipers and steel lines, I can tell you it is. My braking is soooooo much more smooth and yes, it will throw you into the windshield. Not trying to push this for SkyDoc, just passing along my experience.
  17. I ride my bike every week (2004 RSV); in the last couple of months my battery has lost juice and won't crank. As we speak I have it on low charge. Advance has checked the battery and says it just needs charging and nothing is wrong with the battery itself. The battery is two plus years old. Any ideas out there. When I crank up today I will have jumper cables with me but that ain't the solution.
  18. I ordered the front brake system from Skydoc and when it comes in I may need you adivce on how to install it. You can point and show me; that'l keep you out of the bars for a day. On a serious note, get well so we can ride, my friend.
  19. I'm sure you'll do just fine, but just in case you will be in my prayers tonight.
  20. I'm North Carolina....When the National site goes down I sometimes have to use the State webpage to check out missions. I don't remember signing up on the state site but maybe I had a senior moment and did. I have read the replies from fellow PG Riders and looks like we are all basically on the same page. I'm 63 and age seems to have affected my emotions; I shed tears at the drop of a hat, but I must say I'm not embarressed; the young ones are my kids and the older generations remind me I am probably not that far behind them. Glad to see so many that give their time and effort to support our soldiers; you know we get so much in return.
  21. Mine is in the paypal account. It's good that we help one another; some people "get it". Hope things go well-keep us up to date and let us know when he rides off.
  22. Come on guys.......we all know you want the newer models so you can ride instead of work on them. Why do all those upgrades when you can get them on the 2nd gen models. How ya doing Skydoc? And the writer is correct; you're a good yank.
  23. Just because you're laid up doesn't mean I can't drop by. As you know we have been trying to meet up for months; just hasn't happened. As soon as I can get fired from this Census thing I'll try to get to Vass again. It's a good ride and the deer don't jump out as bad going to your place.
  24. Got the address from Sky Doc; it www.carbtune.com and the cost with the pouch was just a little under $100 US. If Sky Doc recommends them, well I get them. Haven't been to Deadwood lately, I've been getting Obama stimulus money with the Census Bureau, and I've just about had enough. I'm supposed to be retired and I think I will join those ranks again. Have a good day on me.
  25. Hello Boss----How are things in Ohio? Sorry I couldn't make your big mechanics meeting but I was tied up. I intend to get there one day. I guess you heard I will be a mechanic shortly; as soon as my tool comes in. Ordered it all the way from England.
