  1. Completely shocked to read this, condolences to the Warden, family and friends. Will miss his posts on facebook.
  2. Fred's family did not listen to the doctors and would not allow them to "pull the plug" and I just got word that he has been opening his eyes today and seems to be getting a little better. He's still on a respirator and full of pain killers and other meds but it is a good sign.
  3. Last word I got was a text "Fred hanging in there still in coma" that was late last night.
  4. They knew, he was bleeding from the back of his head. The only part of him on the concrete was his head and shoulders the rest was still on the steps. I had to help lift him off the steps and onto the backboard because the female ambulance attendant didn't want to let go of his head and the make attendant couldn't move him by himself and the paramedics had not arrived yet.
  5. In December I posted about my friend in the hospital and they were going to pull the plug and let him die, I visited him the night before and he was 100% aware of what was going to happen. it took him three days to die all the while gasping for air because his lungs was only working at 10%. A few years ago another friend had lung cancer and was told he had no chance so his family pulled the plug and he only lived a couple of hours before he choked to death. Three weeks ago I dropped a friend home after we were out. a friend who I saw every day, while I was getting some groceries out of my van for him he fell backwards off his porch and hit his head. I thought he was dead, sounded like someone dropped a bowling ball on the concrete, his eyelids was open but his eyes was rolled up in the back of his head. The only way I knew he was breathing was because the damn fool was snoring, I called 911 and the ambulance and two sheriff paramedics showed up and took 45 minutes to stabilize him. First time I visited him he didn't know who I was and the next time he knew me but didn't remember what happened, they said he had a broken collar bone, three broken ribs and something wrong with his spine, I asked about his head and they said there was some bleeding on the brain but they were not concerned about it. After a few days they put him in a chemical induced coma to keep him from moving around so his bones could heal. NEVER once did they say anything more about his head trauma, so tonight I get a call and was told that his sister and worthless daughter are meeting with the doctors tomorrow about pulling the plug because of brain damage. NEVER once did they ever say to any of us that they were concerned about his head trauma or fear of being unable to recover. Some of us went to the bar tonight that Fred liked to go to and got drunk as hell in his honer, there is noway that this isn't just a cost saving measure by his insurance company to save money to avoid long term care. How do you go from being placed in a coma to keep from moving around so bones can heal to be being brain dead. Fred lives in Florida in the winter and comes back to Michigan (about 300 feet from my house) in the summer and not one day goes by when I don't hang out with him. So tomorrow I will go see another friend before the insurance company kills him. Hip Hip Hooray for the USA and free enterprise. Very very sad night. Thanks for letting me vent. May God let us all go peaceful in our sleep not only for us but for the ones that love us. The damn thing is that I can't stop crying and I don't know if I'm crying for Fred or if I'm crying because I'm afraid my children will have to decide whether or not to pull the plug on me. guess getting old sucks in more ways then one.

    Holy Crap

I haven't been on much lately because my health has been going down hill for awhile, can't sleep, sugar never under 250, and A1C 10.9. I was carted off to the hospital by ambulance twice in June and doctor put me on a strict testing program for 30 days and was told I'm on the verge of kidney failure and a massive stroke. Today I went back to my doctor and the results were an average sugar of 287 for 30 days and my A1C was 11.2. My doctor couldn't understand how this could be so we talked about what I was eating and my meds. Low and behold we discovered I have been taking the wrong meds since October of 2013. How could this be you ask? Well I'll tell you. I attended a diabetic class October 3 2013 (I remember the date because it was my birthday) and it was sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company who makes humalog diabetic medicine. The instructor of the class (company rep) discovered I was using another companies product and went to have a talk with my doctor, she came back with some free samples of their 75/25 humalog mix and said to use it instead of my Lantus insulin. So for the past nine months I've been taking 22 units at night of 75/25 instead of Lantus. Doctor was pissed and said the 75/25 only works for 45 minutes and should be taken before meals after a sugar test and lantus is the long acting insulin. I have one week of doing the correct things and I get tested again to see if it is possible to save my kidneys. Doctor is calling the company and barring any more of their clinics in his office and believe it or not while I was talking to the doctor the nurse left the room for a few minutes, she came back in and told the doctor she called another person who has been having severe problems with her sugar and got the same story about the clinic I attended and switched to the 75/25 and was told to drop the Lantus after rep said she talked to the doctor. I guess the point of all this is if a pharmaceutical company rep/instructor changes your meds and claims they ok'd it with the doctor follow up with the doctor. Failure to do so could cost you your life. Money is more important to them then your life. Sorry not motorcycle related but I felt that fellow diabetics might want to know.
  7. The Velocity channel started coverage last night on this years Isle of Man TT, these riders have no fear. 220 hp bikes hitting speeds of 193mph on narrow streets, I just love this race. Last night was super bikes with a BMW setting lap and race records. Right now is sidecars. Got to go there and watch it once before I die.
  8. The 2013 Darwin Awards Are Out! Yes, it’s that magical time of year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us. Here Is The Glorious Winner: 1. When his .38 caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach, California would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked. And Now, The Honorable Mentions: 2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat cutting machine and after a little shopping around, submitted a claim to his insurance company. The company expecting negligence sent out one of its men to have a look for himself. He tried the machine and he also lost a finger. The chef’s claim was approved. 3. A man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for his car during a blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woman had taken the space. Understandably, he shot her. 4. After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harare to Bulawayo had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride. He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception wasn’t discovered for 3 days. 5. An American teenager was in the hospital recovering from serious head wounds received from an oncoming train. When asked how he received the injuries, the lad told police that he was simply trying to see how close he could get his head to a moving train before he was hit. 6.. A man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, put a $20 bill on the counter, and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer… $15. [if someone points a gun at you and gives you money, is a crime committed?] 7. Seems an Arkansas guy wanted some beer pretty badly. He decided that he’d just throw a cinder block through a liquor store window, grab some booze, and run. So he lifted the cinder block and heaved it over his head at the window. The cinder block bounced back and hit the would-be thief on the head, knocking him unconscious. The liquor store window was made of Plexiglas. The whole event was caught on videotape. 8. As a female shopper exited a New York convenience store, a man grabbed her purse and ran. The clerk called 911 immediately, and the woman was able to give them a detailed description of the snatcher. Within minutes, the police apprehended the snatcher. They put him in the car and drove back to the store. The thief was then taken out of the car and told to stand there for a positive ID. To which he replied, “Yes, officer, that’s her. That’s the lady I stole the purse from.” 9. The Ann Arbor News crime column reported that a man walked into a Burger King in Ypsilanti, Michigan at 5 A.M., flashed a gun, and demanded cash. The clerk turned him down because he said he couldn’t open the cash register without a food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said they weren’t available for breakfast… The frustrated gunman walked away. [*A 5-STAR STUPIDITY AWARD WINNER] 10. When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a Seattle street by sucking on a hose, he got much more than he bargained for. Police arrived at the scene to find a very sick man curled up next to a motor home near spilled sewage. A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to steal gasoline, but he plugged his siphon hose into the motor home’s sewage tank by mistake. The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges saying that it was the best laugh he’d ever had and the perp had been punished enough! In the interest of bettering mankind, please share these with friends and family…. unless of course one of these individuals by chance is a distant relative or long lost friend. In that case, be glad they are distant and hope they remain lost.
  9. Now what was the name of that town Jonas said to head to?
  10. Most important is that your problem gets resolved, remember that you have many friends here and don't be afraid to call on any of us if you need help. Good Luck and hope all turns out for the best.
  11. Looks likes a lot of fun. Found a review on a 2010, http://www.atv.com/manufacturers/polaris/2010-polaris-ranger-rzr-4-review-1692.html
  12. Total destruction of the number 1 offense in the NFL. LOVED IT.
  13. Could be because the temp was 2 degrees with a wind chill of -20 and the x-ways in this area was glare ice kept us away. Just because we chose to stay home because of common sense doesn't mean we are light weights. Glad you all had a good time.
  14. This weather bites the big one, for the last two days all we have been hearing around here is all the wrecks and closing of sections for the freeways do to ice. The weather forecast doesn't show any improvement so I won't be showing up tomorrow because of the wind, cold and ice. Gary said if it improves tomorrow he might make it but will make his final decision tomorrow. Hope you all have a good time and get there and back safely.....Karl
  15. Happy Birthday Larry.
