My vote is for fugly. And it ain't a V Max engine. Read the description. It's a hybrid with a V twin and an electric motor. Batteries - no, everyone is not doing it. Thanks but no thanks.

Thanks for that. Any pictures or ideas is a huge help. Nope, no HD here. I like to ride a bicycle once in a while, as twisting the wrist doesn't get me much exercise. Sometimes I'll meet someone else and go riding. And it's a lot cheaper if I can haul the bike around with the motorcycle instead of throwing it in the car. I think I'll add the words "golf cart" in this thread, since some of those pictures also showed how to mount a golf cart to a motorcycle. Then if anyone searches for a golf cart rack or something, this will come up.

Well, in a backhanded kind of a way, I hope you stub your toe getting out of bed, or break a leg falling down the stairs, or come down with the flu, or something. Anything to keep you from going into the wrong store. A little patience, my friend.

Anyone? I know someone around here once had some pics of this.

Final Drive Oil Leak on 03
pegscraper replied to Pilot's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It's unusual, but once in a while those seals do fail. On mine, I had to replace the front one in the rear gear housing at the driveshaft. It's not difficult. Just follow the manual. -
Y's website does not show the same part number for the rotors for these models. But it does make one wonder what the difference is.

The '96 and up Royal Stars are 2nd gens. Having the word "accident" in the description as well as "setting for a while" and "does require some TLC" probably answers the price question. But what I find most interesting, very very, is that you were out there looking at 2nd gens. A 1st genner is stumbling and faltering and being tempted. Come into the light, my son. Come into the light.

I saw this on the delphi forum. Is this really finally available, and just in time for winter and the additional heated gear?? Buckeye Performance apparently has these now, but not listed on their website yet. http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/ http://forums.delphiforums.com/vrider/messages/?msg=5874.1

I'll second the question - do they work with Kuryakyn's ISO grips? And another question - won't the top sides of your hands and fingers still be cold as the heat comes up from underneath while cold still blows on the top side? I tried sleeping on top of an electric blanket once, thinking that heat rises and the top covers would keep the heat in. It didn't work. The blanket was warm, but the cold soaked me from the top side and I just froze. It seems to me that heated grips would work just about the same way, no?

I'm a little leary of putting a lot of personal information out there in this information age. How many members do we have here vs. how many we ever hear anything out of? Why are the rest of them here? Did they just join up to get people's phone numbers and addresses? Registration is free here, which is as it should be. What that also means is that whatever information we put out there is free for the taking. I'm just not nuts about putting a lot out there.

It's all in fun. Just jump in with it.

Those bags are really wide with plenty of capacity. With the right factory brackets, those bags would fit on your bike. The thing is that those were designed to fit the four muffer models, like mine. To put them on a two muffler model would leave a huge gap between the bags and your current mufflers where the top mufflers would be.

Air Filter Replacement
pegscraper replied to loehring's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you don't mind modifying your airbox, you can use a Fram CA3717 for a Ford Tempo. Here's an article about it on another board which shall remain nameless. http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/index.php?action=article&cat_id=001010&id=259 -
The '96s like mine are even older than that, and still basically a 2nd gen in design. This oil leak is something I haven't heard of.

Has anyone here turned a first gen Venture into a Royal Star?
pegscraper replied to a topic in General Tech Talk
Some interesting reading there. Thanks for posting that. -
This is exactly what I'm saying way back on page one. Virtually all the responses here are looking at this from the perspective of US, the bikers. Look at this from the perspective of the other guy. The general public does not know what these things are, or what their purpose is. It's more difficult to judge a distance with a flashing light. Obviously these things cause confusion for the general public. By now that should be very clear. WE know what they are. MOST OTHER PEOPLE DON'T. Cagers don't need any more to reason to be confused. I've seen people many times do the slow roll through an intersection and then hit the brakes hard when they see me, and it has nothing to do with having a headlight modulator, because I don't have one. And I will not be installing one. Based on other responses here, they also appear to give a real false sense of security.

Go ahead and try a tire. I'd like to hear whether it disappears or not. I really don't think my local postmaster is BSing me. I know him fairly well. In fact, up to this summer, he owned an '86 Venture, had it for many years. Most any day with good weather it could be seen behind the post office. I say your mail carrier is either ignorant and didn't know he wasn't supposed to accept a package like that or else he didn't pay any attention to what he was picking up. Once the post office has it and they find that they can't deliver it and there's no return address, they'll have to get rid of it at what is basically public expense. A rock they'll just toss out back, but a tire will cost them money.

Boy, you're going to get a lot of opinions on this one. I myself don't like them. I know of their existence and know their purpose, and I will still wonder for a few seconds what's going on when I see one. What must people who don't know of their existence and purpose think about them? This stuff should be taught in driver's ed, I know, but it most likely isn't, and it's us who has to deal with the consequences of it. I prefer bright-as-you-can-get-them lights in a steady state. I say it makes it easier for someone else to judge a distance with a steady state light as opposed to a flashing one. JMHO.

Thursday night we had severe thunderstorms and tornado watches and warnings all over the place here in northern IN. The announcements changed every ten minutes - very unpredictable weather that night. We didn't get much at our house, not even much wind. The worst of it went by just north of us. I haven't heard of any tornado damage though.

Has anyone here turned a first gen Venture into a Royal Star?
pegscraper replied to a topic in General Tech Talk
the problem is that aluminum does not give you any warning before it simply melts away. Exactly what I meant about the whole piece of work becoming the weld puddle. there is an endless supply of aluminum by simply melting down old lawn chairs. That, or pistons from blown up Ford engines. Casting aluminum is a little beyond my capabilities at the moment anyway. -

What I'm told about aluminum is that because it dissipates heat so fast, if you're not careful your whole piece of work becomes the weld puddle. I just haven't had a real need yet to get the correct gas and wire for it. Same with stainless. Besides, stainless is very tough to work. Actually I would like to learn to weld stainless though. Then I could make a custom seat rail that would polish up nice, since no one makes one, as well as other custom trim pieces that aren't commercially available. I think I may have this custom intake thing solved anyway. I found some factory made ones that I believe I can make work. -
I found some. I checked Kuryakyn's website, which makes a run/turn/brake light kit. They have red turn signal lenses available separately.
-
I've thought of that. That would be a second choice. I'd rather have the red lenses. I've seen some that come with the run/turn/brake light kits, but I don't want to buy the kit just for the lenses. I'm thinking they have to be available somewhere separately, even if just for those kits. But I haven't been able to find them.

Now try the narrow front tire. It makes as big of a difference again. I've done both, raise the rear and use the narrower front tire. I recommend doing both. (Raising the rear or lowering the front does the same thing.)

There you go. I knew that ST didn't sound right, but I couldn't come up with what it was. I'm thinking that electric windshield height adjustment would be really nice.
